Great information for parents and grandparents!
As a parent of two young children, I had wondered how to go about preparing for the cost of the type of education that I know my children will need in the future.
I was so happy to come across a book like this that clearly explains the steps to take to get started and to stay on track with an investing plan. The book has plenty of useful information about exactly how 529 plans work but it also contains a lot of encouragement for parents (and grandparents) and practical suggestions for making the most of the time we have to save.
I now realize that it’s easy to open an account and that any amount saved is that much less that my children will need to borrow. I also realize that the state and federal tax benefits of 529 accounts can help a lot.
I plan to let relatives know that we are saving for the future so that they can consider giving a gift to the childrens’ 529 plan accounts instead of items we don’t really need or have room for.
I believe a book like this will help many families with children of all ages.

Finally a resource that demystifies college savings!
I highly recommend this book for anyone with a child under 18! It starts by explaining what these savings accounts are, tells you how to open one, gives tips and tricks for saving as much as possible, provides examples of different methods of savings (benefits and drawbacks) and even warns of potential pitfalls. It is very thorough and extremely helpful. As someone who is just starting to save for college, this is exactly the book I needed!!

If you have kids, grandchildren or other loved ones who may seek higher education, you need this book. Part 529 primer, part motivational guidance, Route 529 makes it easy to navigate the otherwise complex topic of saving for college. The author shares some of her own personal insights and provides numerous tips for saving, even when saving is difficult. Whether you’re just getting started, or you’re already halfway down this road, this book will help you make the right decisions.

It may not be the most entertaining book, but it's helpful and it's an easy read.

This book is excellent and gives the perfect combo of personal story (of the author's own experience with arranging her son's 529 plan) and expert advice (she works in the 529 industry). I would definitely recommend this book to anyone looking to set up a college savings plan for their children or grandchildren. Thank you, Patricia Roberts!
