Ce qui est sûr c'est que je vais me souvenir de cette Brasserie de Sapporo. Comme toujours un des points forts de l'œuvre est sa galerie de personnages tous aussi charismatiques, attachants que dangereux.
This is the first volume I've read physically now that I've caught up with whats available on the SJ subscription service. While this series has become one of my all time favourites reading digitally, there is a magic in reading a physical copy. Noda's incredible expression work, the astounding panel transitions, the suddenness of movements, violence, and even gags - it's stood out to me before, but never with this clarity. 26 volumes in one of the things that still stands out as What Makes Golden Kamuy So Good is how clearly and carefully Noda builds his enormous casts of characters - carefully introducing each one to the audience slowly and methodically, giving each a backstory, a motivation, a set of goals and dreams that tie into and conflict with all the other characters in interesting ways.
This series is a pinnacle of manga storytelling, and I'll be buying each physical edition as it releases from here on out.
This series continues to be a ridiculous careen of violence and passion excellently rendered. This was definitely a volume heavy on the blood and light on the humor.
Whoa, whoa, whoa! This volume cranks up the intensity to the max! After a few underwhelming volumes, it was such a relief to see the suspense return in full force. The gore and violence were turned up a notch too, making this a truly gripping read.
I was pleasantly surprised by the unexpected resolution for certain characters. Usami’s arc and Ueji’s "disappointed face" storyline brought some satisfying conclusions I didn’t see coming but really appreciated.
There were still quite a few conveniently timed events that felt a little too easy. However, the strong suspense and well-written characters more than made up for it. One thing I’ve always liked about this manga is how even the villains are layered and engaging, making the story enjoyable no matter who’s in the spotlight.
The hunt for two serial killers leads everyone to a brewery where a battle ensues between Sugimoto's group and Hijikata's group vs the Jack the Ripper (maybe) copycat. Meanwhile, Hijikata's group has a run in with Lt. Tsurumi's group so more fighting ensues. Then the brewery is set on fire and somehow this whole thing winds up in a four way battle to capture Asirpa, serial killers be damned.
Also, heavy gore warning. All I'm gonna say is I had a lady condescendingly ask why adults even had graphic novels and lets just say if I had used this book as an example (because it's a perfect example), I would've been fired.
Otro tomo increíble. Empezando por la portada! Aunque ojalá Vasily hubiera tenido más protagonismo aaaa
Yyyyy!!!
Vasily on the cover! Yippee!! He's my favorite!! Leave it to Noda to have a volume that is filled with incredibly-rendered fight scenes, heart wrenching scenes, amazing plot and character development, so many intersecting lines, making me gasp and cry -- and still make me burst into laughter in the last two pages XD I love this manga. So so much. This volume in particular had so many incredible artistic moments and moments of strong characterization. Golden Kamuy IS the blueprint of a perfect manga.
This one had quite the rip-roaring intensity, my appreciation of the fight sequences continues to grow! Noda is great at capturing the tension of the life or death battles so many of these characters get into.
The end of this volume has me (not literally) on my knees wondering when Asirpa and Sugimoto will catch a break. Hoping there is a very pleasant epilogue after all of this!! Please!!
THIS VOLUME IS SO INTENSE AND SEXY WITH ALL THAT'S HAPPENING! It's so good! Also, Usami, that chapter for him and Tsurumi picturing Michaelangelo's Pieta is so INSANE, it's so amazing. THIS IS PEAK.
Ps. Vasily so smitten with Ogata, i take no other opinions.
Oh my GOD this was a good volume! Explosive action and violence, which also served to bring the story ahead – the buildup of the Sapporo chapters felt like it got a great payoff here
