If you know someone who thinks the Bible is either boring or irrelevant to modern life, Sam's book would be a great read to share with them. This volume covers Genesis 1-17 in 35 short chapters with titles like "Is God Married?" (Genesis 1:26-27), "God Is Not a Vegetarian" (Genesis 4:1-17), and "You Want Me To Cut Off What?" (Genesis 17:1-9). Each chapter offers a wry and faithful take on the stories in the pages of our Scripture, and will help veteran church attenders and those new to the Bible to see the old, old story in a fresh, fun light.

While attending the Florida Christian Writers Conference, I met Sam. There, in a Word Weavers group, we critiqued each other's submissions, along with other members. I found Sam's writings to be clever, funny, and really good. (I totally agree with his title.)

In this book, I enjoyed Sam's stories, his perception of the Bible, and his unique insight. I say "unique", since many of the questions he raised had never entered my mind. It caused me to chuckle. I loved it.
