This was my first time reading a book by Kate McBrien, she was a new to me author. For Your Love was an interesting read that had its pluses but unfortunately, also minuses for me. This was a beautiful story about two broken people learning how to heal apart and together. Colleen's story was dark and heartbreaking and I loved her story and her strength as she recognized when she needed help and to reach out. She didn't let her past haunt her because she was willing to reach out and her strength is admirable.

Colleen met Finn when they were teenagers, but circumstances caused them to be apart for a decade, so they moved on with their lives. Overall, I gave this book four stars because of the way the author, who is new to me, portrayed both Colleen herself and the abuse she suffered. Otherwise, it’s closer to a three, which is still good, but was missing some key elements for me. While I liked Finn, I wasn’t in love with him. I knew he loved Colleen but I didn’t feel this great passion between them.

I'm afraid that this one was only a so-so read for me. It didn't help that I really didn't take to either of the main characters in the prologue. When it came to the main story there seemed to more angst and upset than was in any way warranted for what had happened in the past. Again, I was struggling to warm to the characters or to become invested in their love story.

While this book will undoubtedly be a great read for some, it wasn't for me. I struggled to get through it. From the start, it felt very choppy to me, like I was missing important information. This is the second book in a series, and I didn't read the first, so maybe I truly was missing something.
