Baby steps… Mads Daniels may have landed at House Of Payne, but she sure as hell doesn’t want to be there. Her tattooist father started out with Payne, and his tales of the boss stealing artists’ work freaks her out in a big way. If Payne ever attempts to steal her art, she’ll have no choice but to unveil him as a fraud. And that could bring down House of Payne itself.
Step by step… Sage McCormick never had a stable home until he joined House of Payne. It’s such a sweet gig he’s even willing to get involved in events like its annual charity auction. Everything is just about perfect, except for the newest recruit, Mads. She refuses to fit in, and he’s determined to find out why. Getting her sexy ass involved in the auction is only the first step in getting close to her… in more ways than one.
Leap of faith The cocky charm Sage exudes like a pheromone bowls Mads over straight into his bed. But as Sage tries to coax her into thinking of the House as her new home, she realizes she has a decision to make—listen to the poison her father spews, or put her faith in the man she loves.

***This standalone contemporary romance contains lots of cursing from both the hero and heroine, multiple sex scenes, and a protective Alpha male who will use any trick in the book to get his chosen woman out of her shell. No cheating, no love triangles, no cliffhangers. HEA guaranteed, along with a satisfying epilogue. Due to adult language and sexual content, this book is not intended for people under the age of eighteen***
I was pulled right into this story. The story flowed well and I was able to keep interested in the story. Read it in one sitting. The story has laughs, pain, secrets, steam, and heartbreak.
If you have not read the below I would recommend reading those books(s) first Payne (House Of Payne #1) Scout (House Of Payne, #2) Twist (House Of Payne, #3) Rude (House Of Payne, #4) Steele (House Of Payne, #5) Max (House of Payne #6) Tag (House of Payne #7) Styx (House of Payne #9) Loki (House of Payne #10)
This is Mads and Sage’s story. Mads is at house of Payne but not happy about it. If things like her father told her about happen she has no problem taking it all out. Sage is super happy to be at house of Payne and willing to help out if anyone needs him. He also wants Mads in a bad way. But in the end will that be a good or a bad thing? After all she has secrets and if exposed, she might not be there anymore. For Mads it will come down to love or loyalty. She had to figure out if she can have both or let one go.
I felt I was able to connect with the characters and the story was a great read.
Mads' father has been filling her head with stuff about House of Payne, and she gets roped into working there but she's keeping her distance from everyone because she's just doing her work, and to find proof of what her father is saying. Sage has noticed Mads, and how she keeps to herself, and the super sexy tattoo artist is bound & determined to get past her walls. It's not going to be easy, but he has one thing going for him, the chemistry is crazy intense, and fate also seems to have taken an interest as well. I LOVE this series so much because the women are strong (sometimes with a damaged kicker) while the men are alpha hotties so a good time is always had by all in my opinion. There are sexy times, angst, and a cast of secondaries that only add to all the goodness. So yeah, trust me when I say that you NEED this series and Sage in your life! HIGHLY HIGHLY HIGHLY RECOMMEND TO ALL!
This is an amazing series!! Mads accepts the job at House of Payne to expose them and their owner of theft. She has been fed this tale of theft for as long as she can remember by her father. Sage is bound and determined to get past the newest hires prickly walls. They were couple before they even knew about it and they have this chemistry going on. Can they maneuver through her baggage as well as his? Great addition to the series!
This is such a good series. I laughed, I cried, I screamed, I was so angry, so sad, so happy, it was an overwhelming story of raw emotion. There was action, romance and fierce love as in all of Stacy Gail's stories. I highly recommend all of her books and series, she creates so much passion and i love her epilogues, as there's always a sense of knowing their futures, something a lot of authors don't do!!!
I don't have anything catchy or creative to title my review🤷♀️...I stayed up all night and have traded sleep for this book😴....and there are zero regrets. It was worth every minute that I stayed up devouring Mads and Sage's story. The complexity...the messages on life...the inner fire it created was perfection. I refuse to spoil any of this story...so you need to click and see for yourself. I promise you'll be unable to put it down!!🥰📚
You know when you enter House of Payne there’s going to be drama; “Sage” is no exception. Sit down and prepare to not put this book down as Sage and Mads use their love to vanquish each other’s darkness.
What a good starts in a new beginning of 2021. Since I am already hopelessly in love of all The House of Payne series, so I am not gonna miss any.
Another tattoist couple (2nd), Ms.Gail always consistent will all the male character, they are hot hunk with star ego and dominant alpha. Except for Scout's alpha (still dominant but a bit less that other). The couple came with their own baggages and darkness which actually those are their red link.
Despite a quite speedy progress in both characters (become a couple within a week), but I didnt find it instant because they actually coworker for about 3 months.
O.M.G….I love House of Payne: Sage!! Sage’s and Mads’ story is filled with ups, downs, twists, turns, and drama. I laughed, cried, got frustrated, and so many other emotional reactions while reading that I loved it. I absolutely and sincerely love books that brings out my emotions and have me addicted to it. I did not want to put this book down. I enjoyed it immensely. Not only did Sage and Mads bring out my emotions there are some inherent truths on life. I am a very new fan to Jesse Cooke, House of Payne, and House of Payne:Sage and I highly recommend them all. You (readers) will not regret reading House of Payne: Sage. I am planning on sitting down and binging the House of Payne series and from there checking out more books by Jesse Cooke. Happy Reading!!
I loved Sage...Mr. Bossy pants himself. He just decides what he wants and gets it. That includes Mads, the newest tattooist at House of Payne. Mads is uber talented but has been told otherwise all her life by her narcissistic father. Sage tells her otherwise. After a brief relationship, they both conclude they are in love. But her father tries to sabotage his own daughter’s work that is entered into the annual art auction.
I enjoyed this storyline and revisiting the House of Payne characters.
I loved this book and how it shows a different perspective can change your look on life. Past present and future. The MCs are great and I can't wait for the next one!
Mads has been "hired" (let's be honest here she was soooo coerced into accepting the job offer) by House of Payne to be one of their premier tattoo artists but it comes at an emotional cost that Mads isn't sure she can afford. Sage has watched the Skittish and ohhhhh so sexy artist for a while (a bit of a secret there) and has never been able to get past her walls. She refuses to connect with anyone. Mads has her reasons for keeping the other artists at arms lengths, she knows the truth about how House of Payne started, heck she was spoon-fed by her father the tales of his theft. She just needs proof and when everything is revealed she wants to avoid the feelings of betrayal being close to the artists would cause. Easy solution - do her job while seeking proof Easy that is until a very insistent Sage worms his way not just into her daily life but into her heart
One bad battery on a cold night provides Sage with the opening he needs to crack the elusive and sexy Mads. Trust he has no intentions of letting her slip through his fingers. He will chip away at her walls even if it takes every trick he knows - Not to mention the patience of a saint
These two *sigh* - The heat their attraction to one another generated could ignite a cosmic boom. I adored Sage. He just laid everything out in plain sight- Said what he thought which occasionally led to "foot in mouth" moments but hey no one is perfect The small mix of angsty moments, skeezy neighbors, and really bad parenting just added to the story Mads at times seemed afraid of her own shadow, not in a bad way, she would defend what was right, defend those she cared for, just not herself. She was strong but emotionally damaged.
House of Payne is one of my favorite fictional families to hang with This is a series I highly recommend for those who enjoy solid storylines with strong heroines and slightly overprotective partners. Romances that will make you laugh, cry, get angry, and most importantly a vivid cast that stays with you long after you close the pages.
Aww, yeah. We're back in the House and things are just as volatile and sexy as you'd expect a top-notch tattoo empire to be. With all those high-talent individuals under one roof, things are bound to get a little intense at times and the House of Payne peeps don't disappoint.
That said, Mads isn't exactly OTT with ego when we first meet her. She's still a little shell-shocked by Payne swooping her up from obscurity and she's basically braced for all her good fortune to come tumbling down at the worst possible moment. Plus, there's the whole thing with her dad. Not only has she grown up hearing about how Payne is a cheat and a thief, her dad's also...not all that supportive of her abilities.
Like, NOT supportive. Which isn't cool. At all.
On the other hand, Sage is all about the support. He sees her talent and he celebrates it every chance he gets. To be fair, sometimes he's not so great about explaining some of the things he does and that causes a wee bit of friction, but he's still supportive to the max.
I genuinely adore the HoP individuals and Sage and Mads are no exception. They live hard and love harder and YESSSSS. So much yes.

I loved how uncomplicated, while being sort of complicated, the relationship between Sage and Mads was! I loved Mads “baby steps” and Sage’s full throttle attitude. I loved how she saw what was there, her baggage weighing her down, while he figured what he did meant more than his words, but when he did vocalize, it was so clear how he explained feelings. I loved that they were super sexy together and had no problems showing or vocalizing that aspect of their lives. I loved how he got her before she even realized there were things to get, and how she got him and supported him as he figured things out. Mads and Sage were a couple before they knew it, and partners before they could think about it, because when it works, it works, and for them, it worked from the very start <3
This is the 11th book in this amazing series and is Mads and Sage’s journey. Mads is a new tattoo artist who is weighed down by baggage and the tales which her father has spoon fed her about theft and House of Payne, which she is there to find proof off in order to expose them. Sage is another artist, and he is determined to chip away at Mads wall and find she keeps herself aloof and refuses to fit in with the rest of the team. Will Mads confide in Sage? This is a well written flawless story which has intense chemistry, family dynamics, relatable and engaging characters, and is an emotional and all0consuming tale. I look forward to reading more from this talented author whose work I highly recommend for all.
Stayed up way too late to finish it... was great to revisit the House of Payne and see some of the old characters and dive into Sage & Mads' story. I really liked it. I held back from 5 stars because there were a few points when the drama between them just went a little too....Eeyore / woe is me.
Will look forward to (and buy!) the next in the series
I love this series and am always so excited to get another character in this world! Sage and Mads were great together. They both had some baggage to deal with (don't we all?) and navigated through that nicely. I liked that the conflict didn't drag out and they seem to tackle things quickly. I loved how protective he was of her. The ending was the cherry on top!
This was full of cheesy sweetness. Seriously the ending was so amazing. I was heading to 3.5 stars but that ending gutted me. The story was predictable but I still liked reading it. I wish that the story had a real bad guy. This was more about emotions. I’ve enjoyed prior House of Sage books. Loki was my favorite.
Mads has been hired to work at The House of Payne as a tattoo artist. She doesn't get close to anyone as her father has told her stories about Payne stealing artists work. Sage has had his eye on Mads for a long time. He tries everything to get her to open up to him. The two end up sparking off each other and making a dynamic couple. Will Mads open up to Sage about her life?
