The Trackwalker: A Faraday Novel
Jared Macalester is, to all appearances, a trackwalker for the Union Pacific. His first notable action in this entertaining Western pot-boiler is to throw a boorish cowboy off a train, while the train is in motion. The cowboy had been petering a woman newspaper editor Before Macalaster can show his face in the tale, bandits rob a UP train of its money shipment, and kill an agent. Macalester has, in fact, been assigned by the Faraday Security Agency to solve the robbery case, and uses the trackwalker position as a cover. His assignment evolves to cleaning up the railroad town of Ironsprings, and is complicated by the corrupt local lawmen and various roughnecks.

Robert Vaughan

He has also written a series of contemporary and historical romance novels under several pseudonyms including "Paula Moore" and "Paula Fairman". His father served in the military and Robert followed him in the 1950s, entering army aviation. He served until the Vietnam War and won numerous medals including the Distinguished Flying Cross, the Purple Heart, the Bronze Star, the Air Medal with several oak-leaf clusters, the Meritorious Service Medal, and several other medals.
His early books reflected his military background: the first novel was about the US Army along the DMZ in Korea, followed by a trilogy set in Vietnam. There are more than 9 million of his books in print under various names. He was inducted into the Writers’ Hall of Fame in 1998.

This is definitely kind of story I have enjoyed by Mr. Robert Vaughan, as Jared MaCalester certainly is another entertaining representation of true American western folklore adventures. An exciting and descriptive story of a believable era that leaves no stone unturned in solving an ongoing series of train robbery. Very entertaining and informative story of realistic excursions of head to head entertainment.
Definitely another five star masterpiece by an outstanding author of western adventures. This story is so befitting of what I have perceived to detail almost factual information about our true American history. The characters were perfectly selected and there was enough suspenseful episodes to maintain my undivided attention from beginning to end. Too, it appears the other author certainly displayed his apparent research of the era, as the storylines successfully depicted the most important steps in solving another outstanding mystery of robberies.
Too the camaraderie really depicts what I perceived heartwarming episodes throughout the process of solving an ongoing series of train disruptions and robberies. There are episodes of romance that certainly touches any readers heartstrings. If you think things are slowing down just continue reading and you will be rejuvenated immediately with a new twist of events. Very exciting and descriptive episodes from beginning to end!
Certainly have no problem recommending this outstanding story of American western folklore adventures to everyone, regardless of your reading preference, based of the mystery throughout the entire story. Do yourselves a favor and begin reading this story immediately, as y'all (Southern for you all, or all of you) will definitely appreciate this great adventure of western excitement!

A great Faraday novel:
I have so enjoyed this series of the Faraday Railroad detectives and adventures at the close of the civil war through the building of the transcontinental railroad, through this novel of crime in the Wyoming territory.
Each character set thus far has captured my imagination and kept me reading to stay in the story.
Highly recommend…

Different but exciting
This was a follow on and I enjoyed it something’s different than my westerns it was further on through history of the west ,telephones,voting ,various things that were happening so it was very interesting ,some more books please

A wonderful read
A little romance, friendship, and a good who do it mixed in a western. If you love books with an old west background, read this series. Each book is stand alone with different undercover detectives. I like them all. Can’t wait for the next one

Great western story
Another interesting story with so many twists and turns you'll feel like a pretzel. The action is on going and the mystery of the story keeps you guessing until the very end.

It is a joy to find a new, well-written series by a good author.

This was a truly interesting and exciting book. It is well written but could have been edited better. It held me spellbound and kept me guessing.

An Exciting, Suspenseful Western!
Vaughan is a gifted writer in his creativeness and his ability to keep readers glued to their seats with clear, 3-D views of colorful characters and action-packed scenes throughout. That, blended with lots of unsuspected twists and turns and a surprise ending makes this novel well worth reading!

This is a very good book. I am really enjoying this series. Good look at how trains were robbed and the people that tried to stop them.
