From the author of An Airline Pilot's Life, awarded "Best Non-Fiction 2020," here's your all-access pass to the authentic, raw, behind-the-curtain airline world. Pilots, flight attendants, the good, the bad, the ugly: the real airline crew life. In the air, the airports, hotels, bars, and behind closed doors-it's the unvarnished, un-pretty, sometimes heartbreaking, usually ...more

This is a compilation of short stories about the life of flight attendants, pilots, and other flight crew members.

Having read his book about becoming a pilot, some of these stories are very similar to what he experienced in his career. Some stories will take you back to 9-11 and the tragedies during that time, some will remind us how working for an airline will affect your family, and others reflect what the crew would do to blow off steam after a long flight or during a layover. There are also

I read another book by this author where I really enjoyed the story but was put off by the amount of typos. But when I saw this pop up in my brand new KU account I thought I would give him another try. Once again the typos, alternative spellings and massive use of : detracted from what could have been a good story. I did enjoy the insider’s view of the airline industry and now have a better understanding of just how exhausted most crews must be. If you can enjoy the story and ignore all the erro ...more

Aircrew Confidential: The Unauthorized Airline Chronicles by Chris Manno is the fourth book that I’ve read by the author. The foreword whispers to you the promise of great stories, a peek behind that curtain separating passengers from crew. And in the way that I have come to expect from Manno, this promise was delivered.

Until I read Manno’s previous book, An Airline Pilot’s Life, my knowledge of the aviation industry stemmed from movies such as View from the Top and Up in the Air. This book was

I have taken many flights. First of all, I secretly and openly have always thanked the pilots and crew that got me to my destination safely. Once, I sat by a lady taking her husband’s remains all the way to Arlington, Virginia to be interred at Arlington National Cemetery. I have actually flown into Billings, Montana more than once and looked forward to my visit each time. While I forgot how during 9/11 all the flights became grounded I will always remember where I was when the first plane hit t ...more

Have you ever wondered what kind of stories you might hear if you hung around a water cooler in an airline crew lounge? If you did, this would be the book to answer that. The stories are fictional, according to the author, but I’m very confident that there is a lot of truth behind them.

All of these stories are pretty short, which makes the book a very quick and easy read. When I started reading, I sort of assumed that all the stories would be the pilot-cheating-on-his-wife cliché. Boy, was I sur

Aircrew Confidential is a fascinating look into the oral history of the airline industry! This is a collection of short stories from various parts of the airline world, from attendants to pilots and engineers to other crew members. Some of the stories will take you back to 9/11, others will tug at your heartstrings. All of them give a glimpse of the struggles and triumphs of the airline industry.

I really enjoyed this book and found it to be incredibly interesting, certainly something that fans o

This isn't a book that contains one continuous storyline, rather it is a collection of short anecdotes about people associated with the aviation industry. From stories about pilots to flight attendants there is something special about each little story. It's an insider's look at those professions, and a little gossipy, but also a fun read.

I enjoyed all the entries in this book, finding them all interesting and well-written. The author has a very concise, breezy, style of writing and there's a lo
