After being deleted about a thousand times by the GR admins because it was no actual book this gem is finally going to be available as an audio and e-book!!!!

This just made my day and if I wouldn't commute to work right now I would have jumped around like a ferret! 😂😂😭

I'm so happy I could cry!! But people already stare at me because I jumped and yelled "YAS" under my breath so.... Let's not scare them even more. 😂🙈

All I'll say is AIDAN!!!! 😍🥰❤

While I'm glad that I can finally add this to my shelves without having it deleted every other second by other Goodreads Librarians...I went out of my way to get this because it was "exclusive" and the "only way" that I was supposedly able to read it. That's a tad disappointing. I literally could have just waited a few months, had I known about this. Couldn't they have released another novella set in the Illuminae world???

Regardless, I read this earlier this year and it definitely piqued my inte

I love that this is being released in an audio and ebook format! 😍 Proof!

I haven't read my print copy of this novella yet because I keep putting off finally "finishing" the series, but I might have to grab the audiobook just because I love AIDAN's narration so much. 🥺
Okay mostly I'm excited this is being released OFFICIALLY so that Goodreads will finally accept it XD

I won a copy a while back (two copies, actually - I donated the second) and it was a fun little read! Here's the review I originally tacked on to the end of my Illuminae Review.

The novella is a prequel, introducing AIDAN before the events of Illuminae. It's a short story but it adds a lot of interesting depth to Aidan's character and the conversations with Olivia were rather intriguing.

Gonna come right out and say it

Been patiently waiting for this moment, because it was inevitable.
Feel bad from my international frands who dropped a pretty penny for this though.

I have very mixed feelings about this being released in E-book and Audio.
On one hand I love this series and I am happy I can read this soon.
On the other hand, it sucks to promise readers for exclusivity and promising that this will never ever be available in any format in the future and then now we have it in multiple formats?

Sounds fishy to me, it sucks specially for INTL readers who paid a fortune for it. If you are gonna say that you are doing this because many readers wanted it and 2020 suc

Just saying... my God I missed this series so very much. I certainly hate to love AIDAN, and love to LOVE AIDAN!

That is all.😉

This broke my heart.
Now I wanna read the series all over again even if I know it's gonna hurt me a lot.

AIDAN is seriously messed up and I love it. So it's nice to finally have it's origin story.

”we do not die who live on in beloved hearts.”

character cameos, funny banter, chaotic aidan ramblings... this was everything i expected and more :D if you’re a fan of illuminae or want a small taste of what the main trilogy has to offer, memento won’t disappoint.

aidan is the most complex character in this series and learning about everyone who impacted his character is so fun. for a short novella, it was incredibly enjoyable. !!!

At least I can mark this on GR now. That's all I'm gonna say about them releasing this when it was specifically an exclusive item for those of us who preordered Aurora Rising last year. Whatever, I guess people needed money during the pandemic.

I remember liking this for the brief history of AIDAN but it felt like it was just emotional torture porn in novella form. It didn't bring anything to the story, and sometimes why something does something is best unanswered. It made AIDAN even more terrify
If you're conflicted, but missing a certain murderous AI, then you'll be as ecstatic as I was to discover that limited release prequel, Memento, is now available to the general public and gives the story of AIDAN and the events leading up to the Kerenza IV attack aboard AIDAN's ship told by a full cast.

Memento is a prequel that can be read/listened to at the start or anywhere along the way of the series as far as timeline is concerned. That said, if you've not started the series yet, I'm going t

I’m so happy this was finally published for everyone to read!!!!!! And that there’s an audiobook with the amazing full cast and sound effects and wonderful production!!! These audiobooks seriously deserve all the awards. They add so much to the story and it makes an already awesome book into the coolest experience ever.

I definitely was not expecting to cry over another book in this series again, but here we are. This was, of course, incredible. AIDEN

I am one of those people who have an unhealthy love for AIDAN and getting to see more of what the days were like in the run up to the entire Illuminae journey was so good. I adored this snippet as much as I adored the trilogy. Makes me want to dive in for a reread.

If you haven't read the Illuminae Files then I highly recommend it, although any books written by Jay Kristoff and Amie Kaufman should come with warning labels for emotional distress. These books will draw you into the vortex and spit

While I am salty the promise of exclusivity was broken with no acknowledgement (It was HEAVILY marketed as never being available in any other format), I am glad I can finally add this book to my reading challenge.

It was so nice to get to listen to an Illuminae book again! I snatched this up the minute I was able. It's such an immersive experience. The 1 1/2 to 2 hours flew by, yet I still felt ALL the emotions.

My original review has disappeared, but the story is Goodreads eligible now! So that's super fun, especially for people who missed out on the book as a preorder incentive! I do think it is nice that it isn't going to be printed, that will hopefully keep people from complaining that it wasn't actually exclusive, though I would be 100% in favor of it being printed. But it is tiny, I literally cannot even see the 'spine' between Obsidio and Aurora Rising, so you aren't missing out not having a phys ...more

Loved this just as much as the trilogy to the point I definitely think I need to read the illuminae Files again. I was so glad to hear the other day that I was finally gonna be able to get this book as I have been looking for a hard copy.
I can say nothing but good thing about this book even though it is so short. you feel as though you've learned a little more about Aiden and were he started to mold himself into the AI we love. Just like all the other books you cant help but feel for Olivia thou

Holy s&@$! What an incredible addition to this already sensational series! I have a renewed abundance of respect for the incomparible partnership that is Kaufman and Kristoff. I absolutely adore prequels and the insight they can provide. And when it’s unexpected, it’s even more of a delight. Here’s where we learn why AIDAN is how it is, and yet the reader can still decide whom to believe. Just like the quote above, AI and the morality of it’s ever expanding role in our lives will continue to pla ...more
