Amidst the controversy of the war in Vietnam, anti-war demonstrations, the growing fight for women’s rights, and a generational divide, a woman is murdered in her bed. Her death is believed to have happened in a burglary gone wrong and is on its way to becoming a closed case.

I enjoyed the main plot in this book, but could have done without the subplot of Ben and Emily. I know Emily needed to be part of the story line since it was her mother who was murdered.

Did Dr. Brayard really murder his wife? Maybe instead he hired a hit man who has now disappeared from the city. He certainly appears guilty.

Enter Artie Mehlman who is trying to keep a low profile in Maine. He ends up becoming a lobsterman, and surprising himself, he enjoys it.

Great Read

I loved this book immediately and had a hard time putting it down. You have a feeling who the murderer might be, but the author throws you for a loop. A great read.
