Flirting with Fire follows our two main characters : Daring, opportunist, fire loving Tate, who is dealing with the loss of his twin; and the shy but determined yoga instructor Endre, who is living life day by day with his own demons to face. It's a story about second chances, lots of mental health and addiction discussions, and characters who love to sass each other, and fire love.
First, this book deals with a lot of mental health related issues and also talks about two different char

While book 2 was an emotional read, Flirting with Fire was even more so.

Endre's life hasn't been easy. He's a substance addict and while he's in a 'dry' period, he's still struggling with the pull to use, especially when under being thrown for a loop by his mom's visit, and having to figure how to get a fake boyfriend for Thanksgiving. On top of that, his best friend/roommate/business partner suddenly tells him he has feelings for him, and has to move on from both thei

Flirting with Fire by Grace Killian Delaney is the third book in the Shore Thing series.  This contemporary MM romance had me feeling emotional.  These characters crawled into my heart and told me their wonderful lovestory.  Made my heart happy.

Damn! Has Grace Kilian Delaney’s writing flourished! The opening of Flirting with Fire gripped me with its raw emotion and tore at my heart. With thoughts and images so vivid, this standalone story in the Shore Thing series captivated me from beginning to end. If you’ve not read a previous title in this series, don’t worry, the supporting cast and their relationships to the main characters are well explained. But do take the time to read their journeys as it’s all the better.

Flirting with Fire is a wonderful hurt/comfort read by Grace Kilian Delaney. The third book in the Shore Thing series, it's easily read as a standalone.

The themes explored throughout this book are heavy. There's a huge emphasis on grief, guilt, depression, and addiction. Everything is written with extreme care, compassion, and heart. It's realistic, emotional, and all consuming. I am downright impressed with the way the author handles everything.

As for Tate and Endre, they meet via a radio con

This is the first book I’ve read by this author, and I’ll be looking for more. Although this is the 3rd book in this series, I still followed this story without any trouble, although of course I want to read the others now.

Tate and Endre are both men recovering from tragedy, and damaged in their own way. Although it’s Endre who has depression and is battling addiction, Tate isn’t managing to put the death of his twin brother behind him. I thought the author did a fabulous job in showing the twi

These poor MC’s went through a lot. Tate lost his twin brother basically to the hands of their mother. He is a stuntman who travels the world to perform stunts in movies and lives in California. He comes home to spend thanksgiving with his dad who ended up making plans to go away with his girlfriend. Endre is a recovering addict and the reason why starts off the way so many do, accident, serious injuries and the meds that are supposed to help you, but can lead you down a dark path. Endre’s busin ...more

Another “new to me” author, another “new to me” series and yes another case of me picking up the 3rd book to start with instead of the 1st. Some things never change 😉 The good news is that this book was touted as a stand alone and that’s pretty much the case. The only thing I was missing by not reading the first two books (Living on a Dare & Dancing with a Star) was getting to know Tate’s friends that were featured in those additions to the Shore Thing series. Which, by the way, I intend to rect ...more

This book was a lot more emotional than the ones before it. The way in which the author had the story play out was nicely done.

I liked Tate and Endre, both together, and individually. The fact that they were brought together by a dare, brought me back to how much I enjoyed the first book. Dares are not new to this series. This time, instead of bringing together two old friends, it’s two strangers. What was meant to be fake...just pretend...becomes more real than they planned. Unfortunately, life

I enjoyed this story. I liked the journey Tate and Endre had to take to get to the end. Endre is so much stronger than he gives himself credit for but when everything seems to go wrong at the same time it makes everything harder. Tate has made a good life for himself but still struggles with his brother’s death years ago. I liked how these two found each other and their instant attraction, even more I liked how well they were able to get along once the initial meeting was over. Their un

An intense glimpse into life with mental illness

I am impressed and that is so very difficult to achieve these days. This book just blew me away. The raw emotion and graphic detail about dealing day to day with mental illness was beautifully written. It rang true and not glamoured up for added intensity. The relationship between Endre and Tate was a difficult one with Tate’s past dealings with mental illness and Endre’s continuing struggle but love won. This is the 3rd book in the series and each

Flirting with Fire is a love story filled with healing and redemption. Tate and Endre both have tragedies in their pasts and both continue to struggle even ten years letter. Although they meet by accident, it seems like fate has destined them to be together. Tate struggles with the guilt he has over his twin brother’s death ten years before. Endre struggles daily with an addiction he developed after being hit by a car ten years ago and badly injured. It was both wonderful and heartbreaking to wa ...more

I’ll get straight to the review, because everything you need to know is in the blurb. First off, I must say I really loved the writing. The author uses fresh visceral responses, great internal narration, and witty dialogue. She also knows her characters. Their voices jump off the pages.

As for the characters, I really liked Tate. He was a great hero. Understanding, witty, charming, fun, but full of scars. Being such a go-getter, he didn’t allow himself to wallow too much in self-pity. Pain-filled

A sweet emotional second-chance book. Tate lost his twin and best friend and haven't really let go. Endre lost the love of his life, became and addict, losing his best friend and still still struggling with his addiction. The two meet a radio contest and a dare, somehow, they make it work and love prevails. Tate is a stuntman and he's dealing with lost of his brother and his father hoarding. Endre is dealing with his best friend and mother. The book has a great flow to it, easy to read, all the ...more

I loved Tate and Endre, their relationship, the way their character backstories were developed and meshed together and the plot the author chose for them to follow. A fake boyfriend for the Thanksgiving holiday and an age gap romance are blended together for one very hot and emotional romance. There are plot twists that are just perfect and you will be rooting for these two to get their HEA. It won't matter if you have read the first two books in the series or not, this one stands on its own. Do ...more

Tate is a stuntman who travels the world doing stunts in movies. When he comes home for Thanksgiving, his father has forgotten and made other plans. Tate’s friend dares him to enter a contest. Endre is a struggling business owner. He needs a “boyfriend” because his moms are visiting for the holiday. He enters a contest and wins Tate. The men have great attraction, but both must get past their past and make it work. This was a wonderful story full of so many emotions. I am voluntarily leaving a r ...more

Tate and Endre. A stuntman and a yoga instructor meet unconventionally. Endre needs a boyfriend to introduce to his mom at Thanksgiving. He has had a rough life, with an accident that utterly changed his life. A radio contest provides him with an awesome fake bf. There are jealous best friends, lovely dates, great and popular friends, big decisions, lost loved ones and a big coincidence between the MCs. It’s a well written book with a heartfelt plot and a sweet but bumpy relationship.

Tate and Endre’s story is a really cute fake boyfriend / blind date story at it’s core. I loved however how it was amplified to a more complex level with the characters’ backgrounds and emotional trauma! There is a lot of in depth view into grief, depression and substance abuse recovery that really makes the story full.
There were some moments where I wish the author delved a bit deeper or showed more of a scene, hut the overall impression is of a very well written story!

A pleasant story, with a bit of a twist I probably should have seen coming, but didn't. Delaney should really get a better proofreader, though - one who knows that it's your CONSCIENCE that bothers you, not your conscious. THREE TIMES. Basic word misuse like that is pretty amateur, and if I had been reading a physical copy, I'd have red penned the shit out of it.
