An open end? Nooooooo! Open ends drive me nuts, but if the author decides to torture us like that, what can you do? 🤔😉 My not so favorite thing first: I am not a big fan of using bad language or using the Lords name in vain, but it is spread throughout the book and not constant and doesn’t take away from the story. (Plus, it is just my personal preference and just because I don’t like something, doesn’t mean others won’t.) Now the awesome stuff about the book: The story is interesting and keeps

Protecting Tova is an awesome debut book. I received an ARC for an honest review. Wilder did a superb job creating what the world could look like after a Dust Pandemic kills most of the population. The story focuses on a young girl, by the name of Tova and the journey that brings love, self discovery and peaceful sleep into her life. Not everything in Tova's life has been pretty or easy, but she finds the strength to keep her head above water and survive.

Havana Wilder's debut novel transports you to a magical world where dramatic love and intense danger are everyday situations. I loved her world building, and the detail she put into each of her characters - you felt like you could really know them as friends. And don't even get me started on Pierce - where can I find one? The pacing was excellent, and the ending leaves you eager for book two.

I loved this book and I am so excited about the next one in April. If you like new age and romance this book is for you. Tova is super tough and her story is great. I could not put this book down from the beginning. Romance, Suspense, thriller all in one. Excited this is a series and already pre ordered the next one.

⭐Protecting Tova is the first book under the Iron Mountain Series. And the book truly gives you a ‘this is just the beginning’ feeling. Havana Wilder has successfully managed to keep the balance between the romance and fantasy elements in this book. Right when you think that this is going to be another fantasy romance, she switches it to a fantasy thriller. But what I really loved is the concept of the apocalyptic 'Dust' that wiped out most of the world population and "changed" the survivors. I

Where in the world do I even begin! This book is an absolute amazing read. Havana Wilder, has done an amazing job writing this story. The characters are perfectly written. The Plot is amazing. I felt like I couldn't get enough. It has been a long time since I have truly enjoyed reading a book this much. I love reading romance novels but the one thing I don't like, is how they drag out the main characters love story. BUT, Havana she got right to it and I was so happy! It gave more time to the act

I could not put this book down. Tons of character and world development. Such a great first book and I personally can’t wait for the second book to be released to see where these characters lives take them. The story line has a sweet and savory pull. You have the heart filled relationships aspect, as well as, a heroin battling her demons and feeling comfortable in her own skin aspect in one story. Definitely a first love sweetness that pulled me in and brought all the feels that makes you fall i

Enjoyable start to a new series.
This was an entertaining new dystopian romance read with some action and suspense.
Tova was a sassy, strong heroine with a tragic past who came into her powers eloquently.
Pierce was a worthy and protective hero with a lovable family.
I enjoyed their fun banter, their instant attraction, the friendships they held, and the obstacles they overcame together.
I look forward to the next book in the series.

This was a really great Debut, with a unique take on the Dystopian theme, combing a perfect blend of action, adventure, romance, and both internal and external exploration and discovery. And while it definitely has those Dystopian, and even some Fantasy elements, it is at its heart a Love story, both romantic and of the friendship/familial variety. It's also about hope and healing and deals with some PTSD elements (and dealing with them in a healthy way with a good support system around you). To

Protecting Tova was a wild, insta-love, action packed ride! I loved guessing where the story was going to take me and wondering what was going to happen to each individual character along the way. Tova is a strong female lead with past traumas that she desperately wants to escape, and thankfully Pierce, a fierce protector, is there to coax her through them.

Very disappointed
I dont even know where to start. •••••SPOILER ALERT•••••This book was a total disappointment. The concept was awesome so when I began it started off great Pierce and Nova meeting her getting shot it started off so great then when it came to their developing relationship it started out tumultuous, very immature Nova went from a strong woman to a whiny 18 yo then straight to let’s get married. Then to who was after her to more wedding stuff to getting shot at it was just so broke ...more

Long-winded
This was long. Dialogue was not engaging and it seemed to take forever just to get to a point. This read as an older teen romance that happens to be set in a post-apocalyptic world. Overall the whole thing needed to be trimmed down, the romance needed some umph, and I seriously need to know why there were random scenic pictures instead of the characters' portraits. I won't be continuing this but if the author ever has recent work I'll check it out to see if anything is different. ...more

Protecting Tova is the first installment in the Iron Mountain Series. Wilder had me hooked right from the start with her clever mix of romance and dystopian fantasy elements. I was particularly fascinated with her depiction of what the world might look like after a dust pandemic wipes out the majority of the population. The story centres around a young woman named Tova who is on a journey self discovery whereby she also seeks love and peace. A wonderful and imaginative read. Bravo!

I absolutely loved this book!
“Protecting Tova” is a dark dystopian fantasy tale that will leave you breathless. The main character Tova is fighting to rise above the abuse and nightmares of her youth to become the strong woman she needs to be to survive. This is a surprisingly good tale and I highly recommend this fast-paced adventure.

This world Tova is living in is super interesting but I felt like there was too many things about it kept from you and you learned things too slowly. I felt like I was in a CW supernatural shoe heavy on the teen romance. At the end finally things get intriguing yet I was like I thought he was in the past what the hell. It took me by surprise but not in a good way and then the book ended. I'm not a fan of cliffhangers but I can handle them if the book has me hooked but this just annoyed me.

Protecting Tova is usually the type of books I go for but unlike other heroines, Tova's strength comes from childhood trauma which I did not expect.
The two-point of view was also new to me and I loved it. It allowed me to connect with the two protagonists better.
The story is adventurous, dramatic and sweet at the same time.

CW: Abuse
I enjoyed reading the book from the perspective of both Tova & Pierce and how they view each other. I found it refreshing that even though Tova is an abuse victim, she has cowarded away from life in most aspects and you can tell she has an unbeatable inner strength that can't help but root for. The book allows the reader to watch the two main characters' relationship flourish without a large amount of struggle. Not to say this is a happily ever after, because it definitely isn't (at lea ...more
