The Other Mothers by M.M. Chouinard is the fourth installment of a gripping series focused on Detective Jo Fournier. I was late coming to this gem of a series, but I am making it a priority to catch up on what I've missed, and I cannot wait for the continuation. This one, however, can easily be read as a standalone.

A five year old girl has been murdered, found lifeless in a school shed during recess. Returning from a brief leave after suffering a miscarriage, Jo is shocked not only by the horror

The Other Mothers is the latest book in the Detective Jo Fournier series by M.M. Chouinard. In this novel, Jo’s investigation involves a local elementary school. A child goes missing at recess, and is later found dead. Of course, Jo is determined to find who killed the child.

This is a fantastic crime series. I love mystery series with strong female characters. Jo is smart, dedicated, and tough, but she’s also got flaws, making her relatable. Her personal story is interwoven into the mystery stor

Exciting! Chilling! Author M. M. Chouinard’s new installment in the series was one rocking ride from beginning to end.

A five-year-old child was murdered and ruthlessly dumped behind her school during the recess break. Who would do such a heinous thing? Then came the reaction of the mother who was calm and collected as if grief couldn’t touch her hair. OMG! How? Why? And there was more… Her coterie of friends had something to hide. All of them were puzzled by this family who had more wealth than

Wow! What a book. I love this series and I think this is my favourite book so far.
Detective Jo Fournier is due back from leave but returns a day early as a five year old girl’s body has been found and it looks like she’s been murdered.
What’s even more shocking is it happened on school premises, so Jo and Arnett have a real puzzle on their hands.
Suspicions are aimed at teachers and parents as cameras didn’t pick up any other people entering the school but could it really be someone who knew he

Whatever you do avoid Briar Ridge school. People who go there die. This was my first Jo Fournier book and it won't be the last. Jo is a tough shrewd detective. She's suffered loss, but is ready to open herself to a new relationship. The author is good at throwing off the reader. I missed the mark on a few clues as to who was really behind the killings. And when the truth is revealed, it's chilling and macabre. I think that's why I like reading psychological thrillers, because they are chilling a ...more

The other mothers is my first book in the series and what a great story to start with.
I enjoyed this psychological thriller from the beginning to the last page.
I had so many theories throughout the story and I knew there was something off with the family but never have I thought about that twist at the end.

M.M. Chouinard writes crime fiction that is beautifully crafted. She sprinkles a little bit of herself in her characters, and you will feel how passionate she is from the first paragraph. A brilliant mind, incredible researcher, and delightful human, M.M. Chouinard was destined to be an extraordinary author. She is a modern-day Agatha Christie.

During my previous review for the author I said that she succeeded three times in a row to write an utterly captivating story. Well, let’s make that 4 times in a row, because this one was hitting bull’s eye as well.

Every parent wants to protect their child(ren). Some are doing a great job. Some, though, don’t exactly choose the right way of doing it. You can easily say they make everything worse, so much worse and the greatest problem is that they don’t even see it like that.

This is a fast-paced police procedural where the detectives and the forensic scientists work well together, and even make time to go home and get a reasonable amount of sleep. Jo comes off stress leave to handle the case a day early, partly because her nieces go to the school in question.

What does the death of a teacher have to do with the earlier death of a student? This is the first curve that threw me during the reading of this book, but not the last. Ms. Chouinard laid out a fast paced, twisty, multi-layered story that had me making a lot of guesses that weren't quite right. As a side note, I liked that we got into the relationship between Jo and her sister. Slowly character background is being colored in and it makes the characters more relatable.
