Right from the first sentence, I was immediately hooked. I'm one of those oddballs who keeps intrusively thinking, "Wow, I really love this," while I'm reading something really good, and I circled back to that thought nearly every single paragraph. The emotions, the prose, and the characters were all wonderful, and I was SO impressed by the unique take on the spirit world. I'll admit I haven't really read many ghost-centric romances (only two come to mind, and they were both YA stories), but Esc ...more

Such a wonderful little novella - it stole my heart and made me want to cry. I wish there had been more, I wanted to delve deeper into their story.
I read this in my own, slightly dilapidated, victorian home and the story came to life around me. I could almost imagine it all taking place right in front of me.
It is a perfect little romantic read, especially around halloween.

Oh goodness, what a delight this story is! Sumptuously written, and I mean sumptuous—the way Stephanie shapes her prose is a thing of beauty. The love story in this is sweet, quick and powerful, and the ending is absolutely perfect. If you are after a quick but beautiful read, give this one a try. Well done, Stephanie.

If you're looking for something short, sweet, and breathtaking, then this novelette is for you. It was just over 50 pages, but packed such an incredible punch. This is a love story that will haunt you (no pun intended. Well. Maybe a little) for a very long time. The author is really, really talented, and it shines through on every page. ...more

What a delectable little story.
In only 55 pages, the author conveys a whirlwind of emotions for the reader to sift through. From utter loneliness to fascination and love, to despair.
Claire and Dorian had all the reason in the world to feel what they felt - their wounds of loneliness closed by the connection they felt.
I was unsure where this book would go, how it would end, but was both surprised and pleased with the way it so beautifully wrapped up.

"You were not here, not like this, just yesterday. Not even moments ago were you this real. I feel like every second you become more palpable to me, and it's more than just my perception of you. You're like the moon waxing into sight."

Escobar's A Song Beyond Walls is a brilliant novelette that explores the thinning veil between the human world and what lies beyond.

When Dorian purchases a beautiful Victorian home, he's drawn to the old world charm and history. But it's when he encounters the spi

“Many things are worth our limited energy in this world, but we should not spend it on what will only continue to drain it away.” — A Song Beyond Walls, S. Escobar

This beautifully written gothic novelette has simply left me in awe. Escobar’s attention to detail paints a full picture, utilising all the senses, as she allows us to peer into the perception of an unraveled entity wading between space and physical. I had no idea that 55 pages could steal away my heart and leave me speechless. But, s

"His smile made me remember that sensation of heat again."

When two love but only one lives, the other simply existing and thriving on sensations, old and new, both the constructs of time and will are tested.
S. Escobar has provided such an entrancing tale that pulls you in and keeps you tethered to both the realm of the living and the Great Space beyond.
Much deeper than most love stories, A Song Beyond Walls is a telling of the unknown desires of the dead and the ones that live to free them, t

4.5 🌟

A SONG BEYOND WALLS was a light and easy read which ensnared me from the first page through to its masterful ending. It was a beautiful exploration of death, longing, and the curiosities of life, written in a lyrical tone.

Since it was a shorter read, repeted phrases and words were easily noticed. Also, some scenes were not as descriptive as others, but still enjoyable.

I highly recommend this wonderful read!

Stunningly beautiful, heartfelt, a 55 page poem or love letter to Life and Death that I didn’t even know I needed.

The love story of Dorian and Claire could have gone on forever and I still wouldn’t have been prepared to leave them, but perhaps leaving the very last page is also a sort of Unraveling.

I can’t wait to see what this brilliant author writes next!

I stumbled upon this short and sweet story by accident, but boy am I glad I did. It was the perfect cozy read on Halloween. Her vivid imagery and emotionally charged descriptions evoke a fierce yearning, long after the final page. She infused so much life in a story under 50 pages long. I eagerly await anything this author releases next.

I just adored this Novelette! My only complaint was it wasn’t longer. I wanted to go deeper into the characters world and learn more about them. I was hooked from the start! I can’t wait for more from S. Escobar!

A Song Beyond Walls is an exquisite gothic romance novelette about a tender and unexpected love that crosses dimensions and filled me with a multitude of emotions in the best way.
Claire and Dorian have a rich depth to them and I was immediately hooked and invested in them as individuals as well as their relationship.
The writing is as hauntingly beautiful and expressive as the love story between Claire and Dorian.
Highly recommend this beautiful, limitless, gothic romance story.

This was so so good! I was drawn to it because my friend illustrated this beautiful cover, but the actual content blew me away! It was so so beautiful, sweet, gothic, and interesting. Stephanie Escobar is a balancing act—tottering constantly between fantasy and reality. By a glance, one might not guess that the mother and wife spends half of her existence within the universe inside her, where she chases stories through labyrinthine gardens and down the cold, shadowed corridors of stone castles…always with a candle’s light to guide her, of course—and a cape billowing in her wake ...more
