This is a cozy mystery, and this is the 5th book in the Dog Club Mystery series. I found the first part of this book a bit boring and slow moving. The ending was fast pace, and I loved it. I cannot say how much I loved the ending. I love the characters in this book. The characters came to life for me while I was reading this book. This book would be a four to five stars book if the first part of the book was not so boring or slow moving. Overall, This is a fast read and a good read. This is not ...more

The Dog Club Mysteries are one of my favorite pet cozy series because I love all the dog characters in the story. I also enjoy the feisty friends, Lilly Ann Echosby and her bestie, Dixie Jefferson, as they dive headfirst into drama and murder; danger and rescue; with heart and good purpose in mind.

As the fifth story begins, the members of ‘Dixie’s Pack’ obedience class are appalled when a bitter judge, Naomi Keller disqualifies each and every one of them because she wants her palms greased. Naom
Bringing casseroles to the bereaved is NOT just a Southern thing! In Minnesota it's Green Bean Casseroles and in Wisconsin it's Tater Tot Casseroles!
The road up Lookout Mountain, on the other hand... The last time I was on it was during an ICE STORM and it was even scarier than during fair weather!
About the story. The sleuthing is good, the characters are very real and well portrayed, and the dogs are wonderful (but the Plott Hound is much more well behaved than my sister's).

I truly enjoyed this book. It wasn't quite a non-stop read but it was close! Despite that it is book 5 in the series and I haven't read the others, I did not feel lost. I wasn't a fan of the numerous recaps from previous books in the series but they were short so it didn't impact me too much. I love all the animals and the characters were entertaining. A great cozy! ...more

I will come clean right at the get go. This is my first book by V.M. Burns. It is the 5th book in the Dog Club Mystery series. I generally am a stickler for reading a series in order. but I took a chance as Poodles are involved. I really felt nothing was lost in reading enjoyment in reading the fifth book..It felt like it could have been a standalone. although I liked it enough to go back and read the first four in the series. I loved many things about this book. I liked the characters, the info ...more

Sit, Stay, Slay by V.M. Burns is the fifth book in her Dog Club cozy mystery series. Ms. Burns brings her readers back to Chattanooga, TN where there is always a mystery to solve for Lilly, Dixie and Red. Over this series I've enjoyed the growth and development of these characters and the secondary characters who have now become "friends". I find myself slipping into this world and don't want to leave.

The story is paced smoothly but quickly as Dixie has become a prime suspect in a murder. "Dixie

I haven't had the pleasure of reading the other books in the series but this does work well as a stand alone book too.I will be looking into more dog club mystery books in the future!

I found the book a bit slow from the start as there was a large range of character introduction with a lot of information to process, I am unsure how this would far for others who have read the previous four books of the story as it is a reintroduction to characters. This however does provide the option for it to be

Lilly Echosby is finally participating in a dog show. While it might be a trial run and doesn’t count, she and the participants of Dixie’s dog training are all participating. The judge for her group turns out to be Dixie’s childhood friend turned nemesis and she is not taking kindly to Dixie or her students. When the judge is found murdered, Dixie is the main suspect and Lilly and the gang need to save their teacher before she’s sent to permanent detention in the big house.

The mystery is not very complex, but the characters are likable and unlike many cozy mysteries, this one thankfully misses twee. The dogs are present enough for dog-lovers (me) but not so much it would bother people who don't like them. I also learned a fair bit about the intricacies of dog-training (though being that I have a willful beagle, I doubt I'll ever need the knowledge...) I'm definitely going to check out more of the author's work.

I love V.M. Burns' cozies because it always feels like returning to a group of friends after a time away and you pick up right where you left off.

Lillian Echosby has decided to entry a mock dog show to test the waters with her Poodle, Aggie, before the real deal. Her friend Dixie is a judge and her class coach. During the show, every member of Lilly's class is disqualified due to a long-standing feud between Dixie and the judge, Naomi Keller. We quickly learn Naomi is a bad person and when she

An engaging mystery with a feel good ending. It all started at a mock trial dog show with lots of drama then the murder of a much detested person. Lilly Ann, CPA, finds herself in the middle when her best friend Dixie becomes a top suspect and her boyfriend's superiors what him to arrest Dixie. Lilly sees solving the murder, and quickly, her only way out.

There is an enjoyable cast of characters, dogs included, and a great family/friend vibe in this story. Thanks to Lyrical Underground and NetGa

Lilly Echosby is once again involved in solving a murder. This time, it's personal when her long time friend Dixie is accused of murdering her high school rival who is now a judge in the dog training/obedience world. Lilly has to act quick before the murderer strikes again.

The Dog Club series is a favorite series of mine for many reasons - the mystery, diversity of characters, portrayal of family and friendships, humor and a little romance. Lilly is a relatable character and her relationships wi

Sit, Stay, Slay is the fourth book in V. M. Burns’ A Dog Club Mystery series. The storyline is well plotted, and the well-developed characters are likable. The story flows at a steady pace, with humorous moments and an intriguing mystery with enough twists and red herrings to keep the reader engaged and guessing. I recommend this series to anyone who enjoys reading a well-crafted cozy mystery.

This is the first of the Dog Club Mysteries that I have read. This is a really tight knit group of friends who bonded over their love of dogs. Dixie is a dog trainer and experienced at showing dogs, but the others in the club have never shown in the ring. To help them get a feel of a real show they plan a mock dog show that will them practice. Unfortunately Naomi, the judge at the show, is an old enemy of Dixie's and she is determined to break every rule to make Dixie and her friends and their d ...more

Sit, Stay, Slay, the fifth book in the Dog Club Mystery series is an absolute delight! Author V. M Burns manages to capture the cadence of Southern living, the warmth of friends and family, and the endearing cuteness of a variety of dogs, all the while treating us to a fun and engaging mystery.

This is the 5th and final book in the Dog Club Mystery series. I am sad to hear that it is ending as I have enjoyed every one of these books. I loved getting to know Lilly Ann and Dixie and all their family, friends, and dogs. In this story, the members of Dixie's obedience class are competing in a local dog show. Even though their dogs have all competed well, other dogs were awarded that did not deserve the win. It turns out that Naomi, the judge, has an issue with Dixie. Of course, when she en ...more

The fifth in this series finds Dixie Jefferson as the main murder suspect. Friends turned enemies doesn’t end well for Naomi. Someone has put an end to this selfish, self-centered witch. Naomi has a sorted background. Her actions are just despicable. She uses her position as the head judge of the mock dog show to disqualify most of Dixie’s clients. She hurts Chyna, one of Dixie’s dogs, during the show. Naomi’s step daughter stages a protest at the show which winds up with Naomi covered in syrup. ...more

Reading this book was bittersweet to me, because I know it's the last book of this series, which makes me really sad, but I thought the author did an incredible job of creating nice endings for all my favorite characters. I would absolutely love it if the series could be revisited down the road a few years. I won't give anything away, but my statement will make more sense after you've read it too!

Thanks to for allowing me to read this for an honest review.
This is the fifth book in the series and the first one I have read. I picked it up because it's a mystery with dogs, and more specifically dog shows. Their dog trainer, Dixie, confronts the judge. When she steps on Dixie's dog, the confrontation turns physi

I adore this series. I love the Cozy Mystery genre and the easy to fall in love with protagonists. However, I hadn't realized I missing something more until I read this series. The protagonist is a middle aged woman dealing with real middle aged problems. It was really nice to truly relate on a deeper level.

What a fun cozy! Lilly is back to sleuthing when her bestie Dixie is a suspect in the murder of nasty Naomi. Fortunately for Dixie, there are a lot more suspects to study and Lilly, Red, and the rest of their friends are doing their best to clear her name in this fun, doggie loving and fast paced mystery. I can't wait for more in the series.
