Lake Fisher #3

Feels like Rain

Rate this book
Lake Fisher is a place where miracles happen, and if anyone ever needed a miracle, it’s Ethan Roberts.

One of the hardest things that Ethan has ever had to do is walk back into that small town, the place where he’d once made his biggest mistake. But walk back in he does, because he has a son who needs him.

What he never expected was to walk back in and find her there too.

Abigail Marshall was Ethan’s best friend when they were children spending summers at Lake Fisher. Abigail doesn’t see a broken man with a shady past. She sees the happy boy she once knew.

But Ethan is not that boy anymore. Now he’s a man hated by the townspeople, and for good reason. But he hates himself even more.

Despite the rumors and innuendo surrounding his past, she leaves the door open for him to step right back into her life and it feels like they never spent a day apart.

Twenty years changes a person, but when Ethan and Abigail are together, the past just disappears.

But how long can he keep it away? Because the one thing he’d never be able to endure is Abigail hating him too.

Tammy Falkner lives on a farm in a lovely, sprawling little town in rural NC with her beekeeper husband and a house full of boys, a few dogs, and a cat or two (or five – who has time to count?). As half of the Lydia Dare team, she has co-written ten books, including the Westfield Wolves series and the Gentlemen Vampyre series. A huge fan of Regency England, she often wonders what other kinds of magical, mythical and strange creatures might live and interact within the ton. Exploring the theory that the fae can walk between Regency England and their own land, Tammy spends as much time as possible with the lords and ladies of society, horse-drawn carriages, and elegant balls. Now add to that some faeries, a little murder, a bit of mayhem, and a troublesome garden gnome, and you have her exciting new series. She hopes you enjoys her world as much as she does.

Tammy Falkner's books are always so honest and heartwarming. They're easy to love because they’re easy relate with, full of incredible fun banter, wonderful characters and a lovely, touching plot. Feels Like Rain is brimming with all the best parts of romance.
“You two are so sweet you’re making my back teeth ache.”

Sexiness: 🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥

Overnight, Abigail Marshall’s life has become a mess. Her husband cheated on her, and she lost her job and her home because of it. Wanting some time and space to think, she goes to the place that holds most of her fondest memories. Including those of the boy who made her laugh.

Ethan Roberts made a mistake and paid dearly for it. And now, even though most of the people from his home town would like to see him leave, he’s back to take care of his son. He never expected to run into his childhood best friend while working at Lake Fisher.

He knows he’s broken. He knows he has nothing to offer Abigail and should stay away from her. Yet she sees past his self-loathing and into his heart making him feel he hadn’t felt in a very long time: hope. But will his past come back to haunt him?

Tammy Falkner knows how to write wonderful stories. There are so many great elements to comment about FEELS LIKE RAIN. There are all the wonderful supporting characters the provide comic relief and always present and much appreciated family values that inspire. Mr. Jacobson (Lake Fisher’s patriarch, Ethan’s mother and Abigail’s grandmother) all provide support and valuable advice. There’s even Wilbur the duck who at times steals the show.
“Nobody knows how to be a parent, you d!psh!t… We protect them from what can hurt them, and push them toward what can help them, and we love them even when they hate our guts. That’s parenting for you.”

Then we have the charming and appealing main characters. Ethan, a good man, but lost soul. All he wants is a chance and Abigail is the perfect person to not only leave the door open for one, but also shine a bright light in his path. The two are amazing together, from the respect and appreciation they have for one another to their incredible chemistry to their constant smile inducing banter. You can’t help but cheer them on.
“But I brought cake!” I let my eyes drag down his chest again. “And you brought the abs.” I waggle my brows at him.

I really enjoyed how Abigail and Ethan reconnected after so many years. We get flashbacks from the summers they shared as young teenagers. Even though this is not a traditional second chance where the main characters fallen in love as new adults or older and then get separated, it is a second chance at love and happiness for both.

FEELS LIKE RAIN ran me through a gamut of the best feels. It made me laugh, smile, swoon and blush and even had me at the edge of my seat for a bit. I had a great pace and left me beaming.

Feels Like Rain is a standalone, contemporary romance. Told from both points of view with a fabulously happy tears ending.

True to form for this author, another heart grabbing, endearing story with wonderful characters. I loved Abigail/Ethan. Mr. Jacobson (Jakes's dad) is once again a stand out. Wilbur the duck and Ethan's son, Mitchell are adorable. Terrific addition to this series.

I received this free eARC novel from the author. This is my honest review.

I seriously cannot contain my excitement about this series! Every book is amazing, they make you FEEL everything, they are something any reader can connect with, and I just feel so happy by the end of the novels. This book was not a disappointment at all!

Feels Like Rain is a "lighter" book compared to the two, but I still think it packs a punch when it comes down to it. Also, I really, really need to find my own Lake Fisher and experience this life, but everytime I visit with these books, I want to go here and live my life here :)

Ethan. My God, Ethan's story really broke my heart. This man has been through SO MUCH, and the townspeople are still judging him. And the sad part is that Ethan feels he needs to be judged, when he really doesn't. I also love how shy and cute he is. Abigail made him blush SO MANY TIMES, I found it adorable. Usually I like the main guy character to be brooding and gruff, but boy did I love those scenes where he blushed and seemed embarrassed!!

And Abigail. I could not imagining going through what she did, but I did relate to a few of her struggles at the beginning of the book and her lack of emotion when everything was revealed. She was lost and just floating by, so I'm really glad that her life changed, even though it was really a devastating situation, she found the light at the end of the tunnel in the end.

My all-time, favorite, cannot-live-with-out character Pops, Mr. Jacobson, whatever you need to call him, absolutely made my day with this novel. Usually Pops makes me cry by laughing so hard I can't breathe, but in this book, he made my cry with tears on how devoted, how strong, how caring he is. When he stood by Ethan, I could not handle the amount of tears I shed because I could feel his love, and when Pops gives you that love, you cannot help but feel everything. Sure, I missed his playful, gruff side, which we still get a little, but this book set in stone how much I really, really love him. And I'm glad to see things starting to look up for him when it comes to his own romance ;)

I am thrilled that I was able to get an eARC of this novel and I'm so glad the day that I discovered Tammy Falkner's novels. I have gone through a lot of emotions with her books and I will always read her books, eARC or by 1-clicking them! I can't wait for the next novel of hers!

I love Lake Fisher. I love the characters that find their way back here. I adore Mr. Jacobson beyond words. Ethan's story is a lovely testimony to fighting your back after devastation. And Abigail is a person I'd love to be friends with. Great, as always, with this series and this author!

This wasn’t my favorite out of this new series. The best parts had to do with Ethan’s duck and with Mr. Jacobson in my opinion. I just didn’t find Abigail’s apathy in her situation very believable. I would say this was an okay read for me.
