Reading MeaningFULL was like seeing myself in a mirror – sometimes I liked what I saw, sometimes I cringed a little, and sometimes I got a true glimpse of myself. The 23 stories featured in this book made me laugh, cry, and feel a lot of hope – not just for myself, but for everyone who has a contentious relationship with food and with their own body.
MeaningFULL is divided into three sections: Discoveries, Insights, and Connections. Discoveries investigates how life has changed now that the story

I review books for several publishing companies - just as a hobby. In real life I'm a Clinical Therapist for foster children in Southeastern Kentucky. I have to say I absolutely DEVOURED this book - no pun intended. Rarely have I become so absolutely engrossed in a book I have agreed to review. From page one, the author, Alli Spotss-De Lazzer, engages the reader with an honest and open appraisal of eating disorders, opens the reader up to finding a healthy balance she found in her own life with ...more

A self-help book that actually helps-- 'MeaningFULL: 23 Life-Changing Stories of Conquering Dieting, Weight, & Body Image Issues' by Alli Spotts- De Lazzer is a heartbreaking look at diet culture, eating disorders and the lengths that some people will go to in order to achieve perfection.
Many of us have struggled with losing weight in the past. Every few years it seems like we put on another ten pounds. Watching your own gut or flabby arms develop as you get older is not fun for anyone. But not

I won't lie, 'MeaningFULL: 23 Life-Changing Stories of Conquering Dieting, Weight, & Body Image Issues' hit me a lot harder than I was expecting it to. I went into this book expecting a normal weight loss self-help manual but it ended up being so much deeper and more powerful than that.
Inside this book are 23 stories from different, normal people who have struggled with dieting, body image, eating disorders and more in their lives and have provided their stories as a means to help others. Every

This is a very special book that features a range of brave people that share their dieting struggles and personal triumphs in the most authentic way. There is a story in here for everyone.

Food is so much of our lives and as a plus size woman I've definitely fell into the numerous fad diets due to society's expectations of what I should look like and my own insecurities. When I was reading this, I felt solidarity. I felt heard, seen, and not so alone in my previous thoughts.

More so today with th

I purchased this book to support the author, but found myself relating to many of the stories within these pages, even though I don't have an eating disorder. The book shares such a wide range of experiences that so many people experience at some level, it's easy to find solace in what's being said here. The solutions are as varied as the stories. And that's the point. Many stories brought tears to my eyes, while giving me a greater awareness of how these disorders manifest. ...more

From the day we are born, society inundates us with the message that we must strive for perfection. Supermodels, movie stars, even today’s internet sensations begin programming us from a very young age with the idea that we must fit into a certain mold in order to be acceptable. And that mold is o

After a lifetime of struggle with food, weight and body image issues, reading this book helped me feel much less alone. It’s heartbreaking that so many of us struggle needlessly and the personal stories within this book provide hope and inspiration. It helps the reader realize that it’s possible to live a much freer and fuller life. In addition, the author adds wonderful insight and wisdom from her own personal and professional experiences.
