This is a relatable story for any child who has separated parents. When Tom's father has to leave, he is very sad and doesn't want to be cheered up. Until his teddy bear tells him a story about how his daddy comes to visit him but has to leave, too. I would use this in my classroom as a sensitive way to bring up separation for students dealing with similar issues.
