I fell in love with the main character, Jasmine, while I read the first book of Iris Yang's amazing trilogy. The author uses gorgeous language. As an author, I find myself making a lot of notes with my ebook reader. Such is the power of this writer that I want to learn.
The emotional, shocking events of Legacy of the Tigers suck the reader in. And because the MC is easy to relate to, I felt tears in my eyes several times. The setting is dramatic and the horrors of war and revolution are vivid.
A beautiful historical novel based on the tumultuous chapters in the history of China. I love to read about history, but there are suspense, romance, and a lot of great plot twists. I highly recommend Legacy of the Tigers.

Legacy of the Tigers chronicles the story of Jasmine on her trek to find her loved one Danny Hardy, an American pilot. The story starts in the winter of 1942 and takes us through to 1947, significant not for the end of WWII, but for the rise of Communism in China. Chiang Kai-Shek and Mao Zedong figure prominently in the latter parts of this story.
Jasmine sought to find Danny against great odds: First we learn she was gang-raped and gave birth to - and cares for - the child that was the result of this gang rape. Jasmine was robbed by thugs later on and thrown in jail, accused by communists as being subversive. You would think that being and the horrible conditions of her confinement would keep her down, but it does not deter Jasmine from her quest, which carries her thousands of miles, to find Danny. You can't help but be drawn into the book right from the beginning
This was a wonderful book in two aspects. First, it is the engaging and emotional story of Jasmine searching for Danny against all odds but never losing her sense of decency or her goals. Secondly, this was a wonderful book to learn the history of the rise of Communism in China during this period and the flight of Chiang Kai-Shek to Taiwan. The most history that we learn in the West tells us what happens after a movement, and so I found this book particularly interesting, reading about the rise of Communism and the flight of Chaing Kai-Shek. All the while, these events affect Jasmine and her quest, but she never loses sight of her love.
Only after finishing the book did I that this was the third of three and I am now going to have to get the first two. I can highly recommend Legacy of the Tigers and go out on a limb and recommend the entire series. Iris Yang is a gifted writer; whether you read Legacy of the Tiger for the story of Jasmine, or the historical aspects, or for both, you will not be disappointed.

China is in political chaos and jasmine is living through it. Will she manage to find Danny and her family or will she just give up in hopes of living a half decent life with the baby she never asked for? Either way it won't be easy and will be something she won't soon forget.
I love how this book focused on Jasmine. I was so interested in knowing how her life was gonna play out. I also love how it goes throughout almost her entire life. It made it so that you could get the answers to the questions that you were asking yourself throughout the other books. The new characters introduced are also very sweet wonderful people that I got attached too. I think that this was definitely the best book out of the three and I loved every minute of it.
Overall, I think that if you like historical fiction then you'll love these books. They are engaging mentally and emotionally and are set at just the right pace, especially this book.

For anyone who has read Iris Yang’s first two books of the Flying Tiger’s saga, Legacy of the Tigers is the third book of a trilogy about the incredible story of bravery and love between the Chinese civilians and American Flying Tigers. Like the two previous books, Legacy of the Tigers again gripped me with deep emotions as I read the book about the amazing journey of Jasmine Bai in the turbulent historic period after WWII. Iris Yang skillfully presents the story in such picturesque scenes with cinematic experience that I feel as if I was watching the events unveiled in front of me in a movie theater. This is a must-read book in my opinion—although it can be read as a stand-alone book, I highly recommend reading all three Tiger Saga books sequentially in order to fully appreciate the powerful story of Jasmine Bai and what people in her country had gone through in those days.

Iris Yang's "Legacy of the Tigers" is a captivating historical fiction that follows Jasmine Bai's journey through the tumultuous events of post-war China, including the Japanese occupation, the rise of Communism, and the Cultural Revolution. Yang's beautiful storytelling and attention to detail weave Jasmine's struggles with the historical events of China, presenting a passionate history of resilience. This compelling and informative read offers a clear view of this clouded chapter of human history and China's past.
