Steamy and fun; Held in Contempt is a promising first release from Kat Vaughn. Can't wait for this one to officially release and for the rest of the series.

Loved that the Hero was a judge! I've never read a romance where the main male character was actually the judge, so it was pretty cool. And the cover picture was definitely drool worthy! 😋 However, Remi's character did irritate me at times. She went from snarky in the first part of the book to having such low self esteem for most of the rest of it. And she kept questioning that Xavier cared about her, even though he repeatedly said and showed her how much he truly adored her. Xavier was amazing! Loved, loved, loved him! Remi was okay for the most part, but I wanted to give her several eye rolls. Plus, I couldn't understand how she couldn't press charges against her stalker. Even if his brother was the mayor, she wouldn't have had to put up with his actions, particularly with her friends being attorneys, officers, and a judge as her boyfriend. Still, it was a good read and I recommend it.

Held In Contempt by Kat Vaughn
If I could give this book more than 5 stars I truly would, it takes a special kind of author to make you feel like you’re within the story right alongside the characters and that’s exactly how I felt whilst I was reading “Held In Contempt”.
Remi is an administrative assistant working in the District Attorney’s office.
Unfortunately a pipe bursts making her work environment unusable for the foreseeable future, she manages to to find a suitable working space which belongs to none other than Judge Xavier Bishop working in his antechamber.
Remi is smart, stunning, extremely sassy and has quick wit - Remi also struggles with a lot of self esteem. She is always comparing herself to Rory her fraternal twin!
Judge Xavier Bishop is extremely intrigued with Remi and finds her beyond beautiful, he absolutely hates being called “Judge” or “Sir” when his not in the courtroom, he just wants to be seen as Xavier the man.
So he sets himself a “mission” - get Remi to lose the professionalism whilst it’s just the two of them.
The chemistry between Xavier and Remi is kindle exploding, you can feel the attraction whilst reading and as I stated above it takes a special kind of author to make you FEEL everything that’s being said.
I definitely swooned a lot - Judge Xavier is definitely my kind of man, extremely protective and a little bit possessive.
Xavier and Remi’s attraction is undeniable but unfortunately with this new found relationship it earns the attention of a monster with an obsession for Remi.
Held In Contempt is a suspenseful contemporary romance based in a world of Law.
This is book one of the new Ridgewood County Series, there will be a total of six.
