Dan West receives a hand-delivered letter from a little old man in a bowler hat summoning him to the town of Stillwater to receive an undisclosed sum from his great-grand-aunt’s estate. Having recently been fired with nothing but time on his hands and a need for cash, it’s the perfect time for a road trip! But what is Stillwater - and why has no-one heard of it…?

Stillwater #1 was the first Chip Zdarsky-scripted comic I didn’t totally hate! It’s tough to get into at first because Dan is such a s

3.5 stars. Picked this up because of Zdarsky. Man I didn’t see this coming. Our main character Dan gets a random letter speaking of a great aunt of his passing away and leaving some stuff for him. So him and a friend head the the small town of Stillwater. Once they get there, things instantly take a turn for the worst. I mean like 0 to 100.

This was a decent first issue even though it felt like Zdarsky gave too much of the plot away. We get met with a big cliffhanger at the end so I guess I'll buy the second is ...more

Fans of Stephen King rejoice! Horror comics have found a new champion and his name is Chip Zdarsky.

Daniel West is going nowhere fast. He’s a cocksure burnout with a short fuse and a penchant for finding trouble in all the wrong places.

But when a mysterious letter arrives from an estranged relative, Daniel thinks he’s hit the jackpot. All he has to do is travel to the small town of Stillwater to claim his inheritance.

It doesn’t take long for Daniel and his best friend Tony to realize that Stil

I really only checked this title out because it shares a name with my hometown. However, it is an interesting, if not typical, horror story premise but the ending left my curiosity piqued enough to want read the next issue when it's available. ...more
