She tried hard, to stand still, to control her trembling, to squeeze her thumping heart. Holding onto the razor-sharp scalpel that suddenly felt heavy. Murder? No, that was not a part of the plan.
When Ohio based Aria decided to join her friends on their camping trip in a secluded location, deep in the forests of Dandeli; she was looking forward for that last dashing weekend before heading for college.
But then, two strangers join. When Anya introduces her mysterious boyfriend, Kai and his cheerful, and yet over-friendly best friend Rylan; Aria feels something is off.
Initially, everything seems fun, but when Rylan suggests they spend the weekend at his Cabin, Aria couldn’t shake off the feeling that they can’t come back from what they are going into.
THE WEEKEND NEVER ENDED! As secrets are uncovered, a sinister plan unfolds. And deaths follow.
Aria is on a camping trip in Dandeli with her two best friends, but things already aren’t off to a good start. Matt insisted on bringing his snobby girlfriend, Zoe, and Anya surprises all of them when her secret boyfriend, Kai, arrives with a friend. Aria doesn’t trust Kai or Rylan, and she’s right not to. Rylan suggests spending the weekend at his cabin, and the trip soon descends into horror. I received a free e-copy from the author in exchange for an honest review. I really wanted to like this more because I hate giving low ratings to authors who were kind enough to ask me to read their books, but I strive to put my honest opinion in all my reviews. One thing to keep in mind is that I may have aged out of the target audience some time ago. There are YA books that are delightful for both young adults and older readers, and there are others aimed only at a slightly younger demographic, and The Cabin seems like one of those. It’s a bit juvenile all around, from the writing and the characters to the shaky plot, but those probably aren’t things I would have noticed at sixteen. As promised, it is creepy in concept if not quite in execution.
Usually, I’m able to overlook grammar issues from self-published books, since they don’t have the benefit of rounds and rounds of professional editing, but they’re numerous enough here to be distracting. The narrative can’t seem to decide on a tense, and it hops between past and present in ways that don’t always make sense. Given its length, I don’t feel like we delve deep enough into the characters either. The things happening to them are horrifying, but I was never there with them in the horror. It’s high on angst but low on substance. I really like that the events take place in India, but I wish it featured more in the story. There’s only one Indian-American character, and there isn’t a lot on the scenery besides ambiguous forest.
The characters themselves are somewhat flat. I felt for Aria’s situation, but I didn’t really feel like I knew her or her friends. The villain(s) are basically caricatures of toxic masculinity. There’s an awkward captivity romance, which might be prudent on an evolutionary level ("You bond with your captor, you survive. You don’t, you’re breakfast.”), but it’s extremely off-putting to read about, down to a sex scene that’s truncated (for realism purposes?) but graphic for a YA novel. The plot’s premise is horror-movie appropriate but unfortunately not all that solid. It’s unclear why Aria and Kai are sharing a room at all despite some attempts to explain it away, and the villain(s) radically shift perspectives without much insight into why. While it’s not for me, I hope it finds its audience in YA thriller/horror lovers.

Don't let the length of the book fool you, this book carries a punch and you'll feel it.
The cabin is a book about nightmares, real nightmares, from page one this book will grip you and keep you that way until the very end.
Aria and her high school friends Matthew and Anya have planned a camping trip to a remote area in India. It was supposed to be the trip of a lifetime, to enjoy and spend time with each other before heading out to college. Everything was going smoothly until two strangers show up and invite them over to their cabin.
Everything seems ok, but for Aria she felt an uneasiness about the cabin and their owners. They should have never changed their plans, what follows is a story about survival, strength and courage that will break your heart and will leave you wanting more.
Actually, i love how the story went through, since its prolog threatened me dreadfully, and certainly it made me courious what would happen next to.
The story was so entertaining and fathomable. The riddle led my curiosity to read this book untill the end.
About the idea of story, to be honest, i've read some books or watch some movies sort of that theme, but this story remained sense of eeriness in my mind. I must confess that the story had a good plot and run peoperly. I need it more creative in shocking and more racing my heart poundings, though.
My advices toward the author is i hope for the next story, you should make shocking moments come naturally and play my adrenaline extrimely. Don't forget, Please avoid some repetitive words in your work as well. I'm sure in the next, you can make it better than you did. . Anyway, thanks a bunch for the author who delivered me this digital copy as free. It's such a great having a chance to read your work.
This is the first book in The cabin of nightmares series.
Three friends Aria, Anya and Matt plan a vacation in the forests of Dandeli and were expecting an thrilling week ahead. But their trip dint start on a good terms as Matt thought of bringing his irritating girl friend Zoe on the trip.
And it became worse when Anya surprised them with her boyfriend Kai and his friend Rylan who accompanied him. Aria gets a bad vibes from the time she saw Kai and Rylan and her intuition warns her not to trust both of them.
When Rylan suggests they spend the vacation in his cabin, Aria suspects something wrong is going to happen and she is not wrong. What follows is series of horror, thrilling and suspense-filled story which will leave you amazed. Will they be able to escape from the cabin? What mystery does the story unfolds?
This is a very unique and intriguing story that can be read in one sitting. The story involves violence, murder, horror, depression, torture, deaths and you will be thrilled when each scene unfolds. The author's storytelling ability is amazing and she knows exactly where to put the twists to keep the readers hooked till the end. I loved this book a lot and I recommend it to everyone.
A short yet intriguing read. A unique storyline with unexpected twists that keep you on the edge until the very end. A well written and thoroughly engaging read .
Twist on twist on twist... Does it ever end??? I absolutely love N. C. Ferrao. I was reluctant in the beginning, but once I started, I could not stop. I really liked the idea of the book as a whole. Four friends lost in the forest, meeting strangers, and then, the cabin. It was one hell of a scary ride.
The characters were definitely likable, and I enjoyed having their secrets unravel. Ferrao is best with her cliffhangers, and the one at the end had me wanting more.
The ending did leave some unanswered questions, which I am sure will be revealed in the next book.
This is an honest review in exchange for a free copy of the book.
The Cabin is a 175 pages story so if you like thriller books that you want to finish in one sitting I'll suggest this one. The languange is simple yet the story is very interesting. The author knows when to put the twist so the reader will continue reading it. This book is all about a group of friends go on camping who met two stranger and invited them to stay on the cabin because of the heavy rain.
Hands down my favorite book of the year so far. The Cabin is well written and allows the reader to envision the setting easily. It is both thrilling and captivating, leaving you on the edge of your seat the whole time. Nikita has an amazing way of throwing in an unseen twist in the mix that leaves the reader craving another chapter. I am excited that there is a sequel and I can't wait to get my hands on it.
I completed reading the book and to my surprise I completed it way too earlier. I couldn't hold myself for reading on further. The way things are described attracts the reader. I find the book a lot interesting. I couldn't wait for the next part. Do keep writing, I feel you have a deep skill which is reflected by your writing. All the characters are explained well and the idea of the book is very thrilling. I could find my hands chilling at point. Just a very interesting book.
This book had me honestly shook. At first I didnt quite understand what was happening and how everything would fall into place, but then I kept going. I needed to know. I needed to find out why the strange vibe existed and how to get rid of it. Note to self: never go to a cabin in the woods. Never.
It's a very fast paced book, so it's easy to read when you're in a reading slump
Amazingly written! I haven’t read a suspenseful horror mixed with a bit of romance book in a while and this book made me question why I stopped. The ending is what had me, let’s jus say I let out a big NOOOOOO😭I was to into it and... well... you jus ganna have to find out;) This book follows our four friends names, Aria, Anya, Matt, and Zoe. They planned a trip for their last time together before parting ways when they graduate high school. They are forced camp out in the forest because their destination was hard to reach in a days drive. Anya surprised them with her boyfriend, Kai, and his friend, Rylan. When they get flooded out and are forced to leave their campsite, Rylan mentions a cabin that they know of not to far away. Everyone agrees before they knew what they had coming. This book will have you hooked till the end! YA Thriller readers. This one if for you!!👀

A book where the readers remain glued to their seats till the end. The language is subtle, the story is enticing. Give this book a read without second thoughts!
As a fan of slasher movies, I thought I would enjoy this book. Unfortunately, turned out I didn't really enjoy slasher stories on pages as much as I would on screen. This would still make a great read for the right audience though; it was just not for me.
The main protagonist, Aria, was anticipating a fun trip with her close friends, Anya and Matt. It was a long overdue break for all of them to reconnect and refresh their friendships. Unfortunately, they got stuck into a situation (no spoiler here) which endangered their lives.
The premise was enticing, the characters were alright. What was lacking for me personally was the solidity of character motivations. When characters did something or reacted to something, I didn't always understand why they would do it in the way they did. Also, some of the dialogues felt repetitive.
Having said that, it was such a short book so I flew through it. And for an independently published book, it was edited 'nicely'; I didn't find any typo or grammatical error.
I would recommend this book for fans of Fear Street or Goosebumps.

I received a copy of this book for a honest review. The story starts out with a group of teenage friends from Ohio going to India for some time together. But a few others join in. Aria and her best friends go out into the wilderness for a camping trip. Matt decides his girlfriend Zoe should join up, and then Aria's friend Anya who spent time growing up in India invites her boyfriend to join them. He brings a friend with him. Things for the group go downhill from there. I'll stop there, the rest is just a bit of bad horror story with poorly done verbalizations. To me it was as if the author couldn't figure out how the characters should talk to each other. And after several of the characters get killed or disappear, I don't think that the rest spoke more than 1 or 2 sentaces in a row. I don't think there is a follow up book, but if there is, I don't think I will try it.
If you are looking for a book that you want to finish in one go, this is for you! The Cabin is a perfect YA thriller that has a potential to keep its target audience hooked. The language is simple, the story is interesting. It is a mixture of suspense, horror and romance. As this is the first book in the trilogy, it leaves a few things unanswered. Highly recommended for fans of YA thrillers!
Wow! N. C. Ferrao does it again! This is her second book and I must say it's crazy tense. I was hooked right from the start, straight to the final cliffhanger. I found it hard to want to put the book down
I truly loved how the author told the story and was happy to know that this is not your typical happy / sad ending, but rather a cliffhanger that will make you wanting more.
This book is highly recommended to thriller book fans.
This was a quick read with short chapters. The book is fast-paced and you want to know what happened next. The book had surprises at unexpected places.
Unfortunately, this book didn't work for me. I had high expectations from the synopsis and a gripping preface. Since the characters are teenagers & young adults, a reader of that age group might find it more interesting. The problem I faced was not able to connect with the characters. There is a romantic plot on the sideline and I did not enjoy it.
I didn’t really know what I expected from this book. It’s a very quick read, the drama is fast-paced and there are a lot of twists and turns I didn’t expect; however there was something off with the flow of events, I felt it was quite jumpy at times.
As it’s the first of a series you don’t find out what happens to the characters which was a bit frustrating, but I’m sure all will be revealed in the next book.
Amazing read!!! OMG!!! This was an insane story and I wasn’t quite sure what to expect when I started reading it. But OMG what an insane ride it took me on. The book had me on the edge of my seat from the beginning and the cliff hangers had me glued right till the end. I can’t wait to read the next in the series. If you haven’t read it yet, then please do. You will not regret it.
I would rather commit suicide than give in to him.
The last trip to be taken before everyone parts ways for college and the lives that lay afterwards, would quickly turn into a deadly affair that would leave all dead and one wishing she was dead. Three best friends; Aria Cohen, Anya Fernandes, Matt Anderson and his new girlfriend Zoe would embark on a trip that should've stayed in Ohio but ended in Goa, India. As they four would morph into six with the arrivals of Anya's secret boyfriend Kai (Kylar Adams) and his best friend Rylan, it would lead them deep into the secluded woods to a cabin hidden away. Shocked by the charms and modern cabin, the girls were easily swayed that it would be a safe place to spend the trip, while Matt kept his back raised and his skepticism to the boys they hardly knew. Invited into the basement for a party, it would end with Ryla shooting Matt in the stomach leaving him to die a painful and slow death over the days to follow. Horrified and unable to escape, best friends Anya and Aria were locked into a bedroom where they witnessed their friend pass away and their torment to begin. With desires in their shattered hearts of escape, it came as a shocking twist Rylan's obsession towards Aria as his patience started coming undone. With the girls disobedience, he thought to teach Aria a lesson by brutally stabbing Anya to death Infront of her. Pulling away and fighting off his advances seemed worthless, as her heart began aching for Kai and the safety and gentleness he offer her in the weeks to come. Slowly the truth would morph and when she met Clint, the father of Rylan and stepfather to Kai, she would be shocked this was far from the first time, and it was far more calculated that a spur of the moment kidnapping.
“So Aria,” Rylan squatted next to me, a silver revolver in hand, now touching my left cheek as I winced. “Be my girl and see how happy you will be.”
“Oh girl, you shouldn’t have done that,” he snarled, now showing a cut cheek and blood smeared hand. “I’m not in one of my best moods today,” he pushed himself up and grabbed hold of her hair before she struck again.
“You don’t deserve this. I’ll show you what you deserve."
As she gains Kai's affection, she convinced him to help her escape and together they sprint for the road beyond. Shocked by the discovery of Zoe, their traveling companion, she was surprised to learn she too was related to the family of horrors. After being discovered, she was promised her life would be soared on one condition. Join the family, belong to Kai, and assist with the future kidnappings and murders. As the knife was at last handed over to her, she couldn't kill the girl who shared the spotlight in Rylan's life and resisted him. As she took the punishment, she couldn't block the video of the funeral from her mind where her parents grieved for the daughter who was very much still alive.
“Hate me how much you want but don’t fall in love with me.”
This story is about three friends Aria, Matt and Anya, who decide to go camping in India. Matt brings his self-absorbed girlfriend and Anya has her new boyfriend Kai and his friend Rylan to meet up with them. Rylan suggests they go to his cabin for the night. Aria's instinct tells her something is off about the whole situation. Then the horror begins. This has a very good storyline but I felt the characters were not built up enough to be truly likable. There was not any character that I really felt anything for. There were several grammar issues that I found distracting. All in all, it is a good YA read. I received this copy free for my honest review.
Four friends from Ohio decide to go on a camping trip in the Indian forests of Dandeli before they all go their separate ways to college. But when the weather leads to an unplanned detour and the group is joined by two strangers the trip takes an unexpected turn. They are invited to spend the weekend at a cabin owned by a friend of one of the new arrivals, as secrets are uncovered, and a sinister plan unfolds it becomes a weekend that never ends. I should preface this review by stating that I was asked by the author to provide an honest review and therefore I shall. I am not very familiar to the thriller genre and therefore to not have much to compare in terms of writing quality however instead I will point out certain items that were problematic for me as a reader in general. When reading the summary and the first sentences of this book we are told the setting is meant to be a cabin in the forests of Dandeli, India. On issue I had with the story and descriptions is that you essentially forget this detail as the story progresses. They teens could literally be in a cabin in the woods anywhere. I was under the impression initially that the location would play a bigger role other than just unfamiliar territory for the main characters. To continue, would be the timeline or rather the progression of the storyline. Things seem to escalate quickly initially and then suddenly everything stalls and stays that way for the remainder of the book. And one of my biggest issues with this book is the “romance” storyline, at first you think oh potential love triangle chance encounter. But it becomes what in my mind can only be described as a case of Stockholm Syndrome that is trying to be presented as a soulmate pairing. It is by far the most problematic storyline just none it made sense. The conclusion of this story left so many questions. I understand that thriller books should leave the reader guessing but that it was not what this was. It was not a cliff hanger ending, it was more of a so they just gave up and accepted that this is their new life now the end. The motivations behind everything where somewhat explained, but it doesn’t make sense why it all had to take place in Dandeli if all individuals were also in the US. The international trip just seemed like an extra step to get to the goal that was complicated enough with the kidnapping, murder and hostage taking of a bunch of teenagers.
