This may be my favorite terrified detective novel yet!

Another delightful cozy from Fowkes. The mystery in this one was Scrumptious and unfolded so cleverly I couldn’t guess who the murderer was until the last. The relationship between Claire and Corrigan was fun. I absolute love Claire’s dialogue when she refers to his new supermodel partner.
And the way Ms Fowkes writes about the Cleveland winter, I almost have to put a coat on even though it’s warm where I live. So vivid.
Kudos To Fowkes. I ho

Pastry and Poison was my first book by Carole Fowkes and I found it to be a good cozy. The book revolves around Claire, a private investigator, and her friends and family. When a poisoned tartlet is sent to a local pastry chef, she is hired to find the killer and it becomes a race against time--and with the police--to solve the crime.

Having not read previous books in the series, I found the characters pretty easy to fall in step with, and the plot was mostly independent of itself. I felt that C

Although Pastry and Poison by Carole Fowkes is book 7 in the Terrified Detective Mystery series, it was my first. I was not lost as the author provided some background and the mystery was individual to this novel.

Private Investigator Claire is a tough cookie who believes in getting on with the job in hand. Her fiancé is a police detective who is not too keen on Claire being involved in police matters. The mystery itself was compelling and well written by Carole Fowkes and I loved th

I love a great cozy mystery and Pastry and Poison by Carole Fowkes is certainly that! This delightful book centers around a town lucky enough to have a few bakeries. Each bakery receives an anonymous pastry delivery and the mystery unfolds. The main character, Claire, is a private investigator who is hard working, perfectly imperfect and very relatable. Her aunt owns one of the bakeries while her rival and friend, who owns another of the bakeries, hires Claire to investigate on her behalf. Aunt ...more

This is the first book I have read from this series, and really makes you want to find and read the previous ones.
Great plot, amazingly crafted characters and fun to read.

Note: I received an arc for review purposes and an honest and unbiased opinion.

Once again Claire and Brian are trying to solve the same murder...oops, make that murders!! Only Brian has the lovely Abby to assist him, backed by the entire police department. And Abby is keen to get Brian back, and doesn't care that Claire sees her flirting. Poor Clair has a paying client, but the local mob is also putting pressure on her to do their bidding and keep the police away from them. Add to that some pre-wedding jitters, an horrific snowstorm, and Brian not being reliable to be arou ...more

A great addition to this fun series. Feels like your back with old friends.

Once again Claire and Brian race to see who can solve the crime first.

There are several twists and turns and new characters introduced.

It you can relate to loud, loving families and a bit of sarcastic humor this is for you. I just recommend starting with book 1.

Received an advanced copy; however, the review is my own opinion.

This was my first read from this author and found it to be a lovely cosy mystery.

Whilst I wasnt hooked on the main storyline of catching the killer, I did enjoy the back story of Claire, her fiance Brian and their family and friends.

It was easy to read and follow and I thought it was a very good cosy mystery and I would read more in the series.

A fun cozy mystery that made me laugh and kept me hooked.
I liked the fleshed out and quirky characters, the well developed plot and the solid mystery that kept me hooked
I can't wait to read another book by this author.
Recommended.
Many thanks to the publisher and Netgalley for this ARC, all opinions are mine

Claire is baccckkkk...

I’ve always loved me some Claire. She thinks she has no guts but is the bravest lady you’ll ever read about! Her love life was sorted I thought but there is trouble in paradise, that’s all I’m going to say. I’d like to see something solidify by book 7 but the rest of the story more than makes up for it.

This is the first book I’ve read by this author but it works as a stand alone. I liked that Claire is a PI but that the book feels like a cozy mystery. But I found the relationships between Claire, Brian, Abby and David distracted from the mystery.

This book is ok. I didn't like the relationship between Claire and David. I felt like the book focused on that more than the actual searching for the killer. #PastryandPoison #NetGalley

Pastry and Poison by Carole Fowkes is the 7th book in A Terrified Detective Mystery Book series, and my first book by the author. Claire is a private detective and when pastry chefs are being poisoned all over town, Claire is hired to find the killer. I really enjoyed this book, and I am looking forward to reading the whole series. I was not happy with the Claire and Corrigan situation, maybe I'll understand better after I read the rest of the books. I highly recommend this book for anyone who e ...more
