Nick Johnson is a closeted senior at UNY and the captain of the men's hockey team. Jacob Meyer is in his third year of law school at UNY, and he is out and proud.

They meet on a school sanctioned ski trip. The weather is bad and the bus fishtails, causing Jacob to fall out of his seat. Nick catches him, and when their eyes meet, they feel a connection though neither one acts on it. As far as Jacob

A Joyfully Jay review.

This story reads very like a Young Adult book, for all that it has several graphic sex scenes. The characters are simple with almost no nuance, and the story is stripped down to the most uncomplicated steps. Side characters have the expected reactions to the reveal of Nick’s sexuality. There’s the homophobic team member, the tabloid reporter, the bitter ex … and nothing ever develops past that point. That’s not to say it’s a bad book, but it follows a very expect

This is both a heartbreaking and heartwarming story. Jacob and Nick do not have an easy journey by far. They're faced with the reality of coming out in professional sports, and dealing with the fallout that shouldn't - but sadly does - exist. There are a couple of people in their lives who I absolutely loathed and although they made me beyond furious and hurt, the hardship they bring just makes Nick and Jacob's hard-fought HEA all the more beautiful and so very deserving. But it's not all pain f ...more

Josh and Ryan really know how to write a beautiful book!! They just have a way with words that makes you want to keep reading and not put the book down, which is exactly what I did until I finished this one; no food, not drink just read it to the end. I loved it!

From start to finish this is an emotional journey of growth for not only the main characters but also the huge secondary cast, which is lovely to see. The two main characters are adorable from the beginnings of their tentative liaisons i

An enjoyable read and an original story. Drama without too much angst. It's nice to read a story about gay men written by gay men for a change.

This book is loosely connected to previous books by these authors, but fully enjoyable as a standalone.

Nick Johnson is a college senior and captain of the men's hockey team and Univ of New York in Syracuse. He's a closeted player, unwilling to risk his scholarship and the potential homophobia of his teammates, but he's in a rather grim place right now. He spent Thanksgiving alone, pondering if remaining closeted was worth the deep isolation and guilt he felt over lying about his sexuality and ne

I'm a sucker for sports stories, hockey especially. I love slightly nerdy but quietly confident characters. I love confident and popular characters who are privately a little unsure of themselves. This book checks all three of those boxes.

Jacob is a third-year law student, out and proud. Nick is captain of the university men's hockey team, gay, but until now, closeted. He and Jacob meet on a bus on a school trip, and are quite literally thrown together. The attraction is instant on both sides. A

I was really excited when I heard this book was coming out. I had discovered the authors when their previous release, Too Close to the Flame came out. I absolutely loved that book, so I was anxious to see what they had in store for us next. I was in luck because I wasn’t disappointed.

I love how the book jumped right into the story. I appreciate many writing styles, but that is one of my favorite practices. Their meet-cute was more of a meet catch, and it was that event that brought the title int

Nice Catching You is a beautifully written, sweet, inspirational story with all the feels about Nick, a college hockey player, and Jacob, a law student. On a school trip the bus the students are in has a bit of trouble and knocks Jacob out of his seat. Nick makes no hesitation and catches Jacob before he can hurt himself. On the way back to campus they all have to stay the night in a small motel and share. Since Nick doesn't want to share with his two buddies and possibly sleep on the floor he o ...more

Nick Johnson is captain of the men’s hockey team and a top prospect to go pro. Although gay, he is still keeping that fact hidden to avoid potential repercussions that could destroy any potential career for him. He didn’t know how his teammates would react, but the press would eat him alive. Jacob Meyer is a third-year law student, having already secured a new job waiting for him when he graduates. Returning on the bus from a ski weekend sponsored by the school, the two of them meet when the bus ...more

Where do I start ! This book ticked all my boxes , well written , a great solid piece of work.
On the way back from a ski weekend Jacob Meyer met Nick Johnson .
This was not the way to meet anyone on the floor!, while the bus was in trouble...
Nick,  a strong Captain of his hockey team  a mean player with a great passion for his sport.
Kind and thoughtful his team mates applaud him .
But, and a big but for Nick , he knows he is gay has always hidden it away knowing that his team mates,( but probab

Good coming out story.

This is the first book I've read by Ryan Taylor and Joshua Harwood and I really enjoyed it. It's being marketed as "a holiday love story" but I think it's a great story for any time of year.

Nick and Jacob meet under somewhat unusual circumstances when Nick literally catches Jacob when he's tossed out of his seat on a bus. Bad weather caused the bus to fishtail and the college kids on a trip are forced to spend the night on the road instead of going home.

This is a sweet love story about the risks and joys of gay college men finding love against a background of prejudice homophobia, and small-mindedness. This was my first read by these two authors and I really enjoyed it. Nick is a star hockey player on a scholarship, though he has plans to be a lawyer on graduation. He has stayed in the closet to protect his scholarship and future, but he feels lonely and isolated. Jacob has a bad record with boyfriends, and is solo on a ski trip recovering from ...more

Scenes play out and Nick doesnt want to hide especially with Jacob. Lessons about thr hockey Jacob has no knowledge about. Trouble on the team and Nick was the focus of it all.

Ryan Taylor and Joshua Harwood's Nice Catching You is a sweet, fluffy holiday romance. Nick and Jacob's tale is one of two college men, forced proximity, and coming out.

They meet on a bus trip, and get stranded together during a storm. The attraction is instant and they can't fight their chemistry for long.

The meat of the story is Nick's closeted status as an athlete. Their relationship takes heat and is an obstacle for many. But it's sweet and heart-warming and will give you all the holiday f

I could not put this book down; it had me hooked from the very first page! Jacob and Nick's story was fantastic! This book was heartwarming yet hurt at the same time. These two went through so much since they started dating and to me, it made them that much stronger. Jacob and Nick were perfect for each other and support each. I loved their connection, chemistry, and their humor together. loved the support that they received from people. This book also showed how awful people can be but also how ...more

I really appreciate how well the characters in this book had such great depth. They became real and their story is quite unique, even though there are many books of this type, this one is exceptionally well dealt with. At times it had me laughing out loud, I just love the Nick names Nick and Jacob came up with, every time they mentioned those names made me grin. Their story moved fast as did their love. The sex, once it got that far was super hot. The best thing about this story is the love that ...more

Nice Catching You by Ryan Taylor and Joshua Harwood. This is Nick Johnson and Jacob Meyer’s story.

This was such a fun book to read and loved Nick and Jacob’s connection. I could feel their chemistry and love for each. Plus their interactions between each other was so sweet, sexy and funny at times. Their story also has a little suspense and cover some difficult issues.

Nice catching you is about other's responses to a factor that should not even factor in. Nick is a hockey player and who he loves should not have an impact on that but he knows it does so he keeps it to himself. Until he has a reason not to necessarily step out but when he meets Jacob and they click he wants what anyone would. A chance to be with someone they enjoy. Nick and Jacob's story is at once neat as they found love and a reminder that we are not there yet.

Love will always win

Love at first sight (or catch)can be real and beautiful! Those men fought for each other and listened to one another. This was so beautiful. I think the greatest part of this book without giving too much away though was the breaking of social norms. Just because someone is a jock doesn’t mean they are automatically intolerant of others. Just because someone is a homosexual does not mean that they are a pansy and limp wristed. But being a good person is the most important thin

College hockey captain Nick is closeted when he meets law student Jacob on a winter trip. They end up sharing a hotel room, then building a relationship that eventually outs Nick. Most of the book is them dealing with the drama that results. That drama takes the form of bigoted teammates, biased reporters, corrupt college administrators, and more. To be fair, Nick and Jacob have a sweet chemistry. Their relationship does get super serious, super fast, and though they do have some lovely

A score

What an amazing love story! The top UNY hockey star is gay and in the closet. What happens when he meets his soulmate on a school trip? Oh the most amazing story unfolds. The love these two have for each other comes off the pages! You will be cheering them on from the get go. Beautiful, amazing, loving, and you will in love with Jacob and Nick as much as they love each other.

This was a sweet, heartwarming, hurt/comfort romance.
Jacob and Nick are faced with the challenges of coming out as professional sportsmen. They do not have an easy journey and struggle with keeping up their public image and their relationship.
This book was so realistically written and I loved how the author portrayed the characters.
This book was engaging and compelling and had all the feels.
A definite recommend if you like a good sports romance with medium angst and hurt/comfort.

Man oh man, this story is incredible. My stomach was in knots. The romance was good, indeed, but it seemed the real story lay in the homophobic prejudice against the heroes, Nick and Jacob. This book kept you on pins and needles. A great reading with a terrific story to tell. Definitely a five star book.

This is a great story. Nick is a hockey star and he’s gay but he’s not out. When he meets Jacob there is a huge spark that they can’t ignore. Can they make it work, especially when it seems like everything is against them. I voluntarily reviewed an advance copy of this book.

Nick and Jacob went through a lot of changes trying to be together. Coming out is hard enough without the ones you trust working against you! This book has drama, action. angst and true love. I love going on this journey with the two young men as they find love with each other and bond with true friends. Pick up a copy because I know you will enjoy them too!

I really enjoyed reading this story. It was a powerful read. It broke my heart to read about how Nick has had to hide who he was in order to play a sport he loves but he gets the strength and courage to come out after falling in love with Jacob. It was really heartwarming to read how all their friends and family step up them and their love for each other is so special.

This novel had it's cute moments but the intimate scenes were really awkward; I skipped every single one of them. It doesnt help that one of the mcs, Jacob, is a total asshole to his best friend (who's the predictable sidekick whom we know literally nothing about).
