Dive deeper into the adventures of Montana Coggeshall with the third anthology of the bestselling Good Guys LitRPG series! This digital box set contains the seventh, eighth and ninth 7. The Bare Hunt As usual, Montana Coggeshall is hell-bent on doing what’s right, even if what’s right isn’t exactly what’s wise. So he embarks on a quest to vanquish the corrupted ursus, a threat so large they could destroy the entire world of iNcarn8. Does Montana head out after months of training for cold weather conditions, amassing an army, and strategizing with his top aides? Not really. It’s more like he just walks out of his holding one day with a guide and the members of his hirð. They’re just a bunch of angry teddy bears, right? Montana acts on pure instinct, tinged with a healthy dose of rage. He’s stripped bare, and soon finds himself without food, supplies, a key magic weapon, or even his most loyal friends. Still, he continues. Montana Coggeshall is on the hunt. 8. Eastbound and Town Freshly respawned. Far from home. All alone. Up until now, Montana’s journey really only went one up. But now he’s back at square one, stuck on top of a mountain with only the most basic gear to help get him back to Coggeshall. It’s going to be a loooong walk. But not a boring one. In one of LitRPG’s most legendary medieval fantasy road trips (and also possibly the only one), Montana encounters a pack of just-this-side-of-feral wolf people; a town straight out of the Wild West -- complete with heavy-handed sheriff; a lion desperately trying to take down a colossal fish monster; ancient cursed ruins; and a giant flying frog. Eastbound and Town is an epic story full of combat, loot, and achievements. You better believe Montana is loaded up and truckin,’ and gonna do what they say can’t be done. 9. Four Beheadings and a Funeral We join Montana, recently returned from an impromptu study abroad trip, a bit wiser, a bit broader in perspective, and a lot freaked out by the once-dead person who’s currently in his bedroom. Possible zombie sightings aside, he’s finally ready to take his job as Duke seriously. And just in time too -- not only are the politics of the capital rapidly closing in on Montana’s little valley holding, but there are also goblins to negotiate with. Plus, that cult threatening to take the lives of his citizens. Montana will have to pull off the impossible -- walk amongst the highest levels of Vuldranni society to influence world politics, and slaughter a few goblins in the process. ------------------------- Praise for The Good “Such an awesome series. I was dying laughing at the end of chapter one of book 9. It's not all funny, but I love that the quirky humor scattered through the books, making it fun to read!" -Kindle reviewer "Ten Nothings out of Ten, would stab a dwarf into and use as an improvised large weapon again." -Kindle reviewer "This is a story that I hope never ends, it's an escape, it's getting lost in my happy place for hours and feeling incredibly good, it makes me laugh, cheer, creates emotion for characters that seem almost real. To all those other readers in the world looking for an escape and a boatload of fun, I highly recommend this series and author.
There are a lot of things to enjoy in this series - about half of the humor, many of the characters and what bits of the world we learn about. The things that bother me are - the main character, Montana, is truly a moron who never seems to learn from his mistakes. Example (a bit of a spoiler): a goddess gives him a device that allows him to detect the nearest creature that has been infected by a corruption which he is told I'd highly contagious and a threat to the entire world. She also tells him that there are people in his town/village that have the corruption. What do you think he does? He blunders about attending to other random stuff, never addressing the threat to the people he pays lip service to protecting. Also, parts of the world or the cultures feel more like a caricature than anything well thought out. Lastly, you'd think that after 9 books the reader would see light at the end of the tunnel, but not so here. There isn't even an inkling of hope that this story will close any time soon. It seems that many of today's authors are more about milking a series that telling a story. Nine books in, and I'm done. Like I said, there is stuff here to enjoy, but this is just too much investment for too little payout.
Over half the pages were blank and I love the series. I paid for the book. I don't know who is responsible for this amazing cock up but I'm not sure who I can rant at. Amazon or Mr Upland. Eric your books are fantastic but again, all the ends of confrontations are blank pages. Epic bummer.
It would be nice to be indestructible which is what the hero of the story is now! Plus he has lots of adventures and treasure! Mix in all the bad guys and monsters he destroys and we have a good read, enjoy!
New characters and adventures can’t help but love the series of and style. My only issue is when will he use the gifts that he has in his vault!!! On to 10-12 Yay!
Book7 - The Bare Hunt: ⭐⭐ Book8 - Eastbound & Town: ⭐⭐⭐⭐ Book9 - Four Beheadings and a Funeral: ⭐⭐⭐⭐
A bit meandering but our MC is growing and the author decided he's gone too long without killing people we care about and has to make up for that something.
