Have yourself a very Merry Witchmas in Holiday Haven, where the magic and mystery of Christmas is snow joke!Lumi Northrop is a powerful guardian of the north--the North Star Reindeer Sanctuary, that is. When Rudolph vanishes the week before Christmas, Lumi is thrust from the peace and quiet of her family's farm, into the magical town of Holiday Haven to help find him. Lumi quickly discovers that Rudolph isn't the only local celebrity who's gone missing. Jack Frost is also MIA, just days before his coronation as the next Frost King. Teaming up with Corbin Frost, Jack's reclusive brother, Lumi finds more questions than answers. What she thinks is an odd coincidence quickly turns into something more sinister. With time running out for Rudolph and Jack, can Lumi use her powers to save the North Pole?
Book 2. I love these series. Different Artist and different stories. This one is my 2 nd book. Lumi is a good witch. She runs a Reindeer Sanctuary with her family. Little puzzles are their helpers. Her mom would like her to find a date to Yule Ball. She does not want to go. But Lumi mom asks her to pick up a dress for her at Aunt Bob sho ( She is not her real aunt they knew her when Lumi and her 2 brothers were young. Once she gets there she she finds out Jack Frost is missing and so is a Ruldolph. ( Rudolph was suppose to be at Sanctuary with all the other retired reindeer. They had to keep it a secret from Santa cause it was the busiest time of year and No one one wanted him to worry) Jack brother Corbin demanded Lumi to help him find his bro and the reindeer. So they were off for the quest. This book 2 is really a fun read. All kinds of magical in this story. It is a fun read. I will definitely read everyone one of this series
Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer goes missing! All signs point to Jack Frost being kidnapped! Are these disappearances related? What will happen to Frost Kingdom if Jack can't be found in time for his coronation? Who will tell Santa if Rudolph can't be found?
"Oh, silent night." (My favorite line in this book 🤣)
This is another fun cozy mystery with a magical Christmas element. I love the banter between Lumi (a reindeer guardian) and Corbin (Jack's brother) as they are gallivanting around Holiday Haven trying to solve the mysterious disappearances.
This series is pure Christmas heaven. I absolutely adore the books so far and this latest installment was as endearing as the first.
💕 Positives: * Loved Lumi as a character. She's strong yet incredibly sweet.
* There are pixies, a frost harpy and a pegasus in this book.
* Loved the setting. Super cozy and comforting.
🚫 Negatives: None
⚡Content Warning: None
🌟 Overall, I really enjoyed this winter cozy mystery. The fantasy world is the same as the first story and is beyond comforting. The mystery doesn't include a murder, but it's still interesting with plenty of red herrings. Definitely looking forward to more adventures with Lumi and Corbin.
I love the concept of the Frost family being royalty and getting to explore that a bit through Jack’s brother.
Adding the mythology of the reindeer sanctuary and tradition of reindeer taking on the harness of the originals was beautiful and would be a great way to extend the magic of Christmas for children with questions.
Cons:
This definitely feels like the middle of a story and without reading the Bella Falls novel first I might have given this a lower rating because little to no explanation is put into how this world works.
2020 bk 380. the second of a series, different author from the first. I enjoyed this one a little bit more, the writing was tighter. Loved the characters, as they were not perfect. A good read lead up to Christmas.
I am adoring this series. The witches have the best familiars. Santa secrets are revealed 🤫. You will never think of Rudolph or the North Pole the same again. Quick, fun reads for the holiday season.
What could be better than working at a Reindeer sanctuary for Santa’s retired reindeer? How about getting called in by the royal family to help find Jack Frost before the Yule Ball. I love how this author creates these magical places that anyone would love to visit.
An absolutely enchanting tale and full of reindeer! I loved this simple love story with its side of mystery, strewn with magic. This story dripped with beautiful details, a barn full of gorgeous reindeer and winter scenery. I only wish I had the next one to get started right away.
How fun! Jack Frost and Rudolph both missing. Lumi, a reindeer guardian, and Corbin, Jack’s brother, spend time together looking for Jack & Rudolph. Romance coming?
I received this AUDIOBOOK for free. My opinions are my own.
NOTE: This review is for all three Lumi stories (and I have posted it in the boxed set as well) / Real Rating = 3.75
This is a cute set of three novellas (which together represent a whole story) taking place at the north pole, and it is perfect for Christmas listening. Each book has a cozy (non-murder) mystery they are trying to solve, and the set has a HEA.
NARRATION: I am already a fan of Ms Ronconi and she fits this type of story well.
CONCERNS: I was really concerned by the mother's lying to manipulate the FMC, but it was discussed and never happened again / There are big time jumps between the separate novellas. I would have liked some flashbacks to important moments between the main characters, to help cement my connection to the relationship.
CONTENTS: There is discussion of her nieces & nephews having a hard time during the holidays since their parents & one set of grandparents are divorced and they have to bounce around different houses.
(possible very minor spoilers) This book is Clean, the following are the only things that might be a concern to the strictest readers - A side character is a partier, womanizer, gambler, etc / It is noted that a jilted girlfriend collected her things from the guy's rooms / A comment regarding a reindeer's possible indiscretion and their not being monogamous as a species (I am not sure how sentient they are in these books, but they can be spoken with by someone with the talent) / They surprise one suspect at the house of another, who he apparently spent the night with despite them not being in a relationship (and the couch has no blankets) / A comment by one character that the previous night meant nothing to her / MMC spends the night at the FMC's cottage (although there isn't even a kiss in the scene)
This book is such a great holiday read. It takes place around the North Pole with Santa and his crew, the elves and reindeer. Everything you’ve ever heard about Santa and the magic of Christmas is in this book.
It begins with Lumi Northrop along with her parents preparing for Christmas at their reindeer sanctuary. Their sanctuary houses the retired reindeers of Santa’s sleigh. It also has many newborn reindeer that can sometimes be chosen to help with Santa’s sleigh on the big day. The Christmas season is the sanctuary’s busiest times as they receive many visitors requesting a tour.
Corbin Frost is the son of King Frost and his brother Jack Frost is missing. He must find Jack before the coronation begins. Jack is to be chosen to succeed his father as King of Frost.
Corbin seeks help from Lumi when they discover the most famous reindeer of them all, Rudolph is also missing. Corbin feels it could be connected to his brother Jack’s disappearance.
This book made me feel warm and fuzzy all over. It truly brings your childhood memories to life. Corbin and Lumi have tremendous chemistry. I don’t think I’ve ever read a book like this one since I was a child. I remember all of the stories about Santa and Rudolph and all the magic of Christmas. This is definitely one of my favorite holiday reads this year. It’s part of a series called Winter Witches of Holiday Haven. I know I will be reading the rest of this series during this holiday week.
I enjoyed this book but was slightly disappointed as I was expecting more reindeer games or at least have them more involved in the story, especially as they were in the title. Having said that, I did still enjoy this cozy Christmas mystery. This is book two in the series but as each book is written by a different talented author and the only thing that stays the same is the location it can be read as either a standalone or in any order, just make sure you read them to help you get into the Christmas spirit. There is no murder and instead is a missing person case. I liked Lumi and her magic but again would have liked a little bit more from her familiar. I just love sassy quirky animals. The mystery was interesting and played out well as Lumi and Corbin dashed around Holiday haven. Off to start the next book. Lumi is to busy looking after the Santa's retired reindeer to worry about boyfriends and parties but her mother manoeuvres here into picking up a dress just when word of Jack Frosts disappearance starts to spread. Lumi notices something the Frost guards spot to see or listen to her. Corbin Jack's brother asks Lumi to help him find his brother. Is he just being Jack or was he really kidnapped? But Jack isn't the only one missing? Santa's favourite reindeer, Rudolph has also gone missing and the clues point to Jack being responsible. To save Santa the heartache and worry Lumi agrees to help. Can Lumi and Corbin find the missing before panic sets in?
Reindeer Runes continues the fun and the chaos at the North Pole with a story that will often create even more questions before the answers can be found – and Christmas saved this year.
While Lumi would much rather just tend to the reindeer at her family’s reindeer sanctuary outside of Holiday Haven, her mother would much rather play matchmaker at every tiny opportunity.
On a quick trip to town on a so-called errand for her mother (remember, she’s a matchmaker) Lumi witnesses a strange occurrence with the Royal guard at Jack Frost’s home. And reindeer tracks where they shouldn’t be… Rudolph’s tracks in fact. Soon Lumi and Corbin, Jack’s brother, are on the search for two missing, possibly kidnapped residents of the North Pole. (and how Lumi’s mother’s eyes light up at the prospect of Lumi and Corbin together – told ya, she’s a matchmaker *grin*)
Reindeer Runes is a quick, fun Christmas Paranormal Cozy Mystery that entertains, gives more than a few chuckles, and perhaps will lead to a romance one day. I definitely had a suspect but got a few additional surprises as well. I had fun and completely enjoyed the Christmas magic of this tiny town where everyone celebrates the holiday year-round.
The first in the Danielle Garrett portion of the Winter in Witches of Holiday Haven series and the second overall in the series by five authors. I haven’t read all the authors but the ones I have share the same location and have named the owners of certain establishments the same with the same characteristics. I find this intriguing.
Each sub-series has it’s own set of main characters and different story lines. This story centers on Lumi Northrop. She runs a Reindeer sanctuary with her family. She is also a powerful witch.
Jack Frost, heir to the throne, has gone missing along with Rudolph. Can Lumi and Corbin Frost, Jack’s brother find him before the coronation date? Did Jack willing disappear or was he kidnapped?
A subplot is Lumi’s mother wants her to go to the Yule Ball and has commissioned a gown from her best friend, referred to as aunt Viv. Lumi is not keen on going to the ball or being set up on dates by her mother.
I enjoyed this story immensely. Corbin, Lumi and the other interactions where wonderful. I am definitely placing all five of theses authors and this entire series on my must be read list. I love the town of Holiday Haven and the separate series showcasing it and their unique characters. Pick up this series and you give yourself a treat from five different perspectives
I picked this up last year but never got around to reading this during Xmas time. I decided to save it for this year. I've honestly not read that many Xmas books this December which is pretty strange for me. Mhmm.
Here we follow Lumi who is a guardian of the North Star Reindeer Sanctuary. When Rudolph vanishes the week before Christmas, it is up to Lumi to help find him. Soon she will realize that Rudolph isn't the only local celebrity who has gone missing. Jack Frost is gone days before his coronation. She will have to team up with Corbin Frost to find them.
This is the "2nd" book of the series, but you don't have to have had read book 1 in order to read this. The books really don't tie in together. It feels more like an anthology series if you will. I think later in this "series" some authors show back up with their characters.
This was refreshing. It reminded me a little of that Jayne Frost series I read (I really should go back and read it again). Love the whole concept for sure.
There was a huge lull in the middle, but I was able to battle through that and finish the story. The characters were fun and I liked the mystery.
Fun and Xmas-y...def what I needed.
All-in-all, a nice mystery for the Xmas season. Minus the middle lull...this was a fun read. Cute reindeer, fun characters, and a good mystery. I'll give this 3 stars.
The library classified this as merely mystery, not cozy mystery but I should probably have guessed from the cover. I should really learn to check Goodreads classifications before selecting a book. I don't hate cozy mysteries but I generally find them a bit too bland and saccharine for my taste. In any event, this was one of the better ones. True, it is set at the North Pole as Santa prepares for Christmas and the world is filled with helpful pixies, but fantasy stories are set in improbable places so this one isn't much different. The author kept the story moving and while the plot was a little thin, and there was an undercurrent of romance, it was still okay and a fine specimen of the sub-genre. I listened to the audio version and it was well read. In addition, it was quite possible to do other things while the story was playing and never miss very much. If you like cozy mysteries I definitely recommend this one. Just have yourself checked for diabetes when you're finished.
In the mystical paranormal town of Holiday Haven, Lumi Northrop, part of the magically powerful family that runs & protects the North Star Reindeer Sanctuary for retired Santa's reindeer, is peacefully doing her chores while anticipating the tourist rush expected that day. Little does she know that, on a reluctant trip to the town, she will become involved in the disappearance of Jack Frost, next to be the Winter King. Jack has a bad reputation for being an irresponsible, annoying guy, doing what he pleases because of his position. His brother, Prince Corbin Frost, brusque & a bit bossy, teams up with Lumi because of her reindeer connections. Because Santa's favourite reindeer, Rudolph (yes, that one) is missing too. Will Jack be found in time for the coronation? Can they keep Santa from knowing Rudolph is gone? Will Jack ever grow up? Visit Holiday Haven to find the answers and maybe your next home away from home.
A lovely little book. It felt shorter than a full length novel. The characters were likable. I was curious to see how the world would develop under the hand of different authors. This author did a good job adding to the story painted by the author of book 1. Obviously, there weren't any character overlaps but it seemed as if the authors all agreed on what the town would look and feel like since they meshed together so well.
I wish there was more romance in this novel. There's hints of it but not enough to suit me.
The mystery is good.
I would love to get to know the Frost family more. Maybe the author will feel inspired to continue their stories in a future series?
I only saw a couple of errors (missing words, as usual for these types of books).
I doubt I will read more in this series because the descriptions of the remaining three didn't catch my interest.
an entertaining holiday supernatural cozy mystery series
This is a holiday themed supernatural cozy mystery series. He find cast of characters and an entertaining storyline. Holy Haven is a small town located near the north pole. Yes it is where Santa has his workshop and orioles laugh. There’s also a large community of supernatural beings in many different types of live there. The main character in the story Lumi happens to be a reindeer guardian and works on a farm that takes care of reindeer‘s. She works with her family there and if you frost pixies and others. The mystery happens in the world and she is called upon to help solve it. Along with another character or two they must find out what happened who done it and solve the mystery. A great cast of characters and an enjoyable storyline that will keep you reading from beginning to end. Each book is by a different author and a different main character. Check it out.
Reindeer Runes is the second in the Winter Witches of Holiday Haven series, but it stands alone. It’s written by a different author and features different characters, but takes place in the same world.
Rudolph and Jack Frost are missing! In this fun Christmas cozy mystery Lumi and Corbin, Jack Frost’s brother, must find the missing icons before Santa finds out Rudolph is missing and before Jack misses his coronation as the Frost king. Lumi and Corbin are likable and their interactions feel real. Corbin is powerful but funny and a good detecting partner for Lumi, who is smart and quiet, and laid back. Their blossoming attraction didn’t feel forced or overly rushed.
The mystery was well-done. We had several possibilities and the “deadline” added some urgency. The supporting cast is a colorful collection, including pixies.
With mystery, magic, and a bit of romance this book is a perfect read for this time of year.
Book 2 continues the saga in Holiday Haven but picks up with Lumi and a new cast of characters. A couple of others introduced in book 1 make an appearance, but very limited. Lumi is mentioned in book 1, so a tiny intro there to tie the stories together too. In this one, Jack Frost disappears, along with Rudolph. Thought to be a kidnapping, but how and why the two together? When Luminous finds the clue about one of Santa's reindeer being at Jack's townhouse, his brother Corbin enlists her help to search for both missing "royalty". If Santa finds out his favorite reindeer is missing, things won't look good for everyone involved. Then there is the future of the Frost kingdom too, if their future king is not returned before his coronation.
Lumi, a farm girl at heart, finds herself on an adventure of a lifetime with an attractive man sure to please her matchmaking mom.

MY TAKE What a fun, quirky story. I've read a couple other series by Garrett, and I can always count on fun and quirky characters, a mystery, and a slow burn romance. I was listening to this on my echo dot, and hubby was chuckling too.
My second visit to Holiday Haven, the Christmas themed suburb/ village outside of the North Pole. Each book has a different author loosely connected to the same world. In this one, Rudolph and Jack Frost are missing and their disappearances seem to be unconnected although it is unclear if they are missing as part of a prank or something more sinister. Lumi is a reindeer guardian at her family's reindeer sanctuary where Santa gets new reindeer and they take back the retired reindeer. Corbin Frost is the second son of the Frost royalty. Both loners, they work together to find the missing reindeer and prince and sweetly decide that maybe there is room for companionship in their lives.
Who know that paranormal holiday romance mystery was a thing? I'm here it. This was short and sweet but still a nice story. I enjoy the world of Holiday Haven.
