I don't think there's one story in here that I thought was excellent. Some were fair. Most were mediocre and forgettable.

The low point was the story "Venus Bluegenes," who is a female version of Rogue Trooper - because rebooting franchises with women replacing men has worked so well for the movie industry, eh? This character comes out with the classic line: "The only thing dumber than a human is a male human." Now, imagine old Rogue Trooper saying: "The only thing dumber than a human is a female human." Unthinkable, isn't it? See the problem with Venus Bluegenes? And of course, she's a total Mary Sue who's automatically brilliant at everything and no adversity ever fazes her.

Go ahead, "2000 AD," continue on your path of wokeness; continue putting down men (your primary audience), you absolute plonkers.

This is a great smattering of 2000 AD stories, with a slant to a more teenage readership. I enjoyed revisiting these worlds of far flung dystopian science and often wry (and sometimes outright) over the top silliness - basically the very thing 2000 AD has always brought to the table since the very beginning. Nothing earth shattering or jaw droppingly good, but nevertheless a thoroughly enjoyable mix of characters and settings presented in easy to digest 10 pages stories that work even for a older fan like myself.

Recent Reads: 2000AD Regened 2. Another anthology from 2000AD specials; new exploits for Cadet Dredd, more young Johnny Alpha, and a smattering of future shocks. Atempted new characters fall a little flat, though, missing the edge of the parent title. Still, it passed the time.
