Sweet Little Lies

He wasn't what destiny had in store for me.
He was everything wrong in a man I was supposed to fall in love with.

He was dangerous.
His eyes told me so.
The words he tempted me with were simply sweet little lies to lure me in. And now...
I’m trapped in his web of desire and temptation.

She only had herself to blame.
Taunting the beast with the forbidden fruit.
A man can only be tempted for so long, until he takes a bite. Devours his prey.

Now she’s my pretty little toy.
And I will stop at nothing to break her. Unless…
She breaks me first.

Sweet Little Lies is the conclusion of Dirty little secret duet, Hazel and Gabriel’s story. I fell in love with Gabriel In the first book and couldn’t wait for his story.

Hazel is Heath’s daughter and poor girl, her mother is an alcoholic witch, and her father is a workaholic. Needless to say, she has daddy’s issues.

Congrats on the birth of my daddy issues. It’s a boy.

Gabriel is Heath’s best friend. Alpha handsome, Dom, and businessman. Gabriel has set so many rules in his life and hasn’t had any serious relationships. He needs and wants order and control.

Hazel has set her eyes set on Gabriel. As much as he tries to push her away, she keeps drawing him in. As what starts as physical turns into something different, lines are crossed

“Like a moth to a flame, she was this bright light that brought happiness into my life, and I just couldn’t stop

The more I resisted her beautiful glow, the more she got to me.

. So many times, I wanted to smack Gabriel and Hazel to knock some sense into them. There is the whole issue of Hazel’s father. Gabriel is a sadist with some dark tastes, which Gabriel has seen in the past. Both are afraid of what will happen if he finds out. There is a ton of push/pull, steam, and angst, with some suspense. My only criticism is a little more research on the BDSM community. However, it’s a great, fun, and dirty read, and I liked the storyline. I hope in the future we see more of Grayson.

I received an arc in exchange for my honest review

You know those neighborhoods where all the houses are the same but in different colors? Well, that’s what this and Bad Daddy are like. Same structure, different paint. And while Bad Daddy was vibrant, this one is a little more dull.

Oh Hazel, I love her but she’s a bit of a mess. And Gabriel? Fucking perfection. I mean when he put his chilled glass against her sunburned chest ... dead.

“I would break you in two, little bird. I would ruin you, and for every other man, because you would forever feel me inside you.” Ok, now I’m dead.

Gabriel is two sides of a coin. One side is the big, bad Dom and the other is a scared little confused boy. Hazel it seems is the only person to ever bring that side out of him. And she did it effortlessly.

Oh Hazel, I wish I could hug you. When it rains, it pours and you don’t deserve any of it. Why does everyone have to fail her? Deep down I know she deserves better.

Jesus Christ I liked him so much at the beginning but the more you learn the more you realize he’s a bs spouting coward. I know the type, I’m stupid enough to still talk to my selfish ex.

I’m torn ... I appreciate that he’s trying to be a good friend but it just feels like another person not putting Hazel first. She deserves that, everyone does.

Overall it was good, just not as good as it’s predecessor.

Can I please have my own Gabriel... because he was just 𝗛𝗼𝘁. 𝗔𝗙. If you thought the first book in the duet was sexy, well this one was ten times that. I fell for him hard and couldn’t get enough of his domineering and mean ways. He was the perfect alphahole I’ve come to love. No matter how many forbidden romance I read, there’s always one which will leave you speechless again and this duet was it.

➰Hazel was perfect brat and partner for Gabriel. I loved how she stood up to him and made him fall for her. Their story started rocky but was full of angst and passion. They give enemies to lovers a new meaning and couldn’t resist the push and pull.

So if you read Bad Daddy, you know the main characters are Hazel and Gabriel.
And i was waiting for their story 'cause the premises were great.
Well i was right 😏😏

Due to the lack of attentions during her childhood, Hazel has always felt the need to have someone who take care of her and love her unconditionally.
Her attention set on the only man she could never have: Gabriel, her father's best friend.

Gabriel is a powerful rich business man: he is controlling and dominant, and not a man a girl should taunt.
He shouldn't have notice his best friend's daughter, but a man like him can't resist sucha temptation.

What we can't have it's always more appealing, so they find themself attracted to each others in a lustful relationship that gonna change their life..

Just like Bad Daddy, Sweet Little Lies is an easy-to-read steamy story.
But unlike the first one, here there's more angst, and surprisingly i loved it because it kept me on the edge and it forced me to read faster to know what would have happened next ...

Despite some similarities with the first book and some repetitions, i liked this one more.
There were more emotions and more tension with the constant push and pull between the Hazel and Gabriel.
And i loved the BDSM elements, tho they needed more insights, because here they weren't just hinted at as in Bad Daddy.

In the end it's the perfect book for a cold winter afternoon 🔥😏

Sigh. I wanted to fall in love with this. Unfortunately Gabriel as a dom left more to be desired.
It seems he’s always calling the shot and never lets himself be vulnerable with his lover. So not hot.

And I won’t even get into hazel being the biggest hypocrite.

Sweet Little Lies (Dirty Little Lies Duet #2) by J.D. Hollyfield

⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

5 STARS

Sweet Little Lies is the second book in the Dirty Little Lies Duet by author J.D. Hollyfield, it tells the story of Gabriel, Heath's best friend, and Hazel, Heath's daughter, and it is written in dual POV.

The action of this book, takes time actually in the same time as Bad Daddy is, only, the majority of the chapters are told from Gabriel and Hazel perspective.

Hazel has grown in to a beautiful woman, she is now going to college. She knows what she wants, and she wants Gabriel, her father's best friend. She has her sight set on him for a few years now, since she became a teenager. But there is only one problem, Gabriel could be her father, he is twice her age and the most important thing, he is her father’s best friend.
Going off to college, she believes she has grown enough, and that it's the perfect time to persuades Gabriel. It's now or never. She must know if it's only her imagination, or there is realy some chemistry between them. Did Gabriel started to see her with different eyes than before?

Gabriel has some wicked and unique tastes when it comes to women and sex. After all, he is a member and he frequents frequently a special sex club with his best friend, Heath. Sometimes they even performe togheter or join each other in different rooms, with different women. Although he plays with other women, his mind is somewhere else. A very young and beautiful girl, but forbbiden to him. Hazel, his best friend's daughter, has his mind twisted. He is trying to stop it, but he can't. When Hazel makes her move on him, he takes the control he craves on her, his obsession for her, taking the lead.

But at the end of the day, what is more important? His friendship with Heath, or his relationship with Hazel?

OMG... This book was..... I don't have words.
I was extremely happy to see that Hazel and Gabriel will have their own book. I didn't think they will be togheter, I figured and hoped for them to be togheter.
I was hooked from the first page. I read the book in one sitting, 3 hours tops. I didn't stop, didn't put it down. The book had me glued to my phone.
My feelings still are confused regarding Gabriel. I loved him when he was all alfa Dom, the Master, but I hated him for what he did to Hazel, how strong his control was. I hated him through the end, when I think I hated him most, for his stubbornness and his loyalty for Heath. He was a coward. I still can't forgive him.
I loved Hazel, she was so crazy and funny, and how she became so soft in Gabriel's hands, expressing her sexuality and her desires.
I was so happy to see Violet and Heath again.
For me the book was PERFECT.

I HIGHLY RECOMMEND IT.

Hazel and Gabriel are bringing the heat this winter!!!! I loved their story. It was steamy, it was emotional and I couldn’t put it down.

Hazel has been crushing on her dad’s best friend for years and now that she is about to leave for college, she is willing to take the risk and see if he feels the same. They are drawn to each other and there is now denying that these two have insane amounts of chemistry. However, Gabriel has unique interests and they aren’t for everyone.

I LOVE Gabriel. He is a merciless businessman and that extends to other interests of his. Hazel is the opposite. She is sweet and has an innocence to her. They are like fire and ice, but they are so perfect together. Naturally Gabriel is hesitant when it comes to anything with Hazel, because of his close relationship with her father, but he can’t stay away.

I loved the chemistry. I loved the emotion. I loved the drama. I loved everything about Gabriel and Hazel’s story.

If you’re looking for a steamy, age gap, forbidden, dad’s best friend romance this is definitely a MUST READ!

Oohhhhh boy! This book STEAMED up my kindle! I love everything about the second half of this duet! Hazel and Gabriel have explosive chemistry and the secrecy and risk of their forbidden escapades makes it even steamier! I love a good read that has secrecy, lies an a little deception! I really enjoyed the internal turmoil that Hazel went through, battling her independence against her need to be be with Gabriel and please him. As grown up as she may seem her naivety and innocent spirit brought him to his knees so much so that she didn't realize the power she was wielding over him. Gabriel is a calculated and in control man, always getting what he wants in all his endeavors. Hazel is the one thing that started to crumble that concrete stature of his and it was such a cool story to see them develop together. A fun saucy short and fast read that gets the heart pumping! Great conclusion to the duet! I love seeing these 2 friends' lives intertwine!

Oh my goodness, Gabriel and Hazel's story was sweet and full of passion. There was drama and chaos as well as lies and deceit. But most importantly there was love and hope.
I loved this duet.

If you are considering picking up this book. let me start off with saying that you MUST read the first book before this one.

So, this book takes us parallel with the first book. We get to see what is happening on the flip side of what is going on in Dirty Little Secret. However, this one goes past where the first book went, and it gives you a great ending for everyone in this duet.

I do want to point out that this one kind of followed the same recipe as the previous book. For that reason, I found myself a little annoyed. It felt too similar to its counterpart for me. I liked this one, but I think I would have loved it had it stood apart enough.

This book has no shortage of hot scenes and drool worthy scenes. I found I needed a fan for certain parts of this book.

I for sure loved Gabriel. He was all rough, alpha male without being overly alpha. He fit the story perfectly for me. And Hazel, I mostly liked her. She made way too many stupid choices. Which, yes, fit her age. However, she is presented as being more mature for her age, but her actions screamed otherwise.

Overall, this is exactly what I had hoped it would be. If you're looking for an age gap, lust fueled, panty melting book, this is one for you!

As mad as Hazel got at her dad and Violet in Bad Daddy, she herself is not in any different position because she's been lusting after her dad's best friend, Gabriel, forever now. He's dominating, he's ruthless, he's kinky af and she wants him. Now that she's 18, it's time for her to make her move and hope he won't brush her off.

Gabriel values his friendship with Heath above all else, but he's also lusted after Hazel far longer than he should have. He has dark desires just as Heath does, so even aside from her being Heath's daughter, he should stay far, far away from her. But she's far too tempting and they inevitably can't resist. Will they have an HEA like Violet and Heath or were they always going to end in disaster?

Like Bad Daddy, Sweet Little Lies is short and hot. It's a little more angsty, and Gabriel and Hazel's story feels even more intense and is even dirtier than Heath and Violet's story. I admit to wanting to shake both of them at times, because there was so much push and pull, back and forth bs, but I guess considering the circumstances, I could sort of understand. In the end, though, I'm glad they got the happiness they deserved, and the 4 of them were happy.

This is the second book in the Dirty Secret duet, but the focus is on Gabe and and Hazel this time around! There was definitely more angst in this book which I really enjoyed, and this author writes some seriously steamy scenes so I was glued to my kindle from the start!

Hazel didn't have the best childhood -- her mother was an abusive drunk before she left, and her dad Heath (the hero in the first book) was very absent from her life. He was trying so hard to give her a good life, but he missed so many important moments of her childhood. While they are really close now, and her best friend friend/college roomie is in love with her dad, and can't help but feel a deeper pull than ever to the one man who should always be off limits to her -- her dad's best friend.

Gabe, while i did like him most of the times, there was something that rubbed me the wrong way about him. He acted like more of a child than Hazel did (and she's the teenager in the relationship.) It wasn't his sexual tastes, that didn't bother me, but more how he introduced those to Hazel. I at least felt like there should have been a discussion of a safe word, especially since Gabe likes more pain than pleasure. Other than that though, I definitely enjoyed their romance! The push and pull was excellent, as was the little bit of suspense! I did feel like Heath was a huuuuggge hypocrite seeing as how he did the same thing in the first book, but having daughters of my own, I can't imagine being put in that situation.😬😬

Another thing that did bother me was that the conflict was basically the same as the first book. I'm talking word for word here, which made it all seem anticlimactic to me. If I hadn't read the first book already I would have loved it, but seeing as how I did, I just wish things happened differently here.
Overall this is an incredibly steamy and emotional read! If will definitely keep you warm on these cold winter nights! 😉

Sweet Littles Lies by J.D.Hollyfield was temptations and sins. It was taboo. It was forbidden. It was ridiculously hot and filthy. But what made it an amazing story is the emotional depth and angst filled drama!

Hazel is in love and lust with her father's best friend, Gabriel Walker. He is her fantasy and her craving. But Gabriel is strongly against their attraction because his friendship is most important. Even after he gives in to their chemistry, he doesn't want to accept his and Hazel's feelings. Is it their future? Or can Hazel fight for themselves?

Like the first book( about Hazel's father Heath and her roommate Violet), this is super hot. Like dangerously dirty. Gabriel is not only older, uber rich, super confident and absolutely gorgeous..he is a Dominant. And Hazel is his perfect pet. What I loved is this story equally concentrated on their emotional connection. Gabriel lives a controlled and cold life. And sweet, sassy and beautiful Hazel breathes life in his dark existence. Gabriel fills her deep seated need to be cherished and adored. Roughly and gently. But it looks impossible and Hazel's dad couldn't accept it initially. They tried to stay away and the angst was really on point. It had an interesting and fast paced story line that kept my heart engaged.

J.D. Hollyfield balanced steam and feels so well in Sweet Little Lies. Delicious alpha hero and sassy heroines in a forbidden love story is always irresistible.

Whilst this is book 2 of The Dirty Little Secrets duet, it can be read as a complete standalone.

Sweet Little Lies is Hazel and Gabriel's story. Gabe is Hazels' dad, Heaths', best friend. So, definitely forbidden. And oh, so HOT!

The chemistry and the steam between these two was pure fire! 🔥 Not to mention, unlike in book 1, we got quite a bit more angst. The push and pull was there and it'll have you squirming and frustrated. Hazel has daddy issues, obviously and when you get to know her more in this book, you totally understand why.

Gabe has his own demons to battle and conquer. And his best friend, Hazels' dad, will kill him if he ever so much as touches her. But he's drawn to her like, in his own words "a moth to a flame. But will these two crash and burn or survive the fire?

With touches of BDSM, Sweet Little Lies is a quick, easy read done in Hollyfields' clear writing style.

‘I'm playing with fire–and Gabriel isn't a man to mess with, let alone tease.’

I really enjoyed this book, the same amount as I enjoyed Bad Daddy before it.
It was filled with steamy scenes and – phwoar, did Gabriel deliver.
Ever since the ending of book one, I wanted to get my hands on this story.

The trope is Father's Best Friend, and I was totally here for it! If you like this kind of a forbidden trope then I totally suggest picking up this duet.
Multiple POV too totally gives this book that edge, especially when the two of them are trying to come to terms with how to proceed with their feelings and relationship.

I would have loved this book to have been slightly longer, but all in all, I did enjoy the ride it took us on.
J.D. Hollyfield has a great style of writing, and she’s yet to write a character I don’t enjoy.

I really enjoyed Hazel and Gabriels story and had my interest peaked from the first book. Gabriel is Heaths best friend who is Hazels dad and she’s always had a thing for him but now is at the point where she wants to explore it. Hazel and Gabriels story is very steamy but given that Heath knows about his best friends particular tastes that’s the last thing he wants for his daughter. I adored Hazel and liked Gabriel’s over the top controlling behavior

I loved the first book in this duet but this one didn’t hit quite the same for me. I usually love all the angst and tension but this one felt really redundant with the “I want you but I can’t have you” conversations.

Aside from that, Gabriel was more than a morally gray MMC. he admitted that he waited for Hazel to turn legal before he let his wandering eye take her in & at one point, even acknowledges that he used to tuck her into bed when she was younger. 🤢🤮

My heart hurt for Hazel, all the back and forth. Took Gabriel a long time to pull his head out of his own butt and own his feelings.

Whew, this is another angsty read following Hazel and Gabriel's story. Hazel is Heath's daughter from Bad Daddy and Gabe's is his best friend. So you know how messy that's going to go.

Gabe has always been observing Hazel grow up into the woman she is. But also he knows how his best friend is going to react if he knows what Gabe thinks of his daughter. On the other hand, Hazel always tries to get Gabe's reaction. She knows that it's not just her who is drawn to him because their chemistry is off the charts. So she just kept on pushing him to give in. There is a lot of things to figure out for these two. Even so, my heart broke for Hazel when Gabe's tried to deny their feelings.

Overall this is a great duet! And a must read

After reading the epilogue in Bad Daddy, I couldn’t wait to get my hands on Sweet Little Lies and see how Hazel and Gabe got to where they were in the epilogue, but also to see just how they’d end up getting their HEA, and I gotta say it was quite the ride ~ not in a bad way, but boy did things get a bit cray cray in this baby.

But as for Hazel and Gabe. I already liked Hazel going in ~ sweet, sassy and simply a good person. And while she is your typical 18 year old transitioning from teenager to a new adult, she’s not as blind to the real world as some of her peers may be because of how she grew up. Gabe, well, I’m a bit waffly about him. He’s all kinds of AF dom male ~ OMG total AF dom male ~ and he does have a good heart, but there were moments where I was ‘yelling’ at him to grow the F.U. and be the adult that he is.

Their journey was all kinds of cray cray and more angsty due to how Hazel knows Gabe, but they did have a connection and I despite the obvious power imbalance between the two, I liked how Hazel stood up for herself, and did like how things worked out for them in the end.

This book is all kinds of BDSM, kink, taboo goodness and there are a few triggers in here ~ especially towards the end, so reader beware.

Also, if you haven’t read Bad Daddy, you probably should since there are events that happen in that book that play out in this one and I do think that it will spoil that one for you.

This is the second book in the duet and features Hazel and Gabriel who we met in Bad Daddy. After getting to know Gabriel I just knew he was going to be alpha to the max and would have a secret or two. Finding out he was in the BDSM lifestyle was no surprise it fit his personality perfectly. Gabriel has watched Hazel he's drawn to her but she's his best friends daughter ... well noone told Hazel who decides to act on her attraction. The book is undeniably hot the chemistry is palpable and the sex scenes are intense. I liked watching the two of them flirt around the attraction. I did find it a little strange that he didn't introduce her to the lifestyle slowly as is usually the norm when someone is a complete novice. I found there were a few similarities to book one, some of the dialogue is nearly word for word and the bad guy situation was exactly the same. On reflection I enjoyed the steam factor but elements of the storyline let it down.

This is book 2 in the Dirty Little Lies Duet. While Daddy Heath is pursuing her roommate Hazel is pursing dad’s best friend Gabriel.
There was not much storyline or plot to this book. It was a quick and fast read. I was super frustrated with Gabriel, the push and pull between him and Hazel was at times too much. Like seriously dude grow a pair and go for it. Gabriel is very much overly alpha and gruff. He is not used to be pursued and is taken a back when Hazel comes at him full force.
Hazel had major impulse control and was a hard character to like. She also was at time too stupid to live. I really struggled with her. But this is a well written story. It just fell flat after reading book one in the duet.

Sweet Little Lies by J.D. Hollyfield is an erotic forbidden romance. This is the final book in the Dirty Little Lies Duet Series.

This is the second book of Jessica's that I have read and it definitely won't be my last. I couldn't wait to get Gabriel and Hazel's story after reading Bad Daddy. The chemistry between Hazel and Gabriel was off the charts. I loved that we got both of their points of views throughout the book. It really brought the story to life.

I would highly recommend this book if you love forbidden romances, erotic romances or contemporary romance.

J. D. Hollyfield is really killing daddy Kink! I thought Heath was a dirty talker but he doesn't have anything on Gabriel. Holy hotness. Where were these older men when I was in college? When I realized who this book was about I could not wait. Hazel being Heath's daughter and Gabriel being his best friend I knew the blowout of this would be huge. And I could not wait to see it. I knew Heath would not react well even if he did something similar.

Gabriel is hot, dirty talking and daddy's best friend. He's everything that makes you want to flock to him and run from him at the same time. He's got a certain taste and he doesn't waiver from the. One of them being his love for younger women. However, he doesn't keep them long. He uses them and then leaves them. This is the biggest issue Heath has with Gabriel and Hazel being together.

Let's talk about how hot this book is! Hollyfield left me feeling like I needed a cold shower. She nailed the hot, dirty talk.

Sweet Littles Lies wa the perfect follow up to Bad Daddy. This duet was hot, steamy and full of forbidden romance. It's a quick, steamy read that hooked me from start to finish. This steamy, forbidden romance is a must read.

Sweet Little Lies and the Dirty Little Secret Duet is a must read for anyone who loves steamy, sexy, and daddy kink. Even if you don't know you like it, you do.

I adored Hazel and Gabriel’s story! There is something about watching an alpha male turn mushy for his h that I absolutely love. This offered that and then some. Hazel and Gabe don’t have a conventional D/s relationship if that’s what you’re expecting either. Hazel doesn’t exactly fall in line, and Gabe finds himself wanting more than he’s wanted out of his previous experiences as well. Then there’s the whole other issue of her father. Can they really risk it all to make this thing real?

This one was more intense and had everything I was looking for in the first one to be honest. There was still some things that could have been added and deepen but I loved it.

I really wanted to love this book, but unfortunately just didn’t. I felt like it was almost an exact copy of book 1 in the duet, just with different characters.

Gabriel was awful and I needed more of a grovel.
