I read this with Julianna this week. She gives it 5 stars. Great Book & illustrations. And we love all the great pictures and fun facts about animals living in the wild. Things for Julianna to look for and identify. Peek through pages in board book etc. Great Author/Ilustrator! Loving this series of books.
Although this board book offers basic information about animals typically found in the wild, some of the creatures featured here such as stick insects and meerkats, aren't the run of the mill animals usually found in introductory books for children. This one encourages them to spot various creatures or objects, and each page allows them to peek into the next one as the sturdy frame around the main scene gets smaller, the closer readers get to the end of the book. There are even some small, thumb-size holes at the bottom of some pages where other species can be glimpsed. The colorful images and short statements make this one easy to digest and one that will call for multiple readings, whether shared or completed independently. Encouraging concern for animals and the natural world is important so this book might be a good choice for parents, caregivers or teachers who want to instill green consciousness in their charges.
Great cardboard book that Mummy lets me touch more than other books. And special because my Dad chose it for me and reads it with me. I learn lots about animals and I like the “I spy” aspects on the page too.
A nice, lap time board book that introduces children to different animals. I love the peek a boo aspect of the pages and think it will be appealing to children as well.
