Calling a series 'Funny Kid' before the reviews are in is a gamble, however this entry in the series is indeed funny. At least my nine year old boy seems to think so. Max has some bad history with his teacher Mr Armstrong (read some of the earlier novels) and ends up being drafted into an ice hockey team. The new coach? You guessed it! Mr Armstrong. Aaaargh! That and the fact that Max and his team mates don't have the first clue about ice hockey, or even skating for that matter, makes for a pret ...more

These have their moments, and I do get students get students who really like hockey. Notebooks novels are popular in my library but I am not sure I want to commit to all eight of these Australian titles. Might stop with this one.
