How do you resist someone that sets your body on fire?
Tricia Mattison’s dilemma was one most women would have been glad to have had. The simple answer for most of us would be — you don’t.
With blistering chemistry and irresistible magnetic pull, the scene should have been set for a fairytale romance.
Then why didn’t Tricia think so?
The problem was, although, in his forties, James was still an eligible bachelor. Yay would have been most women’s response, a hot rich guy with no baggage.
However, to Tricia, although she was desperately attracted to him, his bachelor status made him out of bounds.
She knew instinctively the heated way he had looked at her wasn’t just lust, it had said: a family home in the country, kids, and probably a dog… at the very least.
Had he been a divorcee with kids, she knew she would have considered giving up her own lifestyle in a heartbeat.
Who would have thought being a single man would have been a playgirl like Tricia’s hard limit?

The two books combined are an emotional roller coaster of ups and downs. We first meet James and Tricia in Sawyer and Billie's books, it is hinted that they hook up but know one knows for sure, in the first of this duet we find out more about that and what happened. Tricia comes across as hard in earlier books, a bit flighty and certainly not settling down material, but I think James sees something more right from the start. We found out secrets in the first of these to explain and help us to understand and get to know her more, see a bit of what James sees. I for one felt there were reasons behind the way Tricia behaved and slowly over the course of these two books we get to know her better. These are problems that were faced by many young girls in the past and the story gives a realistic idea of the pain and suffering many may have gone through in dealing with the aftermath, particularly those without loving support. Though a lot of the story is somewhat sad, it is also uplifting to see how progress is made in the relationships, the loving connections building up. But there are also lighter sides, the hot and steamy, the humour and banter that had me chuckling along with them. I feel this duet is even better than Sawyer and Billie's because of the issues dealt with in such a raw but sensitive way. I loved these characters and was fully invested in them getting a happy ending and I know we will get another angle from Erin's point in the next of this series, so more will become clear. I know some readers are not keen on getting involved with this type of series but for myself the quality of the stories, the appeal of the characters and the issues and emotional aspect of them by far out way any negative reasons not to give them a try and honestly, if you read the first two and love them then this second duet is a no brainer, you will Want! these books. Gripping, intense, powerful and wonderful read.
Having already met James and Tricia in Resist You, I was thrilled to be given the chance to read this follow up. I loved this duet. I loved the characters and their development and in this instalment it was a thrill to see how Tricia grew. I've said this in the review I left for Resist You that I know KL BUT I don't leave reviews unless I absolutely love a book and I don't blow smoke up arses, either. In this book, we have a new 'relationship' that has to be explored and an old 'relationship' that has to be dissected to determine if it's salvageable. The angst weaves nicely through the plot and in true KL style, you think you've caught your breath for just another whack in the guts to take it away. Highly recommended if you like a nicely paced, angsty romance with the right amount of sauciness and raunchiness. And a perfect combination of characters.
Chasing Love Tricia is book 2 in this duet and we finally get to hear from Tricia, about her traumatic life.
We learn what happened to her in her youth to turn her in to the control loving woman that she is. Her secret had coloured every aspect of her life , her view of men, of children, of love, and finally of letting someone into her life. Tricia was a closed book, until James...
When Tricia finally allowed James a place in her life and her heart she couldn't have foreseen the consequences. Like a hurricane he swept all of her demons aside and held her hand through the storm. He gave Tricia so much love and tenderness and understanding that she had no choice but to submit to his love.
This Chasing Love Duet handles some delicate issues, but, by god does the author take you on a journey with it all. These are substantial books, stories with depth, angst, and smoking hot chemistry. The attention given to the depth of feelings and fears is just amazing. I found myself unable to stop reading for many hours at a time, and I felt like I wanted to reach out and congratulate Kelly Shandwick on so many occasions. Simply beautifully written.
In this concluding part of their story, Tricia’s journey to reconciliation and truth continues to be a raw and emotional one. Fortunately, James is there with her every step of the way, being the unwavering support she needs. He’s confident in his feelings for her and has her back. As the depth of the deception is revealed and the lies are brought to light, she needs him to be her rock more than she’s ever needed anyone before.
This duet has been amazing, both in relation to the storyline and its execution. I was glued to the pages of Resist You and I couldn’t turn the pages of Resist Me fast enough. Whilst the basis of their story and their connection had initially been due to their sizzling sexual chemistry, and don’t get me wrong there’s still a boat load of heat and steam between this couple, it’s the sense of love and support and family, from many different quarters, which really leap from the pages for me. It came as a real surprise that the Tricia we saw in the previous duet would be in need of such support, as I bought into the whole controlling, I don’t need anyone, party girl act she gave out. In fact, unbeknownst to everyone, including even to herself, what she needed was acceptance, understanding and tender loving care where she had received none before. It warmed my heart to see James put his feelings of mistrust and doubt behind him and was truly the man she needed him to be.
A rollercoaster ride of emotions, love, lies, truths and bombshell revelations, Resist Me was a fabulous read and an uplifting and inspiring conclusion to this beautifully written duet.
Wow - Resist You finished and certainly left the reader wanting more. More of James and Tricia, more of the story, answers to the many questions that Resist You left you with. KL Shandwick does not disappoint you on any level - she answers questions , weaves more of the magic of James & Tricia and at the very end leaves you feeling warm, content , but ready for the next delicious instalment.
Tricia and James' face one hit after another as they begin their relationship together. There's stress, anger, grief, anticipation, and love to the nth degree. The characters have depth and I couldn't wait to see what happened next. If anyone ever deserved a happy ending, it's Tricia and James.
I love this Set of books as with Resist You Trica and James didn’t disappoint , the next instalment seems so far away , but as always it will be worth the wait.
Wow what a great story. Resist Me is the 2nd part of the Resist duet and from Tricia’s point of view. We get to hear more details about her past and her mother’s hand in what happened. James has stood by her through all the trauma she that has been holding her back while she worked through it with her family. Amazing and heartwarming read
Resist Me is the second book in the Resist Duet and continues on from where Resist You ended. What I loved about this book is that it is written solely in Tricia’s POV which is fitting as we learn more about her past and witness how those events affect her life now.
This second book cemented just how much I adore James. I already knew that being loved by him was going to be someone’s greatest gift and his loving, caring, kind, passionate, considerate and supporting nature never faltered throughout this duet. Tricia is one hell of a lucky lady!
Tricia’s journey broke my heart at times. I loved how the author wrote her story as I was able to understand that what she lived through had been a very painful experience which left scars on her heart. I admired her strength, and after everything, I hoped that she would get the happy ending that she so very much deserved.
Resist Me is a wonderful and emotional conclusion to James and Tricia's story. This couple have sadly had to deal with loss, heartache, secrets and betrayal. However, what I saw in abundance was love, joy, forgiveness and healing. I’ve always known just how perfect James and Tricia are for each other and I don’t just mean the attraction and their astounding sexual chemistry - They complete each other.
I have loved this captivating and thought-provoking duet from start to finish. It is one that I highly recommend to you to read. What excites me is that we have Erin’s story coming next and I believe that this will add a different perspective to Tricia’s journey which I am very much looking forward to.
We met James and Tricia in Resist You but in this book we really get to know Tricia and the traumatic life she has lead, it’s the conclusion to the duet so please make sure you read book one first. Tricia wasn’t looking for love or a relationship, in fact she had closed herself off to men until James walked into her life and swept her off her feet.... James may be like a Bull in a china shop when it comes to Tricia but that doesn’t mean he is not going to be tender, loving and caring whilst giving her time to realise she really doesn’t have a choice when it comes to submitting and opening up to love. This duet is beautifully written and it handles some delicate subjects with compassion, this is a journey rather than a story and I was so happy to join Tricia and James on their road to happiness. Another great read from the very talented Ms Shandwick and I urge you all to one click this gem.
After reading book one of this duet Resist You, I couldn't wait to read Resist Me the conclusion of James and Trica's story I was totally hooked. In this book we really see the changes in Trica and get a deeper look into her past and the struggles she had to endure. She faces those fears as she forges a new relationship and the one she has with James goes from strength to strength. Trica finally finds the peace she has longed for and the love she didn't think she really deserved.
Once again K.L. Shandwick has written the perfect story, and I look forward to what comes next.
Resist Me, is book 4 in the unchained attraction series and the concluding second part of Tricia and James story looking from the perspective of Tricia.
This book travels through her past experiences and why Tricia struggles to connect letting others into her life, we see previous relationships and various viewpoints.
The characters develop throughout with their trust and love expanding and compassion for one another, with the added just right amount of angst to keep you gripped. A perfect combination that knocks you off your toes when you least expect it. With delicate issues weaved throughout in a captivating way in which makes as a reader very thought provoking.
In this story you see how much Tricia past has affected her every day life. It was beautiful to see all the wonderful changes in her, as she works through her issues. The reason she is able to face her past and look to the future is because of James. His love and support gives her the strength to go after what she wants and get her happily ever after. I enjoyed the ending to this story. It was fantastic. I am looking forward to the next book.
I loved this book you need to read part one resist you to fully appreciate it. Book one was amazing but was very raw this book is like the perfect balm to recover from that. There are still a few surprises for sure but there’s a warmth and a perfect conclusion to James and Tricia’s story. Their journey is perfect story arc even if slow to start off they have a relationship I envy. The lead upto the next set of duets is epic also (you’ll understand once read lol). I Loved all the new characters and old one added to fill out this story to its fullest. K L Shandwick has an amazing ability to set the scene and pull you in and once again has stolen my heart to a new couple. She also has a knack for writing people i would love to slap. Either way I never regret reading one of her books and think you will agree once you have read it also.
Trish may be attracted to James, but she also determined to deny any deeper feelings that she may have for him as they could never have a future together. She has a past that has shaped her into the woman she is today and that means keeping an emotional distance however James may be the one exception to the rule.
James knows that and Trish are destined to be together, so he will help her not only face the past but heal from it as well. He is determined to show her that with love anything is possible and that they are so much stronger together than apart.
Both Trish and James are intriguing characters, and their journey is filled with emotion as heat as they fight for the life that they both deserve.
Brilliant book, 5 stars full of emotion. Tricia hasn’t had it easy and it’s easy to see why she behaves the way she does. Totally captivated by the relationship between Tricia and James and didn’t want it to end.
I knew that K.L. Shandwick was going to give us a HUGE conclusion to James & Tricia's story, but I just didn't know how leveled up it would be. Before I go into my emotional state after experiencing all this goodness, I don't want to forget to state that since Resist Me is the conclusion, YOU MUST READ Resist You FIRST! Up to this point, Tricia has only had me believing that she is just a control freak who knows she doesn't need anything in her life so party on, but there's more to her story than I could have ever dreamed, but she's so lucky that James is with her every step of the way, giving the support that she's never had in her life, and I LOVED him hard. There are so many dirty little secrets that are coming to light, so many lies being unraveled that I was on the edge of my seat with so many emotions going that I had to remind myself to breathe at times. Oh, and there's no shortage of passion between these two which added the sexy kicker to the mix. All of this definitely made Resist Me impossible to put down despite life trying to interrupt. K.L. Shandwick is a brilliant author with such a gift of originality that I really believe EVERYONE needs her stories in their lives! HIGHLY HIGHLY HIGHLY RECOMMEND TO ALL!
5 Star review of Resist Me: Resist Duet (Unchained Attraction #4) by K L Shandwick In book three we found out some of the secrets that have driven James Wild and Tricia Mattison. James and Tricia have a complicated relationship and as I expected this was also an emotional roller coaster of a read. In the conclusion to their story all becomes clearer. The pain and suffering that Tricia endured was palpable and it was heart warming to watch her grow across this duet. I was cheering for James and Tricia to get the happily ever after that they do deserve. I loved how supportive and loving James was , he really came into his own in this book. Resist Me is a raw, gritty, smoking hot, at times sad, at times witty, angsty, well written story that drew me in and kept me captivated from the first to the last chapter. This book has all the feels and will tug at your emotions, it was also a satisfying conclusion to the duet and is one I have no trouble recommending.
What a beautiful conclusion to James and tricias story
Tricia is still battling her past and learning everyday how to over come how she sees things but its hard, James loves her with every fiber of his being and its never been more evident in this, there second book, resist you was there first.
I absolutely love these two, the chemistry is palpable the love they share and how intune James is to tricia is awe inspiring.
Resist Me was a wonderful conclusion to James and Tricia's story - one of love and loss, family, betrayal of the worst kind, secrets and healing. There was heartbreak, tears and raw emotion, angst and drama but also humour and I have to say some very passionate, steamy hot scenes between two people who despite their initial doubts and problems were perfect for each other.
I absolutely adored James, he was Tricia's rock - caring, considerate, protective and simply gorgeous, what a man *swoon*. Their chemistry was electric and I loved the way James stood firm for Tricia through everything she had to deal with..... and she went through so much, my heart broke for her. Tricia grew so much as a person throughout. As her walls cracked thanks to James's love, she bloomed.
Erin was a beautiful breath of fresh air and I loved how she fitted in with no drama after all she went through too. I'm excited to find out more about her in the next duet!
Perfect ending to Janes and Tricias story. James and Tricia moving forward together James is literally Tricias rock in this book. Tricia has so many life changing moments and James is there holding her throughout. A beautiful story with wonderful characters. Looking forward to the next couple who we meet in this book.5*
this was a really great book! its the continuing story of this couple. its gives more details as to why she is the way she is. plus they have more struggles . are they strong enough to handle these? read to find out.
Omg resist me is the 2nd part of the resist duet but the 4th in the unclaimed attraction series ,i was hooked from the start if you hadn't read this series yet then I highly recommend it you will fall in love with the characters
This is book two in the Resist Duet. I loved book one and this was just as good if not even better.
We get the conclusion to James and Tricias story. The chemistry between these two are oh so hot. The story the author gave us pulled me through so many emotions.
Resist Me is another brilliant read by this author.
This is book 2, Tricia's life and it was heartbreakingly beautiful, such a difficult life, and yet she finds James and their story is amazing. You will get lost in this story, it was perfectly written, and even though it has some delicate topics it was done in the right way. Their journey started and now we get to see the path they finally take. Such an emotional turmoil of emotions through their story, you will get hooked from the beginning and won't let it go until you are done with the last page.
5 truly beautiful and amazingly uplifting stars !!!
I just have to get this out now – I LOVED this second part of James and Tricia’s love story!!!! While it wasn’t quite so much about the sexy times, (because let’s face it, this time it’s from a woman’s POV, but it is Tricia and she does love sex, so it’s still there), this time it’s about her journey in getting to know her daughter. There is a lot of spoilers for Resist You, so of course you absolutely have to read James’ POV first, and I’m telling you, you won’t want to be missing out on the first 5-star book in this duet. It’s well worth the reading time and book money!!!!
Again, James really came into his own, this beautiful supportive man who loves totally and unconditionally. He’s fought hard for Tricia’s love, she knows it, she still doesn’t believe she deserves it, but she in no way doubts that he won’t be letting her go any time soon! That’s not to say that he doesn’t call her out when he thinks she making bad choices though, because this man has her best interests at heart when it comes to getting her in the right mind set to finally meet her daughter and develop the relationship.
Tricia has borne the trauma and the punishment of the mistake her 16-year-old self made, in silence until James forced his way into her psyche. Ms. Shandwick has beautifully written Tricia’s story and honoured her strength and sacrifice, along with the many who have lived through a similar journey. The plot is brilliant and I can’t even begin the describe the hates I began to heap upon Tricia’s mother’s head. That woman was a piece of work who I believe got off way too lightly!!!!
I absolutely loved every minute where Tricia’s daughter discovered a family she never knew she had, and they in turn welcomed her, offering love and support. This has also beautifully set up the next duet that I am dying to lay my hands on!
Again, Author KL Shandwick has written a book that deserves 5 truly beautiful and amazingly uplifting stars ❃°
Resist Me is the conclusion of the Resist Duet told from Tricia's perspective. In Resist You James did everything possible to deny his attraction to Tricia, but once they made the connection the man tried to slay all her dragons. In Resist Me Tricia does a fine job of explaining the consequences of said dragons and her man supports her. She shares painful experiences and James stands beside her all the way. Many secrets are revealed and some characters are shown for the vile humans they are. However, James is able to facilitate Tricia's deepest wish and her darkest secret sets her free. Tricia grows to be the woman James has always seen, even though she fights her demons along the way. What I love about Ms. Shandwick's writing is the deep emotional level she gives all her characters. Though she puts them through hell on a regular basis she gives them the world in the end and a true HEA. Ms. Shandwick's writing if full of passion, friendship, loyalty, and forgiveness. I always look forward to reading books by this author and I'm working my way through her backlist and swooning over James as well as her other leading men. Grab this duet and a box of tissues because there will be tears, both of sadness and of joy.
RESIST ME by KL Shandwick is told by Tricia's perspective and I was so anxious to hear from her. We left off RESIST YOU with kind of a cliffhanger. A place where I thought, What's going to happen? 😲 It's official, I love James and how he is with Tricia through this whole books gave me heart eyes. Reading what Tricia was going through made my heart so heavy for her but with James in her corner she finds her way and her life is better than she could ever imagined. What a wonderful and inspiring love story!
Resist Me is the second book in the Resist Duet and continues James and Tricia’s story. In this book we find out about Tricia’s past and how much it has affected her life. I loved James and he knows they are destined to be together and he’s there to give Tricia his support and love she needs. I was on the edge of my seat as secrets are revealed and as Tricia finds the peace she deserves. An amazing conclusion to this story.
The well deserved conclusion of Tricia and James who are two of the most addictive characters in K. L. Shandwick's world. I absolutely love the angst, and turmoil this couple faces together. A heated romance needs a bit of trauma to add that something extra. Tricia's life is one for the books and who James is there to piece her back together and give her something worth fighting for.
