I received this book from Gay Romance Review Tours in exchange of an honest review.
I am still looking around for some Christmassy books to read so when I got the mail for this book I knew I wanted to try the book! Christmas, second chances, romance, sign me up! I am also delighted to have some teasers for you all to enjoy!
The start of the book was a bit slow, with the conversations between Alvin and his co-workers (and just like Alvin/Deniece, I wasn’t a fan of Davon), though I did like that we ...more

Choices. Life is all about choices and so is Déjà Vu. Lawrence I. Hill explores what do we do when we live in a homophic environment and we have just discovered we like the same-sex. Mind you, Tee realizes this in the 8th grade and has it confirmed one snow day with Alvin his best friend.
Choices. Tee knows what he wants even at a young age: more. For him to get “more”, he has to fit the profile and not be a gay man. This choice brings him immense professional success, but what did he sacrifice?

A short and sweet second chance at love tale.
The tale follows culinary chef- turned hospitality manager, Alvin (yup, there are some chipmunk puns in there) who feels stuck up in his job and is in no way full of holiday cheer. To make things worse, his service is requested by celebrity rockstar Tee Mills (AKA Tim)-his former friend turned bully.
As the two fall into war of words, rehash the past and secrets are revealed, the joys of love and hope are rekindled.

This was a short novella. It was an awesome “cozy” story, like curl up with a cup of cocoa in front of the fire story! I fell in love with Alvin and his friends! Alvin is a Hospitality and Events Director and feels alone. His friend from high school who has become famous is staying at the hotel where Alvin works. They reconnect overcoming some drama from their youth. Overall this was an good cozy Christmas story!! I’m voluntarily reviewing from an advanced copy that I received.

Alvin and Tim aka Tee Mills had been friends in middle school but everything changed when they went to high school, Tim made a new group of friends and didn't even talk to Alvin and his friend targeted Alvin for his differences. Now Alvins working in A prestigious Atlanta hotel and Tee Mills has booked in.

This is a lovely short romance to cozy up with during the holidays. I adored Alvin and his colleague/friends (gotta love a tree-decoration fight in a hotel lobby), and I completely fell for his and Tee’s romance.
Alvin’s life is in a holding pattern, but he isn’t sure what he wants to do about it (if anything). Meanwhile, Tee’s return to his world makes Alvin churn through parts of their past together that he had pushed aside. The weekend ends up with both men finding themselves a bit as they ma ...more

Alvin’s life seemed to be at a standstill. He had moved back to Atlanta, took the job in the luxury hotel, and now he is facing the holidays still alone, not at all enjoying the festive Christmas decorations and the non-stop loop of Christmas music. What was meant to be temporary continues to hold him here five years later. But all that will be shaken up when he sees that someone from his past is arriving at the hotel for a week. Tim, now the famous R&B singer “Tee Mills”, will be staying for a

This is a nice little holiday novella about two men originally separated by missed opportunities and a large misunderstanding. Alvin left Atlanta for California but came back to take care of family. He winds up getting stuck in a rut, working at a luxury hotel. Imagine his surprise when a now famous blast from his past books a week at the same hotel and keeps requesting his presence. Tee left home to find his success as an R&B singer, but still mourns the loss of his best friend he left behind.

When you're ready? Jump! Alvin is the Dir of Hospitality and Events, out and proud. His staff of Davon and Deniece are absolutely cool. Tim/Tee is a closeted R&B star who keeps secrets. He went to school with Alvin and they were close for awhile. Then misunderstandings coupled with miscommunications led to their friendship dissolving. The consequences affected both their lives. They were formed as men and professionals by what they did not resolve. Tim booked into Alvin's hotel for a week to han

**First Time Reader** A very entertaining read. To be a short story it packed in a lot of good stuff. Friends to enemies to lovers are always a page turner for me and this didn't disappoint. You felt the sexual/emotional tension between Tim and Alvin immediately once they met after so many years. All the misunderstandings, betrayals and hurt the guys went through came full circle once they were able to talk. Their coming together was oh so HOT and kind of sweet. Besides the romance, there was th

This holiday romance feels like a fantasy come true: Alvin's first love, now a famous singer, comes to the hotel he works at and allows him to get closure from their troubled past and, even better, gives him hope for a better future. Alvin is a deeply likable character, and his coworkers/friends are a wonderful blend of snark and support. Tim/Tee, I didn't love as much: I'm not as forgiving as Alvin, and I'm not sure knowing his motivations for past bad behavior would be enough to get me to over

This is a beautifully written story about second chances. Alvin is back in Atlanta working in a hotel when his childhood friend, Tim, comes to stay at the hotel. Tim is an R&B singer known as Tee Mills and asks for Alvin personally to tend to him while he's staying there. Alvin isn't thrilled at first but Tim is determined to talk to him. As the two of them talk Tim confused some things he'd kept from Alvin from their childhood. Things like his feelings for Alvin. This is a sweet story as Alvin

Deja Vu is a nice Christmas romance by Lawrence I Hill.
It's definitely a cute, short, feel good read. The second chance for the men, and the chance to find a purpose in life is all well done. It's a story with fears and insecurities. It's a story with some fun side characters and a second chance.
I love the idea, but I had a tough time with the connection between the characters. That kept my rating down.

I really like second chance stories and add to that a holiday theme and it gets even more interesting. Alvin and Tim reunite after time apart. Alvin is currently in a rut, Tim has some success as a singer but missed Alvin. Now they have a chance while together again to share how they feel and see where things can go. Though not a long story it packs a punch.

Deja Vu by Lawrence Hill is a sweet and quick read. A second chance love story that I found sexy, sweet and cute. I almost wish it was a full length novel because it flowed by so fast. I really liked the characters, their chemistry and all the interactions. I feel like this book could even be expanded if the author wanted to or to spin off it without her characters' stories. I recommend this fun and sweet read.

Really nice to see a story about an R&B singer rather than the traditional rock star romance. I love the tropes of second chance romance and people finally finding the courage to come out and embrace love. Although this is a short, easy read, the characters are fully developed and we completely understand their past and how it has affected their present. Their new openness with each other and long overdue communication made for a great Christmas story.

The story is almost entirely written from Alvin’s POV and focuses mainly on how he felt about his former best friend betrayal and on the conversation the two men have that finally resolves the hurt and pain caused by their teenage fears and peer pressure. Little heat, and almost surreal ending, but it is a Christmas short story, so I take it.
I had never read a book by this author but I liked the writing style so I will look his other books up.

Love lost and found.
A cute seasonal tale about love lost and then found. I must admit, that I found it hard to forgive Tim for how he'd treated Alvin whilst they were at high school. I'd have been spitting mad, once I met him again. That's on me though. I'd have liked more background story, and an epilogue, the story seemed to finish up in the air. Nicely written though. ...more

Déjà vu is a nice holiday story; full of reconnections and second chances. Alvin working at home in Atlanta when his childhood friend shows up. Tim is now an R&B singer Tee Mills. Though famous, Tim finds he’s missing something, Alvin. Being present in Atlanta Allows Tim the opportunity to reconnect with Alvin and a chance at a relationship he threw away. Cool Story.

What a fantastic, grab-you-by-the-feels, poignant, tug-at-your-heartstrings, smoldering, engaging, charming, sweet, marvellous, adorable, delightful, and totally awesome second chance holiday season romance. It pulled me in from the very first page, and I would definitely recommend getting this gem for yourself.
