“Does she really not remember you?” Jax McCall’s neighbor and best friend, Chase, asked the question even Jax was wondering. Why didn’t Emmy Wilson remember him? Was he that forgettable? Will Jax finally get a second chance with the girl who stole his truck and his heart?
The last thing Jax McCall wants is a second chance at romance, especially with Emmy Wilson. She broke his heart in high school, stranded him on a mountainside, and now she's a contestant in a film project hosted at his ranch. As much as Jax should keep things all business with Emmy, he can’t get her out of his mind.
Emmy Wilson has a famous mother and famous cowboy father. She wants nothing more than to succeed on her own and this assignment can do that for her. Except the familiar cowboy who picks her up at the airport could ruin everything, especially when he looks at her like he knows even her deepest secrets.
This was a fun short read. Jax and Emmy once knew each other in their youth. They get a second chance at love when they meet again as adults. There are some funny moments with some dimwitted women that made me laugh out loud. Jax and Emmy are characters you root for and a little bit of steam.
Emmy comes to Lone Tree Ranch to write an article about Stacy’s new reality show, but when she gets there she learns she’s also a contestant. Jax is the son of the ranch’s owner. He’s loved Emmy for years, but Emmy doesn’t recognize him from the night she left him stranded and stole his truck. As they spend time together, they grow closer, but her keeping a big secret comes between them. Will they get their chance at a happily ever after or will she return to her job in New York? Grab your copy and see what happens.
A quaint, small town & rural romance. Emmy Wilson has been away from Montana for years, working to succeed without the benefit of her parent's fame. Before leaving, she stranded a young cowboy, Jax McCall, on a mountain. Now, their chemistry threatens to derail her life plan. Her interfering family and friends provide enough conflict to cause ripples upon the reunion.
This is a sweet, second-chance romance. It was enjoyable to read. The ending is delightful.
Jax can't believe that Emmy doesn't remember who he is. When she stole his truck all those years ago she stole his heart. When she ends up on his families ranch to tape a few test episodes for a video company he wonders if she will come to remember. This is such a sweet cowboy romance with incredible characters!
I was lucky enough to won this book and I'm glad that I did, I enjoyed getting to know the characters and the story line moved at a good pace. Looking forward to the next one in the series now.
Sweet premise although a little one sided because she didn't even remember him from THAT night. Also, her mother is horrific and someone really needed to tell her what for. Ended rather abruptly but enjoyed it until that point.
This book was good but a hot mess at the same time. Emmy was annoying at times and Jax didn't make sense in some scenes. They were cute together though
Jax and Emmy have a long history of bucking away, but now it’s time to stick around longer than 8 seconds. Great story and I look forward to reading more by this author.
Dawn Luedecke kicks off a new series about the Lone Tree Ranch with High Heels and Cowboy Boots. It is a sweet, steamy and very original take on a second chance romance. Emmy is full of secrets, the daughter of a movie star and a rodeo stud, who everyone thinks is her godfather. Trying to make a name for herself as a journalist in New York City, she returns to Montana where she spent her youth, to write a story about her old friend Stacy as she competes on a reality show pitting rich kids (the High Heels) against ranchers (the Cowboys). The son of the ranch owner is no stranger to Emmy - she and Jax shared a brief teenaged liaison that ended with Emmy fleeing in Jax's truck - and leaving him stranded on a mountainside. Jax has never forgotten Emmy and vows not to fall under her spell once again - and his resolve lasts all of five minutes. The two have unquestionable chemistry, and it is not long before they realize that what they were both running away from may just be what they are supposed to be running to.
A bunch of entertaining supporting characters and the fun setting of the High Heels and Cowboy Boots reality show really give this novel a fresh take on one of our favourite romance tropes.

Emmy Wilson wants to succeed on her own, outside of the spotlight of her well-known parents. She hopes to make it as a journalist in New York City, so she heads back to her hometown to write about an old friend, Stacy, who will compete on a reality show that puts rich kids, identified as High Heels, up against ranchers, identified as Cowboys. Lone Tree Ranch is hosting the event, and it should be familiar to Emmy since Jax McCall is the ranch owner’s son. She and Jax had some time together as teens until she ran off with his truck and stranded him. At least Jax won’t forget HER! Their chemistry begins to sizzle once more when they meet again. Will she push him aside to focus on her career? Will he want a second chance with the girl who drove away with his heart?
This was a good story line, and the characters were well-portrayed. Even secondary characters add much to the story line’s enjoyment. Grab your copy and see how each character’s plans unfold amid the craziness of a reality show.
This book one in the Lone Tree Ranch series. It’s a hot, funny, and entertaining. I’ll be looking forward to book two in this series. Emmy is the daughter of an actress and a professional bronc rider. Only a few people know that her godfather is actually her dad and Emmy’s been made to keep it a secret her whole life. Her mom is a very conniving deceitful woman. Mom or no mom I’d have probably cut that woman out of my life as soon as I was an adult. Emmy tried to spend as much time as she could with her dad on the ranch. It’s where she loved to be and felt the most comfortable. She was a teenager when she meets Jax during one of her stays with her father. They hit it off, but she got spooked and ran off in his truck. Now it’s years later and Emmy is on Jax’s family ranch. He recognizes her but she doesn’t seem to remember him. Jax is determined not to fall for Emmy again. Will they get a second change to find happiness?

Both Stacy and Emmy acted like bimbos. Stacy was into pot, kissing girls, acting like she couldn't spell, and dressing so she was showing off things she shouldn't. But Emmy had no problem having unprotected sex for a fling with Jax and going along with Stacy's crazy antics to keep her job. Jax is upset that Emmy doesn't remember him from ten years ago when she was a teenager and had just met him and then drove off with his truck scared about him convincing her to have sex. He has been around with women since and has no problem kissing Stacy and thinking starting something with her. I was kind of disgusted at times with all three characters. Reading about the competition where they are cooking bull testicles and calf brains turned my stomach. There were so many crazy things going on in this story, some of which were funny, but some of which made me wonder if someone wasn't going to get seriously hurt all for publicity.
I volunteered to read this ARC for an honest review. I enjoyed this story about Emmy and Jax. He's a bronc rider and she's a journalist. Her mom's a famous actress and her dad, who can't be named publicly, is a rodeo legend. When her boss informs her she's going on location for a story about her old friend and neighbor, Stacy, she never expects to be part of the show. Jax is desperate to help his family's ranch, that is why Stacy is filming her reality show there. When Jax sees Emmy, he recognizes her from the NHSRA and the girl who left him stranded on a mountain. He looks familiar but she can't place him. They bicker and there is a spark. When he finally reveals who he is, she's shocked. As the events take place they become closer, but the secret she's still holding close might damage their new relationship.

I received an ARC from the author thru Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving my review. Emmy and Jax have such chemistry together but she left him high and dry once. Jax is wondering if this time will be any different. When Emmy comes back to the area to cover a reality program, they will get their second chance. She has always wanted Jax, that has not changed, and that scares her more than anything. If anyone can make high heels and cowboy boots work, it would be these two. I really enjoyed this story. It was well written, full of emotion, with great characters and a happy ending. I look forward to the next book in the series

I give this book 3.5 stars. The book was an entertaining 2nd chance romance story. Emmy and Jaxson met in high school and competed on the rodeo circuit, but didn’t get to explore their relationship for various reasons. They finally get to do so when Jaxson’s ranch is the location of reality show titled High Heels and Cowboy Boots. It is a unique premise for a story. There was family drama, family secrets, eccentric actors, and some great friendships. I thought Jaxson overreacted a bit near the end, but it all worked out. I plan on reading book 2 to see what happens with the friends. I voluntarily read an advance copy of this book from the author for an honest review. All thoughts and opinions are my own. Repost of my original review at Amazon.com.
This book was amazing. We have Emma and Jax. Emma has a famous mother and a famous rodeo father. Jax's ranch is the scene for a reality show High Heels and Cowboy Boots, that pit city girls, high heels, against ranchers the cowboy boots. Jax picks up Emma to bring her out to the ranch, he knows her. Emma thinks the landscape is familiar. Turns out they went to high school together and she dumped him and took his truck leaving him standed. The characters were great the story well thought out and written. I hope there is more.

I really enjoy a book with a sexy cowboy and this one did not disappoint. This was a great story with fantastic characters, strong story line, engaging dialogue and easy to visualize detailed descriptions. This is a new to me author and I look forward to reading more from her.
Written as a 3rd person, multi pov with a HFN ending. I can not wait to read more from this series.

A good second chance cowboy romance with Jax and Emmy reconnecting after ten years removed from their initial encounter back in high school when she had gone and left him stranded by taking off with his truck. Parts of the book were really good and pretty funny but other parts had some questionable antics by the characters that had me wondering about their maturity. It was good but not great in the way that this author is capable of writing.

I read the second book of this series first as it was an Advanced Reader Copy. It raised a few questions so I decided that I had to read this one as well.
Emmy is sent to cover a test pilot for a reality show, "High Heels and Cowboy Boots". She gets picked up at the airport by a handsome cowboy. Jax can't believe Emmy doesn't recognize him! Then again he has grown out of the blonde hair days.
This is a cute read that can be read in a couple of hours. It is written in a dual POV format. I would only suggest that the reader be someone over the age of 18.
An enjoyable read for sure. A funny and engaging read you'll be glad you added to your TBR list. The characters are fun, easy to fall in love with and relatable. A great second chance romance to curl up in your favorite reading spot with.

A wonderful quick read about a possible reality show that pits prissy women against boot wearing cowboys - what a fun time - throw in some movie stars and bronc riders and let the fun begin!

An enjoyable second chance, worlds collide romance. Cowboys and socialites. A reality show. Family issues and the past speeding up. I enjoyed these characters and some of the antics. Some steam.

This was my first read from this author. I am not the biggest fan of the third person's point of view of storytelling. Other than that it's a good second chance story.

This was a good book . Emmy has a secret that's about to come out and it could possibly destroy her career and also the man she's meant to be with but can she tell him before everything gets out of control?
