Never run from an Alpha.

As the only werewolf immune to the curse forcing my kind to shift every night, I’m a bit of a hot commodity... and not in a good way.

I went to New York thinking it would be the safest place to hide.

Wrong decision.

The city is home to one of the largest packs in the world. Its leader?

Tall, strong, sexy, and determined that I’m his.

I'm giving this read a 2 1/2 star rating. Now I did enjoy the storyline and characters, what I didn't like was hen our H. Like most H's this one had a horrible backstory and a reason behind the way hen acted, but the author went on and on with our h's trama, and then instead of our H growing from it, it held her back making her ugly, manipulating, and just down right horrible. Our H justifies the bad decisions she makes, and horrible petty things she does because she's been hurt. And the

A huge thank you to Lola who provided me with an eARC!

First thoughts: Henley is a sassy badass. I love her ‘I own myself’ vibes. I want her hair and to share a pizza with her while she mixes some fancy alcoholic beverages. 😂

This fast paced debut novel was a dramatic and exciting read, filled with action and sexy shifters. It contains a lot of past trauma discussion involving abuse and neglect by alpha males, with some brutal fight scenes so I’d recommend for mature readers only.

This world has an interesting take on the wolves. The wolf is almost a different person inside, with separate emotions. They have “true mates,” but can imprint on someone else if something should go wrong. They live in packs in houses together, have alliances, and a council. I liked this world-building.

I was honestly astonished at how much I loved this book. It definitely became an instant favorite. If all shifter/werewolf books were like this, I might become a fan! There were so many great part

This was a pleasant surprise of a book. And one of those books that allowed me to see past some of the tropes that usually put me off.

This is pretty much a pure PR book, in that the only plot is the romance between then two characters. Usually I prefer the Urban Fantasy style plot/romamce ratio, so I was somewhat impressed this held my interest, as it's quite long.

I think there were a couple of reasons this impressed me. Firstly, the author manages to do the damaged and tragic heroine trope in a

I devoured this book. It is a beautiful mix of hot shifter romance and trauma recovery. The main character, Henley has been through some terrible things, but when she's accepted into the New York werewolf pack, she finds friends, and perhaps even a new family. While plenty of questions are left unanswered (leaving me DYING for book two), there is no doubt that Henley has found a new place where she can become the woman and wolf that she was meant to be.

I really loved how the author created a be

The premise was a winner & the sample was interesting. Sadly, the story deteriorated as it progressed. The fact I found the h attitude petty & contrary helped move the rating even lower. Although the reviews for book 2 seem to be promising I’m not convinced it’ll be worth the effort after such an abysmal attempt at world building & character development. 🤷🏻‍♀️ Pass.

Pet peeve. Torture (not overly descriptive or detailed) Ended in a cliffhanger.

Different, but in a good way.

I love that it's not your typical insta-love werewolf story. I love that the Alpha doesn't use his power to get what he wants. I love that the female character can take care of herself. I love that the pack lives in the city and not on a huge piece of land, like a cult compound. I'm looking forward to finding out what happens with the Alphas of All. Awesome job, Lola! I read a TON of books, and this is different.

Full disclosure: I was very kindly gifted an ebook copy of this book in exchange for my honest review. All thoughts and feelings on this book are my own and in no way influences by the author or publisher

I was pleasantly surprised by this book. I honestly didn’t know how I would feel about it when I first picked it up as it isn’t my usual sort of book, but I actually really enjoyed it. I found myself smiling at it a lot!

It is one of those books that is insanely easy to read. you know those books

I liked this story and enjoyed it. But the problem was that it started to get to a point where I was ready for the end. There seemed to be entirely too many scenes that didn’t really say or do much. There were so many questions that were left, and I know now that it’s part of a trilogy so I should be excited to read the next book. Only I’m not. My gut feeling is that there should have just been an ending. I feel like I’ve watched her and Romans back and forth enough that i just want to

Eeeee! This book was so amazing! Plus WEREWOLVES! I mean, they’re basically my most under-read paranormal creature (I know, shame on me) and I am always reminded of how much I love them when I do pick up a werewolf book. And this one definitely inspired me to make sure I read more of them. I mean, it has a slow burn will they won’t they romance that will just HOOK you!

I think what I loved most about this romance is that it was almost a healing slow burn romance. It was a more of growing to trust

Henley Clark is a unique wolf shifter with an ability that is coveted by all of the packs. Her presence in a pack enables them to resist the forced changing into their wolf form. So she is hunted and forced to remain in a pack which usually means she is abused. She escapes and runs, but is invariably captured by the next pack to endure this torture over and over.

After the last pack she escaped from, she wants to be free of all of this. She heads to New York, thinking it’s a big place and easier

I love all things fantasy. In part, I think it may be because I find the genre to be a great form of escape. I admire the imagination that it takes for an author to build a world that is, while not real, entertaining. When I say entertaining, that does not mean everything is puppies and rainbows. Some intense social issues can be addressed within the storyline, as was the case in this book.
When you open a werewolf book, you know what you're going to get. Strong characters with overbearing and

I flew through this book! The characters were so well developed both of the main characters as well as the secondary characters! I really got invested in all their storylines, the secondary characters just as much as the main characters, which is a skill!

I specifically loved our main character Henley’s “I own myself” attitude, she is very down to earth character, she’s broken but coping, guarded and rightly slow to trust. I love watching her interact with the pack and her guards turn

Wow!! This pulled me from a huge book funk and gave me a reason to want to spend time reading again. This was all the things I needed! The Alpha was hot and take charge while our girl was a mix of mixed up feelings and desires. What's a girl to do when her scent makes her highly sought after and at the tippy top on each alpha's must mate list!?

Hen has really only experienced the very worst of life. She's been a prisoner, pawn, tortured and forgotten about since the age of eight. She's learning

I couldn’t put the work down, it was one of those stories where you are going to read a chapter or two before going to bed and the next thing you know is it’s two in the morning and your toddler has joined you in your lazy boy two hours ago, sprawled out across your lap and legs asleep and you both should get to bed. The plot was fantastic; the main character development was great, you felt everything she did. I cried with her, laughed with her, felt her pain, and endured every struggle with her ...more

A great start to a new series and new to me author

This is a new to me author and while a lot of the book IS telling the book is still well written enough. Henley is a slightly different character bc she’s had a hard life but she isn’t completely tainted by it. She recognizes her issues with trust and works with them. She’s up front and honest qualities I do like in my FMC.

I also felt like her pushing Roman away was believable, due to her history of course she’s going to think she isn’t good eno

Henley is a werewolf who at the young age has suffered a lot...Henley is a runner, but she’s also a badass she wolf. After running away from her most recent pack, Henley finds herself in NYC. Being a bartender is where Henley can truly escape her nightmares—if only temporary...until wolves find her.

Oh, what a fun and fast paced read this book was! I truly enjoyed getting to know more about Henley and I loved the secondary characters as well. This is a slow burn ro

I’m a total sucker for shifters, fated mates, and alpha a-holes. I’ve read so many that I have lost count. The great thing about this book is despite that, it still stood out to me and was enjoyable and fresh and came with a whole new spin. Henley is a great main character she is strong, funny, and a survivor. Because of her gift she has been sought out and abused by many alphas in the past. She is running and hiding and just trying to stay alive. That is until she is found by Roman......... swo ...more

'Surrender or die'

For most of Henleys life she has only known betrayal and violence, from her pack and from her Alpha's hands. She trusts no one. Henley has been living in New York City for six months under the radar, since running away from the Colorado Pack. She has been working her normal bartender job until one day the owner comes in. He's a werewolf too. She's a werewolf who isn't supposed to be there without the New York Packs knowledge. But for once in her life, Henley is given a choice.

Written well, but I seriously grew to have an extreme dislike to Henley. She was a super B word. I kept reading and waiting for her to get somewhat “nicer” or even fair to Roman but at 65% in I decided I couldn’t take it anymore and skipped to the end. Idk if she ever got any better. But after 65% in, reading some here and there to get to the end, I still feel like I have no idea why Roman even liked her. She rejected him constantly and not in nice ways. I get she was abused since 8, she had

This book was so much fun.

1) loved the new take on shifters -- they have to shift every night involuntarily, but can also shift at other times
2) loved the gender equality of pack leadership with alpha males and females
3) really liked Henley, the protagonist -- she's scrappy and tough
4) loved the drama -- between the hero and heroine, but also all the other characters
5) loved the supporting characters -- they illuminate the world nicely, and I rooted for them

My reason that it's not a 5-star read

For the most part I enjoyed this read. This was a new to me author and I liked the writing style. The storyline was engaging and had some intriguing twists that I found very appealing. Overall, this book held my attention quite well. There is a solid cast of secondary characters and I felt that the main characters were likable. Henley was a blend of sympathetic and spunky. Life had certainly not been kind to her so it's no surprise that the girl has some major baggage. Roman, I think is a winner ...more

I'm all about werewolves/shifter romances. This felt like a really unique take on them! I love the way her wolves work. There's so much that's different about them than other shifter series I've read. This has got a somewhat slow burn romance, and I really liked how it played out. Henley is a really interesting character and I'm so curious to learn more about her! And I liked Roman too. But I also really loved the other girls and how they dev

I have a deep love and fascination for shifter/werewolf stories. I liked the unique take of 'wolfsbane' and Hen's character in general. She is a strong female character, yet she still has insecurities and issues she deals with. There were a few times those issues made me a little annoyed because they just felt too high schoolish but at least she's growing. Roman. I just really like him. He's got depth and he's willing to do so much to prove himself. What really stuck out to me was the

Great start to a series

I liked the plot and characters. I was a little frustrated with Henley pushing away Roman so many times. I wish there was more romance but I understand why there is not. I hope book two is not as angsty.
