But as she meets him again at her champagne store she’s inherited from her family, she realizes he was the man who wants to buy her business! Gracie realizes there’s a sweet, sensitive part of Sebastian hid behind his robotic, business oriented, cool manners. As she spends more time with him, she feels like her heart will be torn in two pieces: one of them belongs to his secret sir and the other belongs to Sebastian!

Could she like both men at the same time? What if her feelings are unrequited! Because one of them is adamant to steal her business as the other one is determined to steal her heart!
It’s predictable, easy to read and enjoy with a huge pop corn bucket and nice bottle of Champagne! ( I know I’m not good enough pairing snacks with drinks! But I’m dedicated pop corn lover when I read good romcoms)

I adore Ms. Layne’s sweet Manhattan love stories which reminds me of how I missed NY and taking a long walk at Central Park, enjoying great food truck eats.

Overall: it’s another one seat, sweet, swoon, heartwarming romcom with lovely MCs deserved my four bubbling, artsy, dreamy, fairytale style !

I’m singing “If you wanted the sky I'd write across the sky in letters that would soar a thousand feet high, To Sir, With Love.” ( listening Lulu’s memorable song for the incredible movie with the same name of the book)

any book, just a book— specifically a romantic comedy written by Lauren Layne will rarely ever disappoint me.

one of my favorite things about Lauren Layne’s books besides the obvious is the fact how she manages to write the simplest plots and yet, make them so full of emotions that one would feel while watching a disney movie.
i absolutely love the way she uses New York city as her setting in most of her books and how she also incorporates girls + guy 3.75/5

i absolutely love the way she uses New York city as her setting in most of her books and how she also incorporates girls + guys friendships. that— just gives me pure and utter joy.

the essence of To Sir, with Love was no different from the essence present in most of her works, this book gave me the same soft and happy vibes i always get whenever i read a book by Lauren Layne. even though most of the time, her books always revolve around the cliché, and sometimes her stories are cheesy, but that’s what i really like and enjoy about this side of romance that she shows, something that’s not so subtle, but at the same it kind of is.

i loved almost everything about this book, from the main characters, Gracie Cooper and Sebastian Andrews to the side characters and the entire little universe that this book and story contained. it had the perfect elements of a romantic comedy and there was never really a time where the story fell through or when the plot weakened. Gracie and Sebastian had a lot of swooning moments along with great and active banter. another thing i really liked about this book was how it was not (as much i wanted it to be) completely dedicated to romance—actually that is one thing i liked but also disliked at the same time because as much i loved how the story focused on Gracie’s platonic relationships because the side characters were all written great, however, this is a romantic comedy so i wanted for it to be at least 90% of just soft, soft, beautiful romance and development between Gracie and Sebastian's relationship.
the only reason why i didn’t rate it as high as i could have is because the genre of this book is new adult romance, though the romance was more like pg and i didn’t mind that, but all i wanted was more moments between Gracie and Sebastian as a couple. for me, the book ended way too quickly when there could have been further development shown between Gracie and Sebastian as a couple and more.

but all in all, Lauren Layne’s stories are always a treat to read, and her characters always manage to win my heart and make me think about finally getting into a relationship.. kinda and living in New York city.

Everything I’ve come to expect from a Lauren Layne book and more.
Gracie, our heroine, is incredibly likable. She's smart, strong and sweet.
Sebastian was oh so swoon worthy! Definitely one of my favorite Layne book boyfriends. The writing here was tight, sharp and fun.
They were awesome together. I loved their verbal sparring and chemistry, seriously, so entertaining!
The supporting characters in this book were great, I would love Keva and Grady book.

Anyone that knows me, knows I'm a huge Lauren Layne fan. So it's no surprise the fact that I've been excited for this book ever since it was announced. But, even though I knew I would like it, I was surprised by how much I loved it.
This story follows the sweet and romantic Gracie Cooper who left aside her dream of being an artist to take care of the family business. However, she's starting to realize the store isn't doing as well as it should.

Lauren Layne is back with another rom com and i must say To Sir, with Love is probably on my top 3 of this author's books. I didn't want this book to end, i got hooked from the first few pages and this story really felt like a was watching a coming of age movie unfold in front of my eyes.

If you guys are looking for your next female character to get obsessed over then i present you miss Gracie Cooper. She is hilarious, cute, a daydreamer, an artist, a boss, done with life sometimes, a cat lover and most important the friend/sister we all deserve to have. This story is not all about romance is about a woman figuring her life out after her parent's death, she is now the owner of the champagne shop her dad left her and her siblings, and she has to find a balance between her personal life and what her parents would have wanted from her. In my opinion Lauren Layne writes the best characters - when your side characters deserve a book of their own then you know that you have done something right - her world building is incredible i just want to live inside this book i'm so invested.

And now let's talk about Sebastian...yeah if you read this book, and you don't have a crush on him then you're doing something wrong. Sir aka Sebastian was exactly how i had imagined him, he was clever, hot, funny and flirty at times and he and Gracie might have started as rivals, but their chemistry was electrifying i couldn't get enough of them and their banter. Every single moment they had was so swoon worthy and the tension kept growing and growing at times i would forget that Sebastian and Sir was the same person and kept rooting for Gracie to pick Sebastian.

There's a line in this story that Gracie says, and it hits close to home because i know most of us struggle with what we really want from our life and seeing Gracie being over 25+ and still not knowing what to do gives me hope and as a 22 years old girl it motivates me !!!! Hope this book touches your heart and make you all soft inside, one more great book from Lauren that you don't want to miss.

But Layne takes a deeper dive with themes of family expectations and self-discovery, of taking chances and believing in our dreams. There is nothing like a Lauren Layne book to break you out of a book rut and uplift your mood. Her books are often among my most anticipated of the year and To Sir, with Love did not disappoint. I really loved it!

The premise of the story is a familiar one. Two people who meet and start off on the wrong foot with each other don’t realize that they’ve just met the person they’ve been anonymously corresponding with. In t I received a copy of this title from the publisher via NetGalley and Edelweiss.

There is nothing like a Lauren Layne book to break you out of a book rut and uplift your mood. Her books are often among my most anticipated of the year and To Sir, with Love did not disappoint. I really loved it!

The premise of the story is a familiar one. Two people who meet and start off on the wrong foot with each other don’t realize that they’ve just met the person they’ve been anonymously corresponding with. In this case, they’ve been messaging as “Sir” and “Lady” on a photo free dating app when Sebastian comes into Gracie’s fledgling champagne shop offering to buy out the remainder of the lease. An offer she resents, letting that resentment transfer over to Sebastian.

Sebastian begins to win her over, though, and I loved watching it unfold. Their animosity towards each other pops up occasionally, but didn’t overshadow all the cute moments going on. I was definitely shipping Sebastian and Gracie and was anxiously waiting for them to figure things out. Speaking of which, I really enjoyed the chat excerpts between them that were interspersed throughout the story. There was some good banter that I always enjoy. I do have to say, though, that since it’s obvious to the reader that Sebastian and Sir are the same person, I got a little annoyed at Gracie for taking so long to figure it out. All of the times she’s debating about her feelings between Sir and Sebastian seemed a little fruitless to me. However, it eventually all comes to light in a very sweet scene, so it still worked for me.

Another thing I really liked about this story is that the romance falls more on the sweet side. Those that are familiar with Layne’s other books know that she often includes a couple of explicit love scenes, but there aren’t any here and it made me like the book even more.

In addition to to the romance, I loved the friendships and family dynamics. Gracie’s friend and neighbor, Keva, was funny and I wouldn’t mind seeing a book about her in the future. I also enjoyed Gracie’s siblings, Caleb and Lily, and I loved Lily’s husband, Alec. They were so supportive of Gracie and I liked seeing them grow closer.

If there is one thing that I didn’t really care for, though, it’s the title of the book. It’s also the title of a movie. At first I thought this was supposed to be based on the movie, but it isn’t at all. I understand how the title works for the book, but I maybe would have changed a word so there would be no confusion in trying to compare it to the movie.

Overall, I really loved To Sir, with Love. It was such a sweet story and I enjoyed every minute I was reading it. The characters were likable and the romance was shippable. I was feeling like I was in a book slump when I started this book and it pulled me out of it. Rom-Com fans will definitely want to add this to their TBR list for this summer!

This story is classic, and wittingly beautiful! The characters, main and secondary have you rolling with laughter and full of emotion. You had me at You’ve Got Mail. As a proud elder millennial, I believe I have seen the Meg Ryan/Tom Hanks romantic comedy approximately 50 times. It’s safe to say that any variation on this tale merited a reading, but I was not prepared to fall so hard for this story.

You had me at You’ve Got Mail. As a proud elder millennial, I believe I have seen the Meg Ryan/Tom Hanks romantic comedy approximately 50 times. It’s safe to say that any variation on this tale merited a reading, but I was not prepared to fall so hard for this story.

Full disclosure, any time a book is set in New York City, I cringe with anticipation that the author will likely be exposed as someone who clearly has never actually been there. I swear, I once read an NYC-set book where the protagonist was given the keys to her new boyfriend’s car to go to the grocery store. In Midtown. You know, as one does. Thankfully, Lauren Layne appears to be a true New Yorker, and I didn’t see any glaring continuity errors.

I fell into this story right away, immediately liking Gracie Cooper. I found her to be the best kind of woman-- someone who champions other women and makes friends with just about everyone she meets. Perhaps there was a bit of Ryan’s Kathleen Kelly in that, but the character was definitely her own. There’s something so heartfelt about the people in this story, and you find yourself cheering for all of them.

As with the source material, you, as an audience member, know that the two main characters are actually writing to each other, even when they do not. Watching the story unfold left a delightful squirminess in my stomach that was resolved at the perfect time in the plot. I can’t tell you how much I smiled in the last five chapters of this story.

There was an information dump on chapter two that I felt was a bit lazy and juvenile. The rest of the book does such a great job of showing and not telling that it felt incongruous with the writing quality. As this is my only criticism of the whole book, I’d say we’re safe to go ahead and slap a five-star rating on this bad boy.

'To Sir, with Love' is a nostalgic dose of an all-time favourite rom-com of mine - Nora Ephron's You've Got Mail - done with the storytelling bones of the movie, set in a somewhat similar context and written with the same light-hearted sprinkling of fairy dust and wistful cuteness as you'd come to expect of Lauren Layne.
