Friends to lovers? Is that even a real thing? Delilah Brown Sycamore Springs might be a great place to live for most people. For me, it's a nightmare. Between a horrible boss and taking care of my sick mom, there's little time for day-dreaming, but when I do manage a few minutes, sexy Sam's always there. I know he's great, but I can't be distracted from my responsibilities even when he pushes buttons that I thought were out of commission. Samson Kershaw Happy and in love--can you have one without the other? I'm trying hard to accept the possibility. Problem 1 - I am not a couple and have no prospect of becoming one in the near future. Although there is definitely a connection between the hairdresser and me. She won't take me seriously, which is problem number 2. Delilah's as independent as she is beautiful and completely uninterested in a real estate agent who turns into a fool around her. 5* "An engaging romance with a lot of heart." 5* "Well written with great characters."

5 stars I received a free copy of the novel The Trouble With Love: Sycamore Springs book 3: Delilah and Samson by Cheryl Phipps and this review was given freely. A Well balanced poignant attraction finally realized romance with the dark undertones of sexual harassment, child abuse, end stage cancer and of drug abuse but ultimately ends happily as Delilah and Samson find love and a supportive family in good friends. Overworked hairdresser Delilah Brown stresses over her full time job and caring for her terminally ill mother while trying to ignore her attraction to the sensitive and caring but at times socially awkward real estate company owner Sampson Kershaw.
The Trouble With Love captured my interest from the beginning and refused to let me go. I had to stop fussing with Christmas and sit and read until I reached the end. Lila and Sam are both very well developed characters. Lila certainly has her share of troubles. This well written story details their struggles to an HEA. I was mesmerized.
Delilah (Lila) is trying to make a life for herself after a string of bad decisions left her homeless. Her kind, loving mother took her back without a thought. Now they are facing the recurrance of her cancer. Her mother has a way of looking at life that is contagious and makes all who know her love her. Samson is a handsome real estate agent who stumbles upon Lila at the store when he is forced to deal with some unpleasant "guests" - who would have thought that an hour in her salon chair could be the beginning of so much more. But will Lila let Sam in or will she keep pushing him away. Will her boss, Sonya, be anything but nasty, especially when Lila needs her understanding and a little compassion? There are moments in the story that had me laughing out loud, and others that left me sobbing. There are some poignant moments as both Lila and Sam face their pasts and learn to move forward with compassion and love. I had not read the previous two books in this series, but it did not diminish my ability to enjoy this story. Now I may just have to go back and start at the beginning.
💇Lila: a gal with more troubles than just romance!💕💔
4.5🌟 stars
I would say this story ranks as a pretty good departure from the usual romantic trope love stories because it mixes the couple's courtship with a truly touching mother-daughter love story.
Author Cheryl Phipps created a humorous meet-cute for beautician Lila and realtor Sam; great names for this couple; and a leading man who's too nice for words and got a bit of knight in shining armor complex. But my heart really went out to Lila trying to make it despite so many obstacles and the loving relationship between her and her ailing mom. A bit of a tear-jerker, really, and like in real life there are some hard truths to swallow and inevitable sadness that temper the joy of newfound romance.
I really enjoyed it😊!
I read a complimentary advance copy of the book; this is my voluntary and honest review.
"Dreams are the only thing free and they’re harming no one"
Two people from opposite sides of town come together against a single foe...at first.
When Samson Kershaw meets Delilah Brown there's a distinct attraction. Both have been badly burned. Lila cares for her dying mother and works at Sonya's salon. Sam runs a real estate agency and he too is not a fan of Sonya who has a number of people who avoid her.
Perceptions build barriers...can love break them?
This book hooked me...and I'm not that big a fan of contemporary romance. But Phipps (who I have never read before) can craft a story you can't help but love. Highly Recommended. 5/5

I received this book for free and am giving my honest and voluntary review
Delilah is a woman who has been burned by love and been homeless. She is taking care of her mom who has shown her unconditional love and took her back. Samson is a real estate broker who has fallen in love with Delilah. Different lifestyles has Delilah wary of Samson.
The Samson and Delilah references at the beginning of the book and then finding out there was a Jack and Jill along with an Adam and Eve makes for a merry reading. The characters’ personalities were displayed with perfection. I enjoyed reading this book.

Delilah Brown has returned to Sycamore Springs to take care of her sick mom. She is fairly busy and has all she can handle with her job and her mom. She has little time for distractions, especially sexy Samson (“Sam”). Sam would very much like to date Delilah, but she doesn’t take him seriously. How can he get the stubborn woman to realize he’s serious about her?
The characters are done well in this fun story. Grab your copy and see whether the two of them have a future together.
This is a well written book with strong characters in Lila and Sam. The author brings a heartwarming story and does a wonderful job developing both her characters and story line. I was glued to the pages from start to finish with all the emotions flowing throughout. The story moves fluidly and is a heartfelt read.
I voluntarily reviewed an ARC of this book. All opinions in this review are my own and freely given.

"The Trouble with Love" is a sweet read that had me hooked from the start. The characters are well described and at times it feels as if in transported to watch them in a movie. I would like to read all three Sycamore Springs books again l.
