I'm a geek, a gamer, a music lover, and a voracious reader. I love Star Trek and B-grade movies like Attack of the Killer Tomatoes and Sharknado. I enjoy figuring out software and learning new things and applying them to whatever book I'm currently working on.

I write romantic adventures. I live vicariously through my characters. I can be a knife-wielding forager who saves her family from deadly kidnappers or a slinky thief who must outmaneuver her sadistic cousin. My male characters aren't cookie-cutter either. There's so much diversity in the world that one size does not fit all. It's the same for love. My male characters range from he-men, alpha types to nerds in glasses who can kickass when needed whether in a board room or in a parking garage.

The one thing they all have in common is they are people who learn to move past their hurdles and find love.

I was resoundingly this but then...

It took off into 80 different plots, at least. I am just overwhelmed by all the people and the plotlines, and the people, and just everything. And there were gaping holes in the story too. I realized I missed the first book so maybe that all connected them. And the romance was so odd. He leaves her for a younger woman and is going to marry her, and she is a serial cheater and skank. But he doesn't know that? Just so many twists and turns and I just was totally lost. There are secret babies, murder plots, sex trafficking, murder, and so many unconnected plot lines like I said that by the end of the book I was tired and pretty over the storyline. I want to know more about the people in the book but I just don't know if I can read anymore if it's so confusing. I probably will though. I should have read them in order.

I’ve read this author before (The Rayburn Mysteries) so I was eager to see what this was all about....

Now that was different. I really enjoyed that.

Elizabeth Is happily in love, she has a secret she can’t wait to tell her stepfather and husband, but before she can do that, she overhears something that smashes her world to pieces!
I get the impression she’s quite a sheltered person, she might write novels under a pen name, but she lives the peaceful life. All she has ever wanted was a family, after losing her mother, her best friend and stepfather became her family, then Rafe was added, and Elizabeth was happy.
So she’s got no choice but to run.....

Rafe I wanted to hate, he really was vile to Elizabeth, but the more you read about him, the more you come to realise he had been played!
He really did love her at first, but an arrangement between Rafe and Harold (stepfather) with Elizabeth’s knowledge and consent (which he finds out she didn’t know about) sours the marriage, now he wants out! The marriage (unknown to Elizabeth) was only meant to be for a year.
He thinks she’s a gold digger, a cheat and possibly unable to conceive a child! Add in the fact his housekeeper hates Elizabeth, his mother despised her and wants him to marry someone with more clout in their circle!! (So he had that going on in the background)
My thoughts were if you were in love with that person wouldn’t you challenge them about the affairs? And why only a year?
Thought he was a bit of an a$$ to be honest. And a bit gullible (your new girlfriend is taking you for a FOOL!!)

I liked that, a second chance type of romance, not my usual read, but I really enjoyed the drama, the suspense, and although we knew who the bad guy was (stepfather) and we knew why, it was more than just that.
The secondary characters were great, they took Elizabeth (now Colby) under their wing and made her feel she finally had a family. They kept her safe from her stepfather, they bolstered her when she was low, and loved her unconditionally.
The first part of the book is Elizabeth trying to get to grips with the betrayal and shock of her marriage, throw in the fact her stepfather and best friend were trying to kill her (very large estate in trust for her) Coping with a pregnancy on her own, and still in love with her ex! She’s finally living the life she wants. But with constantly having to look over her shoulder for her stepfather it’s all taking it’s toll on her. But she’s not going to give up!
And I like she’s finding her backbone, she has an opinion and she’s not afraid to voice it anymore.

We jump to six months and find Colby (was Elizabeth) living a quiet life on a ranch, she has her extended family around her, and life is growing inside her nicely, she’s also written a book. Life is good (so you know something is coming to screw it up!)
Well it does......
From there it’s a fast pace of cat and mouse, Elizabeth pretending she doesn’t know what her best friend and stepfather are planning, planning for her future.
Then add Rafe wanting a second chance! She still loves him, and wants them to be a family.
But he’s going to have to prove he’s serious, she wants them to be together always, so it’s down to Rafe to show her.

It’s a second book in the series, I didn’t read the first one. But you don’t need to.

So will Rafe and Elizabeth/Colby get back together? What happens when he finds out about the baby? And can Elizabeth stay one step ahead of her stepfather?

Definitely recommend this book if your a fan of murder/mystery stories.

This book is gripping, captivating and draws the reader in with lots of intrigue action and suspense and succeeds in keeping the reader on the edge of their seat, captivated and with baited breath. This book is exceptionally well written, the plot astonishing, characters have depth and growth tangled with realistic array of emotions ranging from mistrust, disgust, disappointment, hatred, sorrow, protection and love. Betrayal comes from sources close to both Elizabeth and Rafe and the book takes a much darker turn when secrets regarding Elizabeth's mothers death comes to light as well as the depth of the deception Harold waeves.

The book opens with action with an elated Elizabeth due to a newly discovered pregnancy, overhearing a discussion between her husband Rafe and stepfather Harold about arrange marriage, a baby and a contract, shocked she hides in the the bathroom to compose herself and when she is ready to leave she overhears plot to murder her, keep her baby and overhearing that her mother's death was not an accident and that she was murdered by the same people plotting to kill her. Getting home after sneaking out eventually after being unnoticed, her husband Rafe tells her he wants a divorce and he has been having an affair. Keeping her pregnancy a secret Elizabeth leaves but not after making new friends, and drawing on her contacts as a very sucessful but secretive mystery writer.

What follows are months of cat and mouse games while Elizabeth does whatever she needs to do to protect her baby while plotting Harold's demise and surrounding herself with people to help her, including changing her name and get a decoy. I loved that Elizabeth/ Colby was a strong woman that did what she needed to do to protect her babies, the people she surrounded herself with and herself, she was strong enough to realize that both Rafe and herself were being lied too and manipulated by the people around them.

The author did an amazing job highlighting and describing the emotions and feelings between Elizabeth(Colby) and Rafe and their love and attraction to each other even while separated. The supporting characters and relationships between them were realistic and well done. I loved this book can't wait to read more by this author.

Elizabeth seems both naive and street smart. She walks into a situation that changes everything in her life. She is going to surprise her husband and step-father with the news that she is going to have a baby. What she finds is that her husband doesn't love her and her step-father is going to kill her for her money when she has her baby. She now has to disappear before he can get his hands on her child. As for her husband, she loves him but she will release him from their marriage so he can find some happiness. So many things happen and the strangest of all is, her husband really does love her but he has been fed so many lies since the beginning of their marriage that he doesn't know what is real anymore. She knows she will never convince him of the truth, so she disappears and changes her name. That won't stop him. Elizabeth doesn't know who to trust. The person she thought was her best friend is one of the people trying to kill her. Along the way, she makes a new family. Will she be happy? Can she save her babies?

This is my first time reading something by Ms. Fields and I enjoyed it very much. The storyline is gripping and pulls you in right from the start. There is mystery and suspense which kept me anxiously turning the pages to see what would happen next. The story of Elizabeth and Rafe and the betrayals they face and the secrets that come to light were intriguing. The characters were well-developed and were relatable with great personalities and depth. The author did a nice job of bringing the story and characters to life with her writing and vivid descriptions. It was a brilliantly written story and I look forward to reading more by this author.

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

This book was phenomenal! I couldn’t put it down! With every twist and turn I was even more intrigued! This innocent, naïve virgin was used by so many people in her life. But then we learn she’s actually a famous writer. Eventually (with lots of help) she actually shuts down a sex traffic ring! She is badass despite the horrible circumstances she’s forced into.

The Baby Contract by CeeRee Fields

Totally unexpected storyline. Took a while to understand the story, with all the twists in the beginning. Once in there, captivated to the end. Enough romance, suspense and believable funny moments to make this a book that was thoroughly enjoyable to read. Highly recommended. Thanks

Interesting idea, poorly written

While the core idea is interesting, there are too many inaccuracies and contradicting facts. The style and grammar are appalling, it is obvious nobody proofed or edited the book.

Each time I thought we were getting to the climax, we didn’t. Thought I was nearly done only to discover I was 52% of the way through. Some grammar, spelling and sentence structure issues. A bit dramatic and not realistic at all, but I still somewhat enjoyed it.
