Mobsters' Gay Sons #2

Loyalty Required

Rate this book
The Chernovs and the Banetti family have been at odds for years. Ben Banetti fights to be with Mishka Chernov, but his Italian mafia family continues to interfere with their relationship. When Ben’s father disowns him, he finds a new one in Shurik, Mishka’s father, who welcomes him as his son. Living with Mishka causes unforeseen consequences for the couple and those around them.

Mishka desires the same freedom and separation from the family business that Ben has and his father agrees to help him go legitimate. At the same time, he continues to work at strengthening his relationship with Ben as the couple decides to explore a BDSM relationship. There are plenty of thrilling, dangerous moments, as well as emotional and tender moments as they dodge danger from coast to coast.

Loyalty Required is about two gay men raised by mob bosses, realizing their families are enemies, regardless, both want their happy ever after. This story is book two of a MM romance that follows their relationship. It has some D/s and light BDSM elements.

I Was so happy when I opened this book to find it continues Ben and Mishka’s story. We continue pretty much from where book one ended. I highly recommend that you read book one first, to get the full back story.

Ben is frustrated and scared, that his life is threatened and therefore he is pretty much under house arrest for his safety. He still hopes that his father will change his mind and invite him back into the family and accept his sexuality and Mishka as his lover. So, when his father demands his presence, he sneaks out with Kylan (his bodyguard) much against Kylans judgement. Of course, Bens hopes are dashed, and to rub salt into the wound that is Ben’s broken heart. His father has allowed Ben’s abusive brother Freddie and Cousin Dante back into New York.

Mishka is still a little unsure that Ben’s loyalty and love belongs to him. So when he finds out that Ben has met with his father, he is hurt and furious that Ben did not talk about it first.

Their story of two unique men who want the same things in life, such as escaping the Mobster’s lifestyle and wanting to continue their educations.

There are so many variables in their journey and danger lurks at every page turn. I honestly felt my heart stop at several turns of the pages. You just do not know when the author is going to throw a curveball into the story to mix things up.

Their relationship has a few rocky moments, mostly down to communication of their worries and fears. Which in the end may be their biggest threat, more so than family members wanting Ben dead.

I really like the characters in this series especially Kylan, who is Bens rock and Mishka’s father who guides the two of them together and helps them reach their goals.

I was almost heart broken when Mishka took back his collar from Ben in a moment of anger. But I was so happy to see Ben stand his ground and told Mishka a few home truths, that in the end helped them resolve some of their issues.

The story is of how Ben navigate the threats from Bens family and build their budding bdsm relationship. We are taken on a nail-biting journey, full of danger, and a emotional rollercoaster right till the very end.

Ben Banetti and Mishka Chernov come from rival mafia families, but their relationship has only grown stronger despite years of interference and hostility. When Ben’s father finally disowns him for choosing Mishka, he unexpectedly finds acceptance with Shurik — Mishka’s father — who embraces him as family. Living together brings Ben and Mishka closer, but it also creates new complications neither of them saw coming. Mishka longs for the same freedom Ben has found outside the criminal world, and with Shurik’s support, he begins the difficult process of going legitimate. As the two men deepen their bond — including exploring a BDSM dynamic — they face danger, loyalty tests, and emotional upheaval while dodging threats from coast to coast. Loyalty Required continues Ben and Mishka’s journey as two men raised by mob bosses who must confront the reality that their families are enemies… even as they fight for a future together.

I loved this story which was a gripping continuation of Ben and Mishka’s turbulent, high‑stakes romance. The tension of two men raised in rival mafia families trying to build a life together gives the story a constant undercurrent of danger, but it’s the emotional depth that really shines. Ben’s heartbreaking break from his own family and the unexpected acceptance he finds with Shurik adds a beautiful layer of found‑family warmth amid the chaos. Mishka’s struggle to step away from the criminal world and carve out a legitimate future is compelling, especially as he and Ben strengthen their bond and explore a deeper, more intimate dynamic. Their relationship feels both tender and volatile, shaped by loyalty, desire, and the constant threat of violence. With action, emotional vulnerability, and a romance that refuses to break under pressure, this instalment delivers a powerful blend of danger and devotion. This was an MM story with mature content and a BDSM-like D/s dynamic.

Choices to be Made

Ben has had no contact with anybody in the Banetti family since his father disowned him for being in a relationship with Mishka, so he's shocked and worried to receive a text from his father demanding he goes to his fathers office in New York City for three pm that day, it can't be for anything good...nothing good for him anyway!
Mishka meets him at the café immediately after he received the text and when only moments after arriving, he receives a text himself and leaves in a hurry looking worried, Ben is concerned, are the two texts connected?
There has been a death and Ben's father is blaming Mishka, Ben's life is at risk and it's important that he stays out of the City, while Ben is staying with Mishka he finds out that both his condo's have been targeted, and more violent deaths have occured. Ben panics and goes away with Kylan to California, but trouble follows them there.
Ben phones Mishka upset about what has happened and Mishka tells him he's on his way. The rest of Mishka's family join them in California, and Mishka's father continues to look into things and try to broker a deal with Ben's father.
The trouble continues with Ben's family and the danger to Ben remains, who is behind all the trouble, the attacks, killings...all of it?
They will never be able to relax and enjoy a future together unless they can find out what is going on and stop who is behind it all.
This story is action packed and full of drama and I can't wait to find out the truth behind it all. Not a book you can put down once you start reading!.

A great start to the book and probably needs to be read in order with book one "Without Respect" to understand the characters in this before hand.
Hearing the death of his Uncle Tony, Ben is torn between his Aunty and being there for her and his Sir. Ben gets and unexpected text from Sal, his father about a meeting he didn't want to attend. Being the son of a mobster boss wasn't easy since he'd been disowned. Trouble brews and Ben's life is in danger because of who he lives with and loves. Mistakes are made and consequences seen through. I felt for Ben as his world is upside down to what is happening. A lot of story happens which keeps it intriguing to see what's next. A fantastic ending for these guys.

Hell yes, what an excellent audio/book.

Brina does it again. The Chernov's and Benetti family will never be the kissing cousins, and they can't even be civil for their sons. This second book in the series gets better and better. Miska and Ben have a few ups and downs within this book, and there are many twists, but it's worth the heartache.

The characters are well developed, and you get genuinely invested in their lives. We get a very HEA in this book.

Raymond Zaver does a great job with the narration. It is excellent and clean, although I did speed it up but only to 1.30 on audible.

I loved this story. The Chernovs and the Banetti family have been back and forth for years. After Ben's father disowns him because of his relationship with Mishka. He finds it strange he father wants to see him. Sal tells Ben he Mishka had his Uncle murdered and wants Ben to leave Mishka. Ben's life is being threatened and he flees to California despite Kylan telling him to talk to Mishka. Events both good and bad happen. But will Mishka and Ben survive and hold their family together despite the odds?

This was one hell of a fantastic, poignant, powerful, dangerous, intense, raw, gritty, action packed, kinky, smoldering, grab-you-by-the-feels, nail biting, keep-you-on-the-edge-of-your-seat, thrilling, and totally awesome story. Miska and Ben's journey to their HEA ending was anything but smooth, and it has me hooked from beginning to end. I would recommend getting this marvelous gem immediately.

I tried, I really tried. I usually love the mob trope but I had to DNF. The characters are so all over the place, the BDSM element is poorly done, the writing lacks any kind of emotion. I rarely give low ratings but I felt this needed to be said. Don’t waste your time.
