Chiah Wilder writes about rough, sexy men who know how to treat their women.

Always a lover of books, she began writing at a young age and continued through college with collections of short stories. Figuring she had to grow up and get a “real” job, her writing was placed on the back burner.

Her love of reading has always been center front in her life. Chiah’s love of bad boys both in and out of fiction has inspired her books. She loves an alpha male whose softer side is brought out by a passionate, spirited woman. In fiction there are no rules or boundaries, and fantasies can go as far as the characters want to take them. Steamy, romances with tough, sexy bad boys are her guilty pleasure along with brownies, cheddar cheese, and movie marathons.

This was a really cute story that was quite enjoyable. Smokey was a swoon-worthy character. A full-throttle story with some cat and mouse action which is always a lot of fun. With everything, Ashley endured along with her family she learned real quick to toughen up if she was ever going to survive the pain and heartache her womanizing father left behind.

The story had a great cast of characters and had a lot of highs and lows and just the perfect amount of romance to keep us intrigued and turning the pages. We are so loving this series...

Smokey loves women and his whiskey. He has one night stands and is a member of the mc. He is dumbfounded when he meets a woman at the bar who doesn't fall into bed with him. Ashley is looking for a new job after having to put her old boss in jail for crimes. She's on the run and looking over her shoulder. She ends up getting a job at Smokey's business and he will be her boss. Ashley tries to avoid men but Smokey is irresistible and a bad boy. Can the two take down a stalker and stay safe? A good read and series.

Chiah Wilder has done it again! If you like your biker's hot and sassy then you will adore Smokey, he is everything you would dream your MC book boyfriend would be and more! A story filled with passion and bathed in suspense - another great Insurgents Motorcycle Club book!

Smokey loves women he doesn't deny that and women flock to him - he is just one of those types of guys that must have been sprinkled with magic fairy dust cause the women adore him and even if the turns them away they are still left leaving good. One of 5 boys Smokey's dad was a low life drunk he beat the kids, and beat his wife but she still protecting her husband. When Smokey's dad died he didn't go to the funeral as he says 'he isn't a hypocrite' - but he still pays the bills has food delivered to his old home - more so for his youngest brother who if he isn't sorted out soon will turn out to be a drunk like they dad. Smokey's family is the club and thriving construction business he and the club own!

Ashley has a tough exterior her dad left her and her mom and brother when she was 7 a womaniser who jumps from one woman to another. They lived in shelters and Ashley had to get a hard skin pretty quick at school when the kids found out where she lived.

Now years later she is a marketing exec for a large company and if she pulls of this next job she may even make partner only trouble is she needs to leave Denver and head to a small town called Pinewood Springs and help her bosses friend market his construction company.
"We're a lot alike in that life's deceits have kicked us in the ass, but it's also made us more resilient. We're survivors, and that's something no one can take from".

From the moment Ashley and Smokey meet the sparks fly not all good at first as Ashely can see a lot of her dad in Smokey always playing field and maybe at first she lets that colour her judgement of her new client. Smokey has never been interested in one woman but he can't get the black hair blue eyed woman from his mind. The fact she turned him down and challenges him all the time turns him on - but Ashley was grateful to leave Denver for another reason that she hasn't told anybody about but it appears to have followed her to Pinewood; while Smokey and Ashley navigate they growing attraction and believe me their attraction is of the charts hot the danger to Ashley is gathering in the shadows - he can Ashley trust and who can't she and will Smokey be in time when Ashley's past comes to Pinewood Springs!

I read this book too fast. I should have savored it more because I really hated for it to end. Chiah Wilder is one of my favorite authors and her series Insurgents MC is one of my all time favorite series.
Smokey is a big playboy. Not interested in a relationship because he doesn't believe in love. Not after the way he grew up. He has the club, his construction co., and any woman he wants.
Ashley is a business woman hoping to make partner in the marketing co. that she works for. She is so scared of becoming broke that she is all work no play. She loves her family but doesn't believe in love with a man. They just leave and leave you broken hearted and broke period. She is sent to work up a marketing campaign for Smokey's company and warned he is a player.
While working for Smokey some really weird things start happening to her. Slashed tire, egged car, etc. Could this have anything to do with her past or has she pissed someone else off? Can she fight off her growing attraction to Smokey.
A few minor questions are left unanswered but most of the time it comes out later. Can be read as a stand alone but much better if read in order.
Adult content and violence.

Smokey & Ashley

Ashley was almost there--a partner in the marketing firm. She didn't want to take on the friend of her boss whose playboy rep made him choose her because she was so dedicated she could deal with him. She didn't want to take him on but when she found out the man she sent to prison with her testimony was getting out the timing was good. It didn't take long to realize why Smokey had a reputation.

Smokey was a dedicated, hands-on construction company owner. Not to mention a hot, charming, biker. Yeah, the man had charm along with his cocky attitude. He wasn't used to being turned down. He didn't mess with employees but she was different and he didn't plan to let her getaway.

Meanwhile, working on his account, getting other accounts, she was being pranked with annoying but not dangerous things. Or was she? Could it all be part of the plan to get to her by the man she'd testified against?

Smokey has his own problems, not counting a full workload plus, familyIssues, and club problems along with going after Ashley he was a busy man. Their chemistry is steamy. Can they find a way to be more? Do either of them want more than a night which won't work with their continued working together.

It is a packed story with lots of suspects, time with his brothers, watching her learn about the MC life, and the steam they create when they are near. Another good one.

Loving this next installment in this series! Ashley has spent her entire life in the city and working towards building her career especially after having a bad situation happen with her previous employer. When her boss sends her to his hometown to work with an old friend, she is up for the challenge after she finds out her old boss has been released from prison. Smokey is part of the MC and lives the eternal bachelor lifestyle. He is very hands-on with his business while also handling his MC duties. When this pair meets and sparks fly, the joke is on them when they find out who each other actually are in relation to them. While they seem to fight their relationship based on their pasts, they finally give in and things go smooth, with Ashley being extremely confident and Smokey finally taking a chance. But when Ashley’s past comes to town and it also intersects with Smokey, it risks them parting ways. The suspense throughout this book was literally killing me! I was constantly trying to figure out who was behind things, and when I found out I was floored! Can’t wait for the next installment in this series because I can’t get enough of this author’s suspenseful writing!

A One-Click Book!!

Smokey was quite the ladies’ man that ran his own growing construction company and could have any woman he wanted. Those he did not partake in were still left without feeling totally rejected. As a member of the 1% Insurgents MC he lived life on the edge and never thought he would be one of the brothers who had old ladies. Well that was all about to change when a marketing rep walked into his life. His friend had sent Ashley to help promote Smokey’s construction company and he seen her as the one with all the right packaging. Ashley was at the top of her game and wanted nothing more than to be named a partner in the firm she worked for. She was also running from a past that was now threatening her.

This book was full of plenty of steam and chocked full of suspense. Would Smokey be able to keep Ashley safe while trying to keep her at arm’s length? This is definitely a recommended read that will keep you on the edge of your seat all the while fanning yourself!!

This is a 3.5, mostly because there was a side storyline with Smokey's brother that I didn't think was necessary and I thought that it detracted from the story a bit.

I do like Ashley. I think that she is smart, but maybe a little naive sometimes. I understand her behavior and feelings in certain situations because I would have done and felt the same way too. I also get why she didn't necessarily want to get involved with Smokey when she first met him, and then definitely why she didn't later either.

I think that Smokey's an OK guy. He's not the best out there nor is he the worst. I do think that he was a player and he was definitely surprised when Ashley turned him down. That had to be totally shocking to him.

This book was well worth the wait!! I can’t believe on book 15 this author keeps coming up with original ideas, but she does. Ashley is working on her a promotion with Smokey’s company but also running from her past. Smoky is smoking hot (pun intended), alpha to the core and A total sweetheart. What more can a girl asked for? When Ashley‘s past catches up with her will she run into Smokey’s arms?

Smokey's Distraction: Insurgents MC by Chiah Wilder is an outstanding addition to this wonderful series as these no nonsense alpha bikers love and play hard, but most of all the love of the brotherhood and family come first. Smokey is a player that can have any woman he wants, a successful businessman and loyal to his brothers of the Insurgents MC . Because of the abuse he and his brothers had to deal with from an abusive father, he is hard pressed to fall for any woman, his one soft spot is his younger brother. When Smokey encounters a no-nonsense woman who is hired to help market his construction business these two will butt heads from their first encounter leaving Smokey unable to deal with his work, his club responsibilities as all he can think of is Ashley. Ashley is a survivor with the life that was dealt her growing up and is now on her way to make partner at her firm, but she is told by her boss that she needs to help out his friend first. When Ashley is told to beware of Smokey as he has been with plenty of women but with no desire of making a commitment. Smokey is instantly attracted to this beautiful headstrong young woman who won't give him the time of day. Now for once in his life he has to work to get this woman to take him seriously. Ashley is drawn to this hard, edgy sexy man especially when she learns he is a member of a MC. The more she turns Smokey down they discover that they have a lot in common regarding issues with family and how they both struggled growing up as they are survivors. Little by little Ashley finds herself giving into his advances and these two will begin a fast and steamy relationship leading towards love. But things will not go smoothly for Ashley as she is being stalked, can it be the person she sent to prison, out to get his revenge? Or is someone else plotting to get rid of her? Smokey will do anything to save his woman, but will he get to her in time? So many twists and turns in this story that is drama packed, everything one would expect to happen in the MC world. I reviewed an advanced copy of this book. This is one story that once you start reading, you find that you will have to finish this book in one night.

Ashley was happy to get away from Denver because the man she had testified against was out of jail now and he promised in the courtroom to get her and since he got out someone was following her and she was told that if he bothered her to let the prosecutor know, So now she is doing a marketing job in Pinewood Springs for the next 3 to 4 months. She was at the Blue Belly a bar that offered live music one of her favorite bands is playing and she decided she wanted to come and see them since she got into town she was staying at a house her company had here she was from Denver and she missed her family and friends but she was trying to make partner and she lived for work, She is supposed to meet her boss on Monday morning she met Whitney a waitress at the bar who was really nice and then she was being hit own by a man she had seen around the club since she came in he was fine every woman in the room seem to be hitting on him and he was loving it but when he came to her she gave a fake name and danced with him and he walked her to her car but that was it. Smokey was a man with a lot on his plate including family and business he was so taken with the woman who rejected him that he couldn't see straight if his boys could see him riding through the hotel and motels around town the next looking for her car they would laugh him out of the club, Smokey was a member of the Insurgent Motorcycle club and they ran Pinewood Springs he was also the owner of a construction company and was looking for help with marketing and his friend Zack offered to send his best up to help him out on Monday morning he met the woman from the club and they were both astonished. He was determined that they would be together and she was determined to keep him at bay even though she wants more but he was a playboy even the women in the office were all over him. A very good storyline and the characters are very interesting. I was given an ARC from Bookfunnel without obligations. I am providing an honest review.

Smokey’s Distraction was a great 5 star read and book 15 of the Insurgents series.
I was pulled in right from the beginning.
Ashley discovers that her old boss is getting out of jail soon, fearing for her safety she takes the opportunity to get out of town for a marketing job for a few weeks.
I will say that Ashley does have some trust issues and let’s her mind wander at times about people but when you're new to town and weird things are happening I couldn’t blame her.

When Smokey meets the spitfire at the bar he is instantly drawn to her. And when these two discover that he is the one that she is helping with the marketing campaign things get even more interesting. When Smokey finally convinces her to go out with him watch out, these two have some very steamy moments.

When Ashley starts seeing someone creeping around and feeling like someone is watching her everyone is a suspect in her mind. Weird things start happening and creepy phone calls. Smokey turns into instant protector mode and does what he can to keep her safe. Will it be good enough?

Overall I really liked this book and all of the characters. I loved the tough but gentle Smokey and was drawn to him right away. Ashley was a good fit for him. I was going through my mind trying to figure who was harassing Ashley and I was completely thrown off and didn’t even come close, which was great. I have always enjoyed this author's writing and series and I look forward to reading more from her. 1-click and get started today.

Suspenseful Page Turmer

This is book fifteen in the Insurgents MC. This book was delayed and I had been waiting and waiting for it. I finally got it and I am so happy. It is well written and the pace was good and I was kept there on the edge of my seat and an every page turn.

Ashley is offered a job and she can't turn it down as she is running from her past. She testified against her former boss four years ago and he was just released from prison. Her new boss is slightly misleading in a good way and makes an offer she can't refuse at the moment. She has good friends and when she lands in the new town she makes a friend when she gets there. Though she has no idea someone or something is lurking in the shadows.

Smokey is not a relationship sort of guy. He can have any club girl he wants. He doesn't even have to try. He is a rough and gruff outlaw biker that demands respect. When he goes to his local bar he setsw sights on Ashley right away.

Ashley’s new friend warns her that Smokey is not into relartiuonships and she is too committed to her work to have one as well. But sparks fly and theta re attracted to each other. He likes her sassiness and smart mouth. She tells it like she sees it. SAhe also classifies all men like her father. A series of things start happening and she thinks her former boss has followed her. Smokey deosnt have the best of relationships with his family either. So they have that in common.

This book is supsensful and we have to wait on pins and needles to find out what happenes. So worth it. I was dirty, gripping, and very much page turning. I ahve read this series and I have to say this may be my foavorite of the series. Everything is there. When you think you have the answer you dont. The relationship that progresses between Smokey and Ashley is fun to watch unfold.

I look forward to more

Sadly I haven’t read this entire series, I missed a few in the middle, but trust me I will be going back and catching up. Why? Because this is a fantastic MC series. Ms. Wilder has a way with words and her bikers are just like I like them: hot, alpha, dedicated to the club and protective. These guys play hard and love intensely.

Smokey has a successful construction business and is also a member of the Insurgents MC. After growing up in an abusive household (his drunken father) he knows his club brothers are the only family life he ever wants. His only tie to his blood family is his youngest brother who he tries to keep on the straight and narrow and not end up like their ol’man. Smokey is also known to many as a playboy. Trust me when I say he doesn’t have a problem getting a girl for the night. He loves the ladies and they love him. But one thing is for sure, no woman is going to find themselves in a relationship with him.

Ashley had to grow up fast, living in shelters with her mom and brother from the age of 7, because her dad left them for a string of women. Kids were cruel when they found out how she was living and it caused her to become a strong, hardened, independent woman who definitely had an issue with playboy men like her dad. So when her boss has her take on a new marketing client, Smokey, sparks fly and not in a good way. At least not for Ashley. But the more she balks about helping Smokey, the more he’s turned on. But trouble is on the horizon and not just from their butting heads.

This is a very exciting, suspenseful and steamy MC read. I highly recommend grabbing it up and enjoying the thrilling ride. 2 Thumbs up and 5 Stars.

Smokey's Distraction is the latest in the Insurgents MC series from Chiah Wilder. While the series is made up of standalone books, I personally feel a reader might want to have read at least the last in the series to understand the club's interaction with another club but otherwise could enjoy alone.

Smokey and Ashley both come from lives that have forced them to survive and toughen up. Ashley's wary of Smokey's playboy lifestyle but cannot deny she's fiercely attracted to the rough and tough biker. She's a challenge to him and Smokey doesn't like to lose. Eventually the sparks between them ignite in a big, sexy way. Meanwhile, Ashley must also figure out who the stalker is making her jump at shadows.

While I've enjoyed the last couple books in the series, this one was just ok for me. It felt a little disjointed at certain points, with the author attempting to keep us guessing by throwing too many weirdos and oddities into our path. Also, the conflict with the other club came a little out of nowhere, since it was barely discussed before the actual conflict itself, which was why I suggest reading the past books to help fully realize that situation. Despite these things, I liked Smokey and Ashley together and loved their growth throughout the story.

I was pulled right into this story. The story has laughs, pain, sadness, and heartbreak.

If you have not read the below I would recommend reading those books(s) first
Hawk's Property (Insurgents MC, #1)
Jax's Dilemma (Insurgents MC, #2)
Chas's Fervor (Insurgents MC, #3)
Axe's Fall (Insurgents MC #4)
Banger's Ride (Insurgents MC #5)
Jerry's Passion: Insurgents MC 6 (Insurgents MC #6)
Throttle’s Seduction (Insurgents MC #7)
Rock's Redemption (Insurgents MC #8)

Wheelie's Challenge (Insurgents MC #11)
Christmas Wish (Insurgents MC #12)
Animal's Reformation (Insurgents MC #13)
Shadow's Surrender (Insurgents MC #14)

This is Ashley and Smokey’s story. When these two meet they both judge each other, and sparks fly. But Can they overcome the judgment they threw at each other to start something? The attraction and chemistry is there but she is hiding some pretty big secrets. This book is loaded full of edge of your seat suspense and danger. Can he protect her? Or will the secrets she is hiding cause the end of them? Can she really plan a future before dealing with the past?

I was able to connect with the characters and the story was a great read.

I recommend this book.

Ashley is a marketing executive living and working in Denver. Her boss wants her to work on a job in Pinewood Springs and she has to temporarily relocate. She's a city girl and isn't looking forward to being away from her friends. But, she knows she needs to do this in order to get the big promotion that she wants. Besides, she just found out that the man she testified against and put in jail was just released so she's happy to be moving.

Once she gets to Pinewood Springs, she heads to a bar and meets this hot dude, but she's not interested (or at least that's what she tells him). It's a good thing she doesn't hook up with him because it turns out that he's her client. Ashley is full of sass and has no problem dishing it out to Smokey. Even though he's your alpha biker, he loves her sass and likes the challenge.

Ashley needs to have work done at her company's housing that she's staying in. Her boss hires these creepy guys to do the work. But then things start happening and she starts seeing somebody stalking around her at work and at home. She's afraid it's her old boss that was released from jail. Luckily Smokey is there to help her.
What a great read! There's nothing better than watching a big alpha Insurgent fall for a woman! Love the Insurgent Motorcycle Club!

Smokey’s Distraction is the latest installment in The Insurgent’s MC, and let me tell you, Chiah does not disappoint! Smokey is a smoldering ladies man who has no trouble getting what he wants; Ashley is a no-nonsense business woman looking to further her career and has no time for philandering men. The combination is a match made in heaven. Both have come from broken homes but have persevered to chart their own destinies and break free from their pasts. Unfortunately, Ashley has a past that will, without a doubt, catch up to her and test her strength and the bond between the two. I love the slow burn between Smokey and Ashley, the building of trust, the commonality of working towards leaving behind imprinted demons. Ashley is most definitely a distraction to the driven biker who is looking to grow his business, but gets caught up in the fine line of playing with his employees … definitely a struggle for him to find the balance between his business needs and his personal desires. Loved everything about this book – slow burn romance, who dunnit mystery, and a happily ever after!

Awesome

Ashley is a marketing executive and testified against her former boss years ago. Her boss wants her to go live for three months in Pinewood Springs to work on a campaign. When she believes she’s being followed, she agrees and leaves as soon as she can. Smokey is in the Insurgent Motorcycle Club and owns a construction company. He isn’t into relationship and loves his single life and has no interest in settling down. Ashley meets Smokey at a bar and turns him down. The first day at her job and her boss is Smokey. Ashley wants to be partner at her company and wants nothing to do with Smokey. But the more she learns about the sexy biker, the harder she falls. When it looks like someone is stalking Ashley, Smokey will do anything to keep her safe.

This was so good but I’ll be honest, I didn’t care for Ashley. She’d kiss Smokey, then push him away. She was jumping to conclusions about others in the town. Now Smokey I adored. He was rough around the edges but seemed to have a good heart. The suspense was edge of your seat. The sex was smoking.

This is the 15th book in this phenomenal series and is Smokey and Ashley’s journey. Smokey is sexy, loyal, and confident, and a magnet for women. Ashley is feisty and a workaholic, and when her past comes back to haunt her she takes a job out of town hoping to escape from it. When Smokey and Ashley meet there is an instant attraction between them, but she is no push over, and she makes him work for her attention, and when she finds out who she is working with the chemistry between them is explosive. When Ashley’s past comes back to haunt her will Smokey be able to protect her and keep her safe? This is a well written flawless story which had me totally enthralled throughout this addictive page turner, and this story is filled with suspense, emotions, twists, and is an entertaining and riveting read. I highly recommend this for all MC lovers.

Who is Ashley? What news does she get that rocks her world? Who is Jeffrey Elion? Where is or was he? Who are Zack, Mark, and Gage? I have a niggling feeling as I am reading the story about what is happening and why. What do we learn about Smokey and his past with his blood family? Who are Hannah and Skeet? What is going on with Ryan and why? Oh my goodness! Who are Brady and Jared? What do we learn about each of them? What happens to Ashley while in Pinewood Springs had me unable to relax until just before the end. Some characters, I changed my thinking on as I read. Others, I definitely did not change my opinion on. You should read this story to see what I mean!

OMG I thought the first book in this series all them years ago was good but this, number fifteen was brilliant, I just love the Insurgents motorcycle club, those rough but loving bikers who fall hard for there women. Chiah is a fantastic author her writing is flawless and seamless, pulling you deeper into the storyline, there was so many twists and twists my head was in a spin, who could be the culprit or culprits??? Ashley and Smokey had there own sad story upbringings, now there futures were definitely on the up, they had a burning chemistry that was off the charts, but commitment was a big word, were they ready for it??? This was such a fantastic romantic page turner and so hard to put down. I also enjoyed catching up with some of the old faces I was given this as an ARC by the author in exchange for a voluntary honest review which I was totally happy to provide.

Smokey's Distraction by Chiah Wilder is book 15 in the Insurgents MC Romance Series. This is the story of Ashley and Smokey. I did feel this could be a standalone book. Both Smokey and Ashley had a awful childhood that has made them who they are today. Ashley is starting a new life after landing her ex husband in jail. Ashley is drawn to Smokey but isn't liking his womanizing lifestyle so much like her father. Smokey is used to women falling all over him and not having to work for their attention, but Ashley is so different. Smokey knows that Ashley can be a game changer for him if she would accept his attention but then she turns out to work for him. Enjoyed their story and I will be reading more from this author.

Ashley is determined to keep her focus on her career as a marketing executive. And so far it has taken her pretty far in the business world. When she is sent to do a job in a small city, she reluctantly leaves her big city roots especially when she suspects someone is stalking her after her boss is released from the jail she put him in. Smokey has his hands full with his construction company and the Insurgents. He doesn't have time for his new employee, no matter how much she stirs his interest. However, Ashley is facing some danger from her past and Smokey is definitely not going to allow that. Intense heat, twists and turns, likable characters and a strong storyline kept me hooked from page one. I voluntarily reviewed an advanced copy of this book.

4.5 Smokey Stars🌟

Loved returning to our favourite outlaw club, the Insurgents❣️This time the story is focused on Smokey and Ashley. Ashley arrives from Denver in the small mountain town, after she has a scare one night leaving the office. She’s sworn away from men and only wants to focus on work and a potential partnership with the company she works for. However, the minute she meets Smokey it all goes up in smoke💨

A good story with some action packed and suspenseful moments but best of all an HEA😍 Can’t wait for more by Chiah. I received an advanced copy and I voluntarily leave my honest review❤️

Oh, this book cured me of my little MC-obsession for a while at least. Last couple of books were tolerable. This one was just too damned slow. Took 6 days to get through. No way was it a 6 day read.

While I quite liked the characters; she was far too wish-washy for me. I am less tolerant of women who don't know what they want in stories like this. Own who you are, dammit!

I was a little surprised that he told her to call the ‘badges’ if anything went wrong. Wouldn't he tell her to call the MC and let them handle things? Still odd thingslike this were quite off-putting.

And again with the no epilogue; these books would be much better with an epilogue.

A bit of a meh read.
