“Eat the soil, Yoo Jonghyuk.”
Yoo Jonghyuk started to silently eat the soil. I was startled and smacked him in the back of the head. “Why are you really eating it?!”

"i could fix him" this, "i could make him better" that, well i could make him eat dirt - kim dokja.

He only wrote bad things about the party members. However, I knew Yoo Jonghyuk. Yoo Jonghyuk was a person who didn’t mention anyone he was uninterested in.
「 Kim Dok ja. 」

disgusting (lovingly).

also, this bit is probably top 10 funniest scenes in orv:

[The constellation ‘Demon King of Salvation’ is looking at his companions.]
Maybe I had hope. The others were different but they would definitely recognize me. Perhaps I wanted to believe that.
[The scenario penalty has distorted the indirect message.]
The next moment, an indirect message emerged in the air.
[The ‘Ugly Squid’ is provoking the incarnation ‘Lee Jihye’.]
Lee Jihye stared at me. “Kid, I will kill that squid.”

I have no words to explain how gut wrenching it was to read. As a fellow reader, I have been put through worst and I'm so angry at the ending. Dokja went above and beyond for his favourite book.

this volume is certainly the one that took me a lot of time to read but also the one i enjoyed the most so far and got really emotional over it as well.

it tackles some concepts i find really fascinating which im probably going to mention in my overall review (which can be found here) of all volumes anyway bc boo. it would have spoilers unfortunately. but here i would like to mention im genuinely grateful for the fact that this novel exists :)

.........and i just wanted to mention that im willing to eat hot coals for han sooyoung as well. she's the only woman i respect. han sooyoung supermacy [peace sign]

anyway also i would like to know yoo joonghyuk better. this guy needs to STOP cockblocking his own character and running away ahead like good lord king ive read 2k pages of this novel and i still dont know much about you and it's frustrating!! communicate my good man!! cannot believe hsy has to deal with these dumbasses. kdj and yjh communicate challenge for real.

Didn't even realize I finished this part, I'm at part 79 so far. I'm just casually losing my mind and screaming my lungs out while the craziest shit is happening in this book, Jesus take the fucking wheel.

It is slightly unpleasant that the translator changed towards the ending, and introduced new terms for things, and new spellings for almost all the characters...

06/28/22: i fucking cried when they started introducing each other. kdj being a former game company employee, and yjh a FUCKING FORMER REGRESSOR. THE WORD "FORMER" ISTG I DIED

05/24/23: this volume shows how much kim dokja depended on yoo joonghyuk without the latter knowing any better. yoo joonghyuk did not know that throughout his regressions, kim dokja desperately live through him because the reality is cruel to him. i internally screamed when kim dokja said that yoo joonghyuk was his father, brother, and an oldest friend. DON'T GET ME STARTED WHEN THEY FORMALLY INTRODUCED THEMSELVES: the past "kim dokja" before the scenario began, and the present "yoo joonghyuk" who decided not to regress in this third turn.

4/5 🌟

A volume of ORV isn't complete if there isn't at least one fight to the death between Kim Dokja and Yoo Jonghyuk. Sometimes you'll wonder if they're really companions. Or maybe these fights are what strengthens their relationship.

But that 'revelation' in the last part of the volume about Secretive Plotter's identity. I know it's just YJH's assumption but that idea never actually crossed my mind even once. Now, even if it's true or not, I couldn't exactly avoid that possibility. And that possibility makes me anxious.

Another 5⭐️ read!
Character development is building.
The plot continues to grow even more intense.
I also love the comedic reactions of the “constellations”!
Highly recommend!!

“Have you protected all the things you wanted to keep?"
I looked at Yoo Joonghyuk's miserable face and thought: Don't worry Yoo Joonghyuk. I'll do the rest. You stop and rest.”

The fact that Episode 98 is tittled "Have You Protected All that You Were Supposed to Protect" is making me really anxious after reading the aforementioned quote.

I have mixed-feelings towards this volume.

I'm loving this story. The characters, the plot, the world-building; everything is breath-taking and extremelly compelling. However, at the same time, everything is starting to feel quite repetitive. And that makes me so sad, because I love the story, but I hated feeling so bored during the last 25 chapters.

The third volume started great: the whole "Glorious Return" arc had me sobbing uncontrollably and dying of happiness. Seeing my babies grown and the reunion between Kim Dokja and Yoo Jonghyuk got me feeling emotional. But then things just went downhill from there. Honestly, I was so happy with how the chapter 372 ended because it finally made me excited (again) for what's to come (like, I could actually die if that is indeed the identity of Secretive Plotter).

“Yoo Joonghyuk and I didn't fit well. Our personalities were different and the way we carried out the scenarios differed. The way we communicated with others was also different. Nevertheless, we saved each other's lives on a number of occasions and arrived here.”

HOWEVER, this was also the volume that made me the most emotional; everytime they said things like how Yoo Jonghyuk saved Kim Dokja when he was growing up, or whenever Kim Dokja said that the ending he wanted to reach was just an ending he could see with everyone; all those little moments made me so nervous and anxious for the ending of this story because I can just feel it in my bones, how it will wreck me.

“The back that was now carrying her had actually carried her son. The middle school Kim Dokja and the high school Kim Dokja. He was the support. He raised the child she couldn't carry. He made the child live.”

I don't know when I'll start Omniscient Reader's Viewpoint Volume 4, though. I feel like I need a break from this story for at least two days. Otherwise, reading this light novel will feel more like a chore than something I actually want to do.

["I believed."]
["I believed in the characters I created. That's all."]

...
"Yoo Joonghyuk, I believe in humans."
...
"I believe in the story they had built."

The World is unfair. Some people find it easy to get along with others using a few words while some people regress so much and feel out of place.”

“I just want to see the end with my colleagues. Together without losing anyone.”
[It will be the hardest story in the world. There has never has been such a story. ] It was true. A myth without any sacrifices didn’t exist in this World.

They all seemed to have lost their souls despite Yoo Sangah being the one dying.

The person shouting with her short hair flying looked amazing. At this time, Han Sooyoung could be seen as the main character, not Yoo Joonghyuk.

We continued to chat away. We talked about things that no longer could be. Things that could never become a reality.

Actually, I wanted to ask her, an author.
As she was a writer, maybe she’d be able to tell me straight.
Tell me that I did good until now- whether I made the wrong choices or not, whether I would get the see the desired conclusion when I reach the end of this story or not.
“Hey, why are you crying like that? I get it, okay? I get it, so stop. There, there.”

I don’t really know what to say.
I love books that tear my mind and soul to pieces, that leave me speechless and so well written that I cannot put into words how I feel about them.
This was exactly that.
The last time I cried while reading a book was when I was in middle grade. I can’t believe I actually cried about this book.
As I said I don’t really know where to start- or finish- this book is getting more and more personal to me as I read it. Honestly I don’t know what I will do for a while before moving on the the 4th volume. This book really broke me. It shattered me into pieces. I am not the same person I was before reading the epilogue of the volume 3.

Okay now here’s the part I am dropping the author act and I will just dump things

"i am yoo joonghyuk, a former regressor" AAAAHHHHHHHHHH

this one dragged a bit for me, but still had some beautiful, gut-wrenching scenes (and the most beautiful cover my god). somewhere around a 4.5, but i'm rounding up because of how much i cried during both of kdj & yjh's fights

going to start this one off, as always, by screaming about kdj & yjh. i love these two idiots so much it's causing me physical pain. their reunion fight... the backed up text messages over the 3 years... the ending fight with yjh begging to understand why he was abandoned.... i'm going to bash my head into the wall. if orv has the sad ending i've convinced myself it's going to put me on a suicide watch

and when i say i love these idiots i mean idiots- for a guy who made being a yjh fan his whole personality it's almost impressive how badly kdj mischaracterizes him 😭 switching from kdj's pov to hsy's after the last fight was so insane like kdj being fully convinced yjh was either going to kill him or never be even remotely companionable after this while yjh is like yes.. i finally understand him a little

i, ofc, still love the rest of kimcom with my entire heart. dokja looking at the party after gigantomachia seeing the time that passed by the wounds on their body destroyed me. and outside of them, i really fell for gabriel & uriel in this one. both of them thinking about their relationship with the other when looking at kdj & yjh was so hhhhh. i need them to kiss. also, kdj's stone story?? don't ask i can't explain it but it is the cutest thing. after i read “the stone in the hand looked up at me in a pleasant manner” i had to go outside like why am i about to cry over a stone

also, if i had a nickel every time one of my favorite reads of the year had a mecha fight with one of the mc’s companions becoming a sword i would have two nickels (tgcf). which isn't a lot but it’s weird that it happened twice 😭

theory time!
i definitely don't think it's as simple as kdj getting not issekaid but issekaid into his book. i do not, however, have any idea of what i think is happening. but i just know it's not that
idk but i don't think yjh is right about secretive plotter. his points made sense but idk

What the hell! How is ORV so freaking good!

All the twists and turns that happened in Vol 3 were so unexpected, but at the same time they were meant to happen. And it was also much more emotional because Kim Dokja finally told his companions the truth: that they were in fact characters from a novel he read. It was a difficult decision that he had to make but it was the right one. Luckily, they accepted it and didn't blame him for deceiving them.

Yoo Joonghyuk also found out that he was the protagonist of the story and his reaction was much more intense. He was angry, disappointed and felt betrayed. He even wanted to kill KDJ but Han Sooyoung showed up in time to knock some sense into him.

Vol 3 was more about KDJ learning how to live and confronting his demons. He had to choose between Yoo Sangah and his mother when both of them were on the verge of death. He had to open up his heart to his companions. He learnt and understood just how big of an influence YJH was in his life:

⸢Kim Dokja had learned how to live from this man.⸥

This man was my father; my brother; and my oldest friend.

When I read those lines, it felt like being punched in the gut. KDJ and YJH were both incredibly important to each other, because they learned how to live from each other. Even when KDJ thought that YJH was going to kill him, he had no regrets. Because everything he did was so that he could reach his desired ending with the least number of sacrifices. He wanted to reach the ending with his companions and especially YJH. And I really hope all of them will safely make it to the ending they deserve.

WHOOOH I FINISHED THIS (only took over a month).
I relate heavily to Dokja because like him I place far too much emotions into books and their characters (this dude is literally experiencing that fantasy of finding himself with the characters he loved more than his actual worn out life while going through multiple existential crises based on seeing them as characters compared to people and his emotional dependancy on them).
Very fun book, we get more mystery on who Dokja actually is (he thinks he is normal but I doubt that to be the case), as well as the stern emotionless protagonist being emotional and admitting he cares. Also the scenarios created in this book are so well thought out and never cease to surprise me. One of them was a supposed "be given a bounty and hunt down that specific person for their name", but turns out there is a loophole where you can just collect the parts that make up their name from different people, and then you've completed the scenario without actually hunting down the person. Explaining this to people who have no clue what is going on is hard ngl

There are so many twists in one book. This one is different from the others I've read because there is no beautiful writing or painful frivolity.

Just scenario after scenario. Even then, I was completely obsessed with all the characters.

Dokja is now one of my all-time favorite protagonists. The decisions he makes that are completely against the system are interesting.

There is still so much to be revealed.

Looking forward to an epic ending to close my long journey.

Although I didn't want to, I accidentally saw the painful revelation at the end of the story. It's not fun when you scroll on tik tok and see posts, curious about how it ends.

And then "BOOM"

I hope the last two books will be a bit shorter (I really want a happy ending) it's so sad not being able to walk with the characters anymore.

So see you in the next review (I hope this story won't make me cry anymore.🥹🥹)

P/s: Dokja lost his family huhu so painful...

*crying at 1am*

"Tell me that I did good until now - whether I made the wrong choice or not, whether I would get to see the desired conclusion when I reach the end of this story of not."

"If we are already characters in a fictional novel, why did you die for us over and over?"

“Helping someone who didn't want help could be a curse. However, some people couldn't ask for help despite needing help. It was because they had never asked for it before.”

Jesus Christ, this is so good.........

I honestly don't know what can I say without spoiling anything since this is already books three. But I loved it as much as I love the first two. No faults. Everything is perfect. The story is progressing, Kim Dokja is being Kim Dokja, I'm crying or almost crying in public places over several moments here.

Please, please, please read this if you are at least a little bit interested in isekai (not a basic one either!) and game-like worlds with high stakes.
