Welcome to the Kingdom of Wolves.
Careful. These Alphas bite.

Alaric
I hate vampires. I hate hybrids more.

Particularly, the one I'm hunting now. The bastard took something that belongs to me. My mate. I haven't met her yet, but I can smell her--that sweet, delectable heat that calls to my inner beast.

Mmm, I can't wait for a taste.
However, I need to save her first.
Then I can claim her.

Does she sense me coming for her? Are her thighs quaking with the need to be possessed by my hands? I hope she kneels for me. I hope she begs me to complete our bond.

Only, when I find her, she doesn't do any of those things.
Instead, she tries to kill me.

Now it's not the hybrid I'm hunting; it's her--the stubborn female with no interest in our destined bond. Oh, but she'll bow for me eventually. They always do. And when I win her over, I'm going to make her crawl.

You can run, sweetheart, but you can't hide. I'll always find what's mine.

Makayla
One minute, I'm minding my own business, and the next, I end up in a realm that isn't my own. I thought maybe it was the fruity concoction of a drink the bartender had given me, but no, this is real. Too real.

What's worse? Some asshole hybrid has taken me as his new pet. He likes that I'm a shifter who won't break. Well, as soon as I figure a way out of this cage, I'm going to give him a whole new lesson in destruction.

Except some alpha wolf beat me to the punch. Literally. Now he claims I'm his fated mate. Ha. Over my dead body. Or, more accurately, his dead body, since I threw a dagger at his chest instead and got the hell out of Dodge.

Now he's hunting me and making me feel things I don't want to feel. So I'll keep running until I can find my way home because no way am I going to give in to his fate.

Catch me if you can, Alpha. But I'll never bow. Not even to my supposed mate.

Authors' Note: Crossed Fates is a standalone shifter romance with dark undertones. Alaric is all possessive alpha wolf, and Makayla is all fiery stubborn female. Together, they're explosive and passionate. There will be heat. There will be death. There will be biting. Enjoy.

My Review

This book is set in a shared world it’s a collaborated series by various authors and they loosely tie into each other, this is book four but can be read as a stand-alone.
It’s a fated mate paranormal shifters story with fantastic world-building and an enthralling storyline.

Makayla is a born shifter from an alternate realm here investigating human trafficking of females.
She’s an alpha female who’s a bit of a lone-wolf.
Alaric is a bitten wolf also an Alpha but since leaving his pack to make way for his brother he’s worked for E.V.I.E a supernatural organisation that deals with the vampire of this realm.

When their missions collide the two are thrown into close proximity having to work together to take out all outside threats.
Someone’s killing alphas and it’s only by teamwork that the danger the packs are now facing can be eradicated.

Neither wants a mate both used to being alone but both are instantly drawn to each other, Their chemistry together undeniable.
These two fogged up the pages with their intense heat their future bond inevitable.

This isn’t a dark story and the romance isn’t an angsty one the conflict in this story is all caused by outside forces rather than Mac and Alaric themselves.

This is told in dual POV is very well written and an easy page-turner that I enjoyed immensely.
It’s a collaboration between two authors and it was seamless there writing styles obviously complement each other.
I’m definitely looking forward to reading other stories set in this world.
I voluntary reviewed a copy of Crossed Fates (Kingdom of Wolves #4).

3.5 - 4 stars!

This is the fourth book in the Kingdom of Wolves series but can be read as a complete standalone. If you have read Violet Slays, then you would have met the hero Alaric. This book features Alaric and Makayla.

So first, I really enjoyed this but the blurb (to me) is not representative of the story. Makayla is a wolf shifter from a different realm and works as a freelancer tracking down those who hurt others. Her specialty is saving those who are trafficked. On her current mission, she finds herself trapped in a cage and is trying to get information. Before she can get what she needs, Alaric comes onto the scene and immediately recognizes her as his mate.

description

Alaric claims he doesn't want a mate but has no qualms with claiming Makayla to satisfy his sexual urges. However, Makayla isn't having any of that and proceeds to stab him and run. Before she runs though, Alaric gets a call from his family that his brother, the alpha of Silver Lake, has been poisoned by silver and he must come quickly. Alaric left his family many years ago to be a loner wolf because he didn't want to challenge his brother for the alpha position. Returning home is bittersweet and Alaric struggles to come to terms with where his life is going. When Makayla realizes the connection between the case she is currently trying to solve and the silver she offers to help Alaric...offering an olive branch for stabbing him.

description

Neither Alaric or Makayla are too keen on developing their fated mate bond but the more time they spend together trying to solve who poisoned his brother, the more their attraction and bond grow. Can Alaric and Makayla solve the case? Will their fated mate bond be complete? Can they really bond even though they are from different realms? What does their future hold since neither want to give up their loner life?

description

This was a little less steamy/kinky than I am used to seeing from Foss and it dragged a bit in some parts which is reflected in the rating. The world building is great as expected from Foss and there are some characters in here that I wouldn't mind reading their story. I loved Makayla and Alaric...they were such a power couple. Overall, a solid shifter read.

Fab read by these two authors!

I was really excited to start reading this book. I loved Violet Slays so I knew I was going to like the rest of the stories in this universe.

The beginning of the story was a little slow for me, and I’ll admit that it took me a couple chapters to get into it. However once the story started building I was really sucked in.

It was great to read Alaric’s story because he intrigued me so much in Violet Slays and I knew his story was going to be a fab read and it really was. His reluctance to engage with Makayla at the beginning really frustrated me, - even though he deserved it - but the sexual tension was building slowly and I can see where the authors were going with this.

I loved how interconnected all the secondary characters were and I cannot wait for their stories to come to fruition.

Highly recommend this read!

After meeting Alaric previously in Lexi's Violet Slays, I was intrigued and excited for this collaboration with new to me author Elle Christensen. I absolutely love wolf shifters.... the pack loyalty and alpha dominance gets my blood pumping in all the good ways.

Alaric was all alpha but didn't want to accept it. He'd made choices in the past he thought were right but ended up a bit of a lone wolf, missing a vital part of himself. Makayla was also a lone alpha wolf, her chosen path to help those unable to protect themselves had taken her very far from home. She was on a mission to find missing girls when fate puts her in Alarics path. Fated mate? Nooooo way......

I loved their feisty banter and their push pull relationship as they fought their growing attraction. Neither wanted a mate, their desire for independence too strong, but both quickly realise they need and want to support each other. They were strong characters, neither wanting to give an inch, but even they succumbed to the distraction of each other at times as they both argued with their inner wolf. With missing and dead wolves piling up, Alaric and Makayla needed to work together, to find the killers, because everyone knows a mate bond can't be ignored forever, especially when being together is stronger than being apart.

I really enjoyed this book, there was murder, suspense, secrets, humour, heartbreak, great banter and of course dominant alpha hotness and sizzling chemistry. Also, I'm not sure if I'm getting old, but I really liked Alaric's sexy alpha dad, Hawk too lol!

This author pairing worked very well together and I'm looking forward to more of this world and the vampires that are coming. I really hope we get more of E.V.I.E's mysterious boss Jude, I think I could definitely get the hots for him too, if I haven't already 😉

Out of this world❣️

Crossed Fates is the first book co-written by Lexi and Elle and it’ out of this world fabulous🤩

Makayla and Alaric find each other in a dungeon of a bar. Alaric is there to avenge a bloodbath and Makayla is looking for someone who has gone missing😢 However, Makayla has some secrets about her origins and Alaric is certain that they are fated mates....now to convince the stubborn female🤔However, whilst this is happening it appears someone is taking out the leaders of the Bitten Packs, including Alaric’s brother😭

So much great action in this book, along with some super interesting theories and characters that I was enthralled from the word go😍 Looking forward to the next book and also going back and reading about Violet is next on my list of to reads😁 I received an advanced copy and willingly leave my honest review❤️

Definitely an it's not you, it's me.

Crossed Fates is a fairly tame thriller with a supernatural bent and I simply do not care for thrillers. I read it for the heroine's sass and at every point when I thought about DNFing, she'd show her backbone and I'd keep reading.

Alas, that isn't really enough to carry a story. Please take this review as it's meant - this is not a bad book, it simply didn't hold my interest.

Also - ever since I learned that wolves in the wild don't form these kind of alpha/beta/etc relationships, it has played on my mind while reading such stories. It's probably a bit ridiculous that I can accept magic but not alphas but there you have it. Probably a bit of a rebellious streak showing - I'm not submitting to anyone!

Barring a couple of minor issues, the grammar and syntax are fine.

If I have to read the sentence "I am going to let you keep working" one more time, I am going to voluntarily throw myself off a cliff. If I had to guess, this sentence came up about 20 times and was always accompanied by this magnanimous air, as if this "gesture" should be rewarded with a cookie or something. It's the 21st century. You're not letting anyone do anything and it is also not rewardable behavior to do the bare minimum by acknowledging that a woman is free to make her own life choices about how she spends her time. Thank you, next.
The way the men (e.g. male leads dad and lead himself) were portrayed in this was annoying and uncomfortable at times. Would say that it bordered on toxic and I do not think that it is due to the genre because I've read enough stuff in this realm that does not include this kind of behavior. Just skipped through the last half of the book because the plot was alright, I guess.

3.5 stars. This is my first book from this series of interconnected worlds by different authors. I enjoy Foss’s writing. This book wasn’t as hot as some of her newer ones. There was no knotting and both of the MC’s were alphas so there was a very different dynamic. I don’t hate it though! Parts of this book really dragged for me and I almost DNF’ed around 70%. I’d like to read Sapphire’s story.

This book seemed a little disjointed but I didn’t know why until I went to write the review and saw it have more than one author.
The storyline was different, but was never clear about what kind of wolf Malala was except immortal. Getting acquainted with her fated mate a “ bitten” wolf was kind of glossed over. In fact the entire wolf plot was never really developed. They shifted once together. That was odd. They shifted during fight scenes but only once together and never as a pack, never as the alpha? Hmm?

I once again loved this world that Lexi has built. So many things going on that my interest was captured and held. There are so many possibilities with the different universes.

Alaric and Makayla are both strong alpha wolves and the chemistry between them is smoking hot 🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥.

Enter the realm of my crazy mind and read this review at your own risk. Nah, I'm just kidding. I am hopped up on Easter eggs and riding a pretty sweet sugar high and I am bringing this here review on Crossed Mates by Lexi C Foss and Elle Christensen.

We were introduced to Alaric back in Violet Slays and this book picks up right after the events in that one - like the following day right after. While searching for the bad guy from Violet Slays, Alaric comes across his mate, Makayla appearing to be locked in a cage. But appearances can be deceiving...Makayla breaks free and stabs Alaric (now who doesn't like a stabby heroine? From Blood and Ash anyone??). I won't go into much more of the storyline because I like to give you something actually worthwhile to read other than this review but can I say, after one chapter with Makayla, she might be my new favourite of Lexi's female characters taking over Eve from Lexi's Dark Provenance series (which if you haven't read you should totally do that).

There's plenty of action and a mystery to be solved as well as 'action' if you know what I mean. One thing that I really liked about this was there was no insta-love. Alaric and Makayla weren't together a long time with everything going on in the story but they still had a real connection. A connection that they both knew would develop into love which is so much more believable than announcing their undying love after having only know each other for a short time. Yeah I see the stupidity of this - shifter/vampires/magic totally believable but undying love in a few days totally unrealistic!

Now because I like to be honest in these reviews, I will say that I felt the ending dragged on a little. We had the climatic action scene where the bad guy is defeated and I still had 10% of the book left to go. I completely understand the logic behind this because it was setting up a heap of stuff for future books and I don't know if I struggled through this part because my husband was watching Invincible on Amazon Prime at the same time as I was reading and I kept getting distracted.

Anyway, this book is still very much worth the read. I received an ARC and because a Lindt bunny is eyeballing me at the moment, I have left an honest review. Hey Lindt bunny...GET INSIDE ME!!!

4.7 Stars! Alaric and Makayla are fated mates, but neither of them is interested in having a mate. But they end up thrown together to work on a case after he “rescues” her, and then she ends up having to help drive him home to Silver Lake after his brother, the pack Alpha, is poisoned - which appears to somehow to be related to her case, as well. The back and forth banter between these two is great, both admitting an attraction, but being like “heck no” to a mate, happier with their lone wolf status. But as the shit hits the fan, and as they get to know each other, sometimes you might be surprised to discover that you get what you need even when you don’t realize or want it. Outside of the action packed sequences relating to the case they’re working, we get plenty of action between Alaric and Makayla, too - and I’m not just talking of the steamy variety. They are both alpha wolves, and it definitely comes out in their interactions. While we do get steam, we also get some pretty heated, brutal battles between them, and they are just as good as the steam. The story is fast paced, and the relationships strike a chord - between mates, between family, between pack members, they all resonate strongly. And there is plenty here that will propel the story forward to other books...Savannah and her possible mate? Sapphire, and her sneaky predictions (and maybe a mate for her too). And Jude! I want to know so much more about Jude! There is such an interesting world built here, and with the dual realms, there is a huge opportunity for lots of plot interplay, which will be fun to read - Can’t wait!

Fated mates

I really love this author, and I typically love her books. But this one was kinda a miss for me. We started out with are heroine being strong and freaking hilarious. I love a strong female wolf, yet when her equally alpha mate counterpart entered, we seemed to have gotten a hot and bothered H who wasn't so strong? She was over powered easily, and seemed to freeze up, act like prey, and have inner arguments with her wolf. It became hard to believe she was some tough alpha female from another universe who was stronger then these wolf's from this realm she happened to be residing in. I lost interest fast and skimmed through a few pages, about half way through I just decided this wasn't a book I wanted to continue to read.

Book number 4 in the Kingdom of Wolves series. The first two were awful, the third was enjoyable and introduced me to a new author, Katie May, whom I liked, but since there were other authors in this series that I knew and loved (Ivy Asher and Raven Kennedy), I read book 6 before this one. Otherwise, the rest were just like awful teenage fantasy ramblings. I DNF one and won’t touch any of the other books by that author. However, this book started out very promising and in fact reminded me a bit of Kresley Cole, a favorite. I am new fan of Lexi Foss and Elle Christensen. However, at about page 87, I realized that the character, Alaric, had been introduced in a previous book by Lexi Foss, and that Alaric kept referring to a situation he’d been in with his partner who’d vanished with her vampire boyfriend. So, I stopped reading this book, got “Violet Slays” and read that first to get a feel for Alaric before continuing this story…

Once I read “Violet Slays” it helped to understand a bit more about the character Alaric and the world in which he lived, but as I read, I still had a lot of questions such as how Sapphire was related to both Makayla and Cassias from the previous book. Also, more characters were introduced that I wanted to know more about; Marc and Nathan. As I continued to read and learn who all the characters were to Makayla and Alaric, it was also fun to watch their pull toward each other and also watch them work together to solve the mystery of the silver poisoning of so many alphas and the disappearance of human, shifter, and vamp girls. I liked reading both of their POVs, especially when they continued to deny their fate with each other and as alphas of a pack.

One of the characters who seemed to pop up in unexpected places in both books is Sapphire. The crazy witch seer reminds me of Kresley Cole’s Nix character who makes an appearance in nearly every single one of her 21 book series of Immortals After Dark. I'd seen where Lexi wrote a book called "Sapphire Slays" but when I look for it on KU, it's not there. If anyone knows anything about that book, please comment. I want to read it!

The sexual tension between Makayla and Alaric was palpable, even after they finally consummated their attraction, it continued to smolder. I reveled in it. Those scenes are why I seek out this genre, but the mystery to solve held my interest so much that I found myself guessing who is behind all the murders and missing girls even when I wasn’t reading. All my guesses were wrong, but it was still fun to muse. And the reveal was a twist that had me reeling and fuming. I wish they could bring the evil guys back to life in order to make them suffer more before they are killed again.

One of the very few times I didn’t like the MMC

For the most part, when I have an issue with character development in a book, it’s with the female lead. Not so with this book. I found the MMC, Alaric, near insufferable. Now, I love me a hot alpha male, but “Ric” didn’t have hot alpha vibes. He was just a crass, arrogant ass. Just about the only thing I liked about him was the fact that he acknowledged the bond with our heroine, Makayla, immediately. He recognized it, but didn’t want it. But he sure wanted to get her between the sheets. I’m thinking, if that’s your goal, maybe a little finesse is in order. But telling her that you’ll have her begging for your cock probably won’t get you too far. Alas, it does have a happy ending, so maybe that tact works on some women.

World building was ok, especially if you read Violet Slays which is a standalone book that comes before this one. We were introduced to Alaric in that book, and some of the plot from that book is also mentioned in this book. While set in the same “universe” of characters it is not in a set with this book. Confused? Yeah, I was too. Because this book is actually part of the Kingdom of Wolves series. 9 books in that series and each written by a different author. Why this book was part of that series and not Violet Slays, I have no idea. But I digress.

There was mention of things from Makayla’s pack and references to her “kind.” Apparently, in this universe, not all wolves are the same. I feel like we were missing some information here. Makayla mention a few “stages” of mating that was common for her kind, but the author never laid out what the stages were and how a couple progressed through these stages. It felt a little incomplete to me.

The plot here was interesting and the execution, with the exception of the MMC and some holes in the world building, was good. Even though he wasn’t my favorite hero, I think I’d still recommend this book. But I would recommend that you read Violet Slays first.

Jesus H. Christ that was good!

My love for Lexi C. Foss grows with every book of hers that I devour! Another amazing world! What I adored about this book was that even though Alaric and Makayla were “fated mates” this wasn’t a case of Insta-love. In fact A and M both recognized that although they have a soul deep connection they didn’t know each other well enough to be in love. This was the first “fated mates” book that I have read that had this, and I thought it was really unique and special. It didn’t detract from A & M’s relationship and connection, and in my opinion, it made it even more amazing. The chemistry between A & M was off the charts, but this book wasn’t just about the love story between them.

The overall plot was so well developed and engaging I found myself unable to put this book down. I loved all of the characters in this book, but I was left with some questions (like what was Alaric’s dad hiding) and I hope they are answered in some of the other books/spin offs. The only thing that makes me sad is that Nathan, and Asher/Savanna’s books are going to be written by another author, and I don’t know how to feel about that.

I have mixed feelings about this book. It started out fantastic..we met a strong, funny and capable female character who was confident in her abilities and could quite easily look after herself. However when the male character was introduced, she seemed to become weaker and indecisive...the whole 'rejected mate' thing wasn't that dramatic either..they were more insecure in themselves and their capability of having a mate. It didn't really feel as though it was a rejected mate read to me.

Also the book description said that this book is a standalone, but it clearly has characters linked to other books and prior happenings/events that impacted this book. I felt a little like I should have read those stories, as well as the ones that follow side-characters from this book.

The book had a strong beginning and end, the middle of the book was a little wobbly to me. Still quite entertaining plot and action that had me looking in the wrong direction of my projected journey.

It’s been awhile since I’ve read Lexi C. Foss and when I was browsing Amazon, something made me think of her, so I started looking for something of hers to read. I’m more partial to her shifter books and I knew I would have the best success going that route and as I’ve been less motivated to read than usual, it seemed foolproof. I saw Crossed Fates and with me loving the synopsis and having wanted to read Elle Christensen for awhile, it was a no-brainer for me to pick it up. It took me longer than I would have like to finish this book, but when I was both away and reading it, I loved it! It was exciting, steamy, and full of action, mystery, and fun. Crossed Fates had me flipping the pages (when I got the chance to read) and I just loved the characters and this world so much — I will definitely be reading the other books in this series and the ones connected to it!

A great stand alone book from the Kingdom Of Wolves series.

This book is slightly different from the previous books in the KoW series, it has shifters from another world and has wolves and vampires experimenting on humans, wolves and vampires alike.

The blurb, I thought, didn’t actually connect with story. It made it seem like this was the first time that Makayla had come to this realm but it obviously wasn’t.

Good storyline and written very well although there are unanswered questions like how does Alaric’s dad know how to block out the telepathic mind link. I know there are some other books based on Silver Lake so it may come up in there? I don’t know if I care about the characters in those books to read them though?

Not quite a 5* book for me, I just felt like something was missing and then there were a few loose ends.

A great read and looking forward to the next book in the KoW series

I loved when my favourite authors get together and write stories in a shared universe. You get exciting new characters and stories and then a dash of references here and there to the characters from the other books mixed in.

This story was no different! I wish I’d read Violet Slays first so I had more of an introduction to Alaric but I loved him, Makayla and their chemistry. I loved watching Alaric come into his own and really step up to the role of Alpha. There were several proud moments at the end.

I actually struggled to figure out who the bad guy was in this story and it did shock me when all the players were revealed. I can’t wait to read more about the different characters of this realm and the other.

The smut was also 10/10 and who doesn’t love a bit of tension thrown in! It was an easy read but one I could see myself going back to for a bit of fun.

She's a lone wolf on a mission to find the ringleader and rid the world of his evil.

She's so close but then he crashes her party and everything goes to pot.

As if that wasnt enough, fate intervenes and declares to her wolf that he's the one!

She never wanted that and certainly didn't sign up for it!

What a great read! I'm loving the kingdom of wolves multi author books!

This book has lots of fire and passion, internal fights and external expectations along with a common goal shared by both the main characters.

They are both lone wolves so to be almost forced into each others company doesn't come easy to either of them. Add in exceptionally heartbreaking circumstances and you have a read thats near impossible to put down!

A fantastic addition to an already amazing world!

Enjoyable

I enjoyed this story, but it felt like it was missing something. I felt like how everything was tied together in the end wasn’t as explosive as I thought it would be. I really liked how the characters dif POV’s opened up their characters. The passionate build up between them. Their inner dialog caused me to chuckle a few times. I got lost in this story and when I had to put it down to do some kind of chore I was thinking about the book. And what was next. It invaded my mind. Besides that I felt this was missing something in the end I still really enjoyed the story. I’m glad there was a bit of information dump at the end of the book, it was perfectly placed to entice a reader to want to read the next one.

Lexi C. diss is quickly becoming a favourite author. What I like most is her stories are varied and not just the same plot with a different couple. Plus, the “issues” between the couples are not frivolous misunderstandings that get blown way out of maturity proportions (mind you every once in a while, that coupled with an uber broody alpha will make me happy!). This was another good book. Our heroine Mak is smart, capable and has just enough of vulnerable to submit to our fantastic alpha Alaric. Alaric is mature, mildly torn up tasty treat! All in all, a good read that is making me look to download more of Ms. Foss’ books - good thing she has a ton!

Wow! This is the first book I have read by theses authors. I was drawn in by the blurb and couldn’t put it down. They are both such fierce characters and I loved that they both kind of fought their connection. The story is fast paced, and there are some references to characters that I assume show up in other books, but I feel like the showed up or were mentioned organically. This is a stand-alone, but the characters Amy have minor roles to play in subsequent books. I will definitely be checking out more books by these authors :)

Closer to 3.5 than 4 for me but I’m feeling generous today and rounded up. I’ve read a couple of the other books in the shared world so understand the bitten vs Lucan vs totemic wolves. This one focused more on the bitten wolves and introduced the concepts of other realms. Yes, Alaric and Makayla are fated mates and they both go through their inner soul searching about their fate. It’s a good mix of sticking with the present vs looking out toward an new future.

I do freely admit that the blurb really grabbed me. I mean who wouldn’t want to read a book where the fated mate stabs the other one. Good chemistry between Alaric and Makayla with both showing their strength without becoming too one dimensional.

This is the 4th book in the Kingdom of Wolves series but can be read as a standalone. I personally chose to only read a few of these to avoid RH. Cursed fates was a great and quick read with a strong alpha female Heroine and a swoon worthy Hero who make an amazing team. They were already such great characters by themselves and their relationship and ability to be in a relationship progressed steadily throughout the book. The book switches view points between the two main characters unlike some of the others in the series. Everything is in a logical order with a happy ending.

Crossed Fates by @lexicfoss & @authorellec
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
🌶🌶🌶
- fighting attraction
- shifters
- mates
- being who you're meant to be

2 lone wolves who enjoy their lone wolf life, find out that not only are they mates, from different worlds, but they also need to work together to make things right.

I loved their chemistry and banter throughout.

I just felt like i still had a lot of questions at the end of the book and not all the books listed at the end could be found to read and answer those questions.

Overall it was still good and I still recommend.

⭐️ ⭐️ ⭐️/5 - conflicted review

Pro’s: one of the best explanations into the mate bond and alpha clicking into place. Mak’s character was terrific.

Con’s: I didn’t like Alaric’s character. The way he spoke to Mak at the start… “watch it, bitch”… just tainted his character throughout the book in my mind (ick). Then again when he nearly choked her out (not hot) So much that later on when he is telling Mak to submit did not hit the mark for me (double ick).

Took me weeks to finish purely because I put it down every time I went into Alaric’s POV.

I love this world! I was so excited to see these characters and loved their story from start to finish. It is sassy, steamy, and action-packed and I loved every minute. Alaric is broody and a lone wolf happy with his career with EVIE. Makayla falls into his life as a wolf from another realm working a trafficking ring in all her sassy, independent glory. Forced to work together after realizing they are mates and working the same case, they must ignore the heat between them so they can go back to their lone wolf status. But the longer they work the case, the more convoluted the answers and the harder it is to stay away. There are biting, sexy times, and a lot of sass, and it is all totally worth it. I can't wait for more books from this universe.
