This was a really good Lantern Beach mystery and adventure. I enjoyed it from beginning to end and it really was a great follow-up to Hide and Seek. Looking forward to the next one.

Shock and Awe picks up one week after Hide and Seek ends. I highly recommend reading the series in order, especially since there were threads that continued into this story.

I am trying to decide what I can say without giving spoilers! While this story has a new mystery, another mystery is woven throughout the series' three books. I can only imagine that it will be an epic conclusion!
This is another fast-paced, edge-of-your-seat mystery novel. I love that it picked up right where the first book left off. I love that the main characters are the same, while the mystery is not. It is difficult to figure out who is in charge of all the mayhem. I highly recommend this one, and I immediately started the third book. This is a perfectly binge-worthy series.

Wow, what a beginning! This story has so much packed into it!
Life has gotten more and more complicated for Police Chief Chambers. It seems wherever she turns there is another crime and they keep coming. Now her time is running out, will this be the case that makes devastating events happen in her and Ty’s lives.
The new rash of crimes has threats going around left and right. Chief Cassidy Chambers needs to keep her head in the game or she just might miss something. She can’t let emotions take over. Fortunately, she has help from the Blackout team and Mayor Mac.
I’ve said this before, but I have to say it again because it’s so true!
Christy Barritt truly is a gifted author because you feel EVERYTHING these characters feel. Her books are always full of suspense, action, and twist, and turns. This one is no different. It is so suspenseful I had no idea which person was the true bad guy. I’m still not sure they got all of them. Could there be more?
This story has so much packed into it, it was hard to breathe sometimes. My heart was pounding and my mind was going fast trying to figure out how it was all going to end.
If you LOVE mystery, suspense, action, with a little bit of romance then you will love this book!

My thoughts: this suspense was full of twist and turns, and the story is fast paced. Even though it is the second book of a series and I'm not sure what number book of a spin off series, it stands alone. Readers might want to read the first book of the series though to find out the story of Annabelle. There are some unfinished story lines but that just leaves the door wide open for another book to follow. And I can't wait to read it. If you'd like suspense, I recommend this book and this series. I was giving a copy free. All opinions are my own.

Another great read in the Lantern Beach Guardians Series by Christy Barritt. This one continues the mystery in the first book. I love the way this series has a mystery solved in each one, but there is a huge mystery that keeps going in each book.

Shock and Awe by Christy Barritt picks up directly where the first book in the series left off. Of course, with each individual novel in this series, there is a mystery in each book, but there is an overarching mystery that appears to affect all three novels in the series. Cassidy’s past resurfaces and collides with her present. What is she supposed to do? To keep the ones she loves safe, does Cassidy run away or does she face the danger head on? The mystery unravels as the pages of the story unfolds. The mystery was nicely handled, and I couldn’t wait to see who the bad person was. Overall, a must read fans of Lantern Beach and Christy Barritt’s novels.

Lantern Beach’s police chief, Cassidy Chambers, is back with a difficult case to solve. There could be a connection to other crimes on the island or possibly to her hidden past, so she feels even more at risk. Never fear, this intrepid woman will persevere despite threats and danger and plenty of excitement along the way. The suspense is as thick as the approaching storm clouds, and the author keeps readers guessing as to who the guilt persons might be. She also throws in some twists and surprises, which add to the tension. I’m so glad there’s another series with the wonderful setting and characters and a thread linked to the original. I received a copy from the author. All opinions are my own.

Clearly, something drastic needed to happen. Police Chief Cassidy Chambers is being hemmed in along multiple fronts; a grisly murder scene with an unidentified victim, a state official who is being blackmailed out of keeping a secret, a traumatized little girl whose forward progress seems fragile at best, and an anonymous messenger boldly taunting Cassidy with words she never wanted to hear again; "we know who you are".
The author clearly upped her game in this exciting episode of The Lantern Beach Guardians, for die-hard romantic suspense fans will love the mix of frantic pace and tender moments.

The threats continue in this "can't turn the pages fast enough" story as Cassidy discovers another possible murder on the island. Except something doesn't add up, there's no body and no evidence at the scene. Cassidy is desperate to get answers, while protecting her family. Then the FBI shows up with no explanation and takes over the case.
No doubt about it, Mac is my favorite character. He's the mayor of the island and a father figure to Cassidy. He's also loyal, brilliant, and always able to lend a helping hand to Cassidy without having to be asked.
Another great book from Barritt, can't wait to read the conclusion!

What would you do if you had a secret that could endanger the ones you love? Do you run or do you stay and fight? Police Chief Cassidy Chambers has to make that decision when someone threatens to expose her secret to the world. Can she leave Ty and the sweet child they are caring for or can she discover who her enemy is before it is too late? This book (and series) has it all - suspense, danger, love, friendship, and puzzles to solve. Come to Lantern Beach where you can "have it all". Another excellent story by Christy Barritt! Shock and Awe takes place in Lantern Beach, NC. It’s a small town with more than it’s fair share of crime! Small town sheriff, Cassidy works hard to protect her town and the people that live there. This is a fast paced, scary, attention keeping book! I always enjoy how the characters are very real and you can relate to them. It takes a lot of law enforcement know how, strength, hope and faith to bring down the bad guys. Everything is woven together in a well balanced story.

Shock and Awe by Christy Barritt is book 2 in the Lantern Beach Guardians Series. This is my favorite Lantern Beach series yet. Just when you think you know what will happen next in Lantern Beach, everything changes. The stakes are high as Cassidy’s past resurfaces while she tries to solve a new crime and keep a young child safe. I loved this book so much and can’t wait for the next one. When Cassidy finally rounds up the bad guys after a series of strange coincidences orchestrated by those bad guys, Lars tells her he has released information on her true identity to the world. This is not good. Unbeknownst to Lars, however, Mayor Mac has brought along a cell phone scrambler. The notice did not go out, and Cassidy's secret is safe for another month, until the next book comes out. Lantern Beach may be a small barrier island town, but there is never a dull moment.

This book, Shock And Awe, in the Lantern Beach Guardians series is an outstanding book. Cassidy and Ty once again find themselves involved with a situation that could adversely affect the island inhabitants. As they work the case of a missing person and a body found in the water, they are also guarding a little girl, Annabelle, from danger. There are many intertwining happenings throughout the book that encourage the reader to want to keep reading. I highly recommend this book for anyone who loves a lot of adventure and surprises.

In this second installment of Lantern Beach Guardians, Cassidy not only has a new murder to figure out, and a little girl to protect, she also has to decide whether to run and hide from whoever knows her real identity, or stand a fight, come what may. Each of the three books in this series has a stand-alone mystery that is wrapped up within the book, and a continuing story that will be resolved in the third installment, so I recommend reading book #1 before this one. Cassidy was between a rock and a hard place when another murder took place in Lantern Beach. It was designed to keep her away from seeking answers to questions about a previous case and the continuing havoc the peeps were causing. Kept me on my toes, and although I've read the next book in the series, will read it again to refresh my memory. All can be read as standalones though reading them in order brings out details that might be missed otherwise. Great book!

I loved reading this book and can hardly wait to continue this new series. Police Chief Cassidy Chambers has her work cut out for her as more unfolds on Lantern Beach. She’s worked tirelessly to protect the people all the while concealing the truth about her past life. When she starts connecting the dots from the child temporarily in her care, to government conspiracies she gets the eery feelings from long ago when her own life was on the line that killers from across the country will stop at nothing to find her and take her down.

I had an Advance Readers Copy of this book, but this is my voluntary and honest opinion. Another great book in this series by Christy Barritt. It plot involves a murder, threats of secrets being made public, the FBI and local police force, plus a young traumatized girl who can’t talk. The twists and turns certainly keep your interest. I would recommend reading this book and the others in this series.

This was so exciting. Cassidy knows that someone has learned her true identity and worries what this means for her and Ty, added to that is a gruesome murder but where is the body, can she trust the FBI agents and how can she protect the still mute little girl they are keeping safe? So good. Looking forward to the conclusion. Simply love all the Lantern Beach stories.

AWESOME! As usual!
Ty and Cassidy are quite possibly my favorite of all of Christy Barritt’s couples/hero-heroines/sleuths. Their love for each other, for their friends, for the Lord... it’s quite beautiful watching them support each other in their daily lives, their trials, and in their faith. And I enjoy the action, mystery and suspense in each book in each of the different series!
Ty and Cassidy are quite possibly my favorite of all of Christy Barritt’s couples/hero-heroines/sleuths. Great book
This author is a favorite of mine. She has such a diverse writing talent. This second in the new series flows well with the others prior. It is also good on its own. The story was packed with action. It kept you hunting for your own ideas. A good author knows how to pull the readers in as their own amateur detectives. The clues are there all along and come together great in the end. Looking forward to the 3rd one!

Island under assault
Once again my trip to Lantern Beach was cover-to-cover suspense! I love the set up, with Ty involved in helping veterans and with Blackout Security. He's always protective of Cassidy, even though as Chief of Police she can handle a lot. The friends on the island are important to the story and the island atmosphere sets the stage for adventures. Shock and Awe continues the good work of previous books with this setting.

Lantern Beach seems as if it should be such a quiet, serene place, except that it isn’t, and it’s Cassidy’s job as police chief to figure it out while protecting her loved ones and herself! Christy Barrett has, once again, created characters that are as real as the person next door and an island that you hate is fictional! Get ready for a great read!

I really enjoyed this second installment of the Lantern Beach Guardians series. It hooked me right from the first sentence. The intrigue and danger kept building until the exciting conclusion.
I'd definitely recommend reading book one before this one. Although there's a new self-contained mystery here, it does tie back heavily into the mystery from the first book.
I'm very eager to find out how things turn out in the next book, the conclusion to this series. I can't wait!

Top shelf! Shock and Awe is definitely the best of the Lantern Beach series so far. It is packed with drama, action and a plot so complicated that it requires much unraveling through the book. Readers are emotionally invested in the characters old and new. Bring on book three!

Another Twister
Again Christy Barritt has rolled out another cliff hanger suspense story. On top of all the problems Cassidy has with a grisly murder she has to worry that someone threatens to expose who she really is. Ms. Barritt 's characters are so realistic complete with worries and sleepless nights as well as hanging onto the promises of their Savior.

Such a good series! Love the danger and intrigue that's involved in this series. Cassidy and Ty are just such a great couple. This book is not only entertaining but it is dealing with the real struggle that many couples face, infertility.
Lots of action and a lot of "who can you really trust?" moments.
Do recommend reading this series in order to get the full impact.

Hanging
It's a good read, but feeds you just enough to make you believe a wrap will be forthcoming in the next book installment. And, IQ hope it does, but I'm getting off this train for a while - and onto a standalone offering. Any good suggestions in Christian mysteries, thrillers?
