even though this technically isnt a fake dating story, it has a very similar feel. it was really rewarding seeing two characters genuinely try to discover if they have a connection. scientific data may have pointed them in a certain direction, but it was the characters choices that made them a couple worth rooting for.

The more I think about The Soulmate Equation the more I struggle with what to rate it and how to review it. The problem is there were so many things I loved about this book. I loved a lot of the characters, the familial aspects, the premise of the story was compelling and I wanted to love this one. I honestly thought it could be a five star favorite at the start, but there were a few things that just didn't work for me personally.

This was just okay. The beginning was very slow and I had a really hard time finding the motivation to keep on reading; it takes a long time to care bout this romance. Jess is a single mom who sends her saliva in to be tested for a DNA dating site. The DNA is compared to other DNA sent in to the app and tested for compatibility. Jess and River ended up having a Diamond Match, which is the highest match ever recorded on the app. I liked Jess and River enough, but nothing was drawing me ...more

River Pena Owens an innovative dating company. Compatibility is determined by DNA pairings. Jess has no interest in dating until her daughter is much older but a bad day has her impulsively submitting a sample for a potential match. Surprise! A match is made.

When an up and coming matchmaking company promises compatibility via participants' DNA, data analyst Jess Davis is skeptical. Getting back into the dating scene has been a bit of a challenge recently – what with raising her seven year old daughter practically on her own and keeping her career afloat. The idea that finding a soulmate could boil down to DNA seems impossible, yet the numbers are begging to be analyzed. Submitting a sample to the company seems simple enough, but Jess doesn' ...more
This book was addictive, adorable, funny, and swoon-worthy. I loved every single page.
I'm currently trying to figure out where this stands in my "Christina Lauren Books Ranking" (it's a very official list), and this one is definitely top 3 (along with Josh and Hazel's Guide to Not Dating and The Unhoneymooners, of course). Now to figure out where exactly in the top 3 it belongs.

This book was super cute, and the dialogue was funny and real. It was predictable in many ways, but it was funky and cool. The Soulmate Equation also had imperfect characters (which I am always a sucker for). However, the first 75% of the book was really strong, and the last 25% was just eh. Some o ...more
It had a refreshing plot of finding your soulmate through genetics’ compatibility but it fell flat, the MCs were plain and couldn’t feel any chemistry.
It’s time for me to not read more books about these authors, since The Unhoneymooners it went downhill for me.

This book WAS EVERYTHING. As a single mom you can only hope to find someone who loves your kids as much as you do. This book gave me every single feel. If I could write my favorite book it would be this book. I love the science/math aspect of this book. And the e-dating app portion. It really brings the online dating to another level that I wish was kind of true! Scientists need to get on this!
