Okay lets NOT call it
a mere A prequel to Color Me Red

For me This is a standalone novella and
league of it's own.
It doesn't require to fall under any sort of category.

Again I am surprised I loved this book so damn much. I was quite hesitant with the idea of Reading about Red's parents Romance like a judgemental kid I am 😑 but here I am ready to give my Standing ovation to this incredible book bcz Almighty knows it deserves

Oh my! Parts of this book broke my heart! I’m not easily impressed, but Beena has such a beautiful writing style, it’s impossible not to love her books! ❤️ And this one was no exception. I fell in love with this novella. It was so cute and innocent. And I loved how Beena continued to add Farsi/Urdu words in the story. Just like I read about Red and Kabir’s word of endearment “azizam”, in this case we had “joonam” which I loved e

THE FLAME MUST BURN is a novella of Red's parents. One of the main characters in the series. It could be read as a standalone. This is the story of her maman and baba met. Two star-crossed people from different cultures. It's a literary new adult small-town college multicultural and interracial romance, romantic comedy + suspense/mystery, women's fiction book. Yeah. It's a lot for a 150-page book.

“You know funny guys are dangerous,” she said.
He arched an eyebrow at her and asked, “Why?”

This book was quite different to any I’ve read before. It was sweet and beautiful.

Ryder/Rehan whom is Pakistani was born and raised in Canada. One day on the beach he sees the most beautiful girl he’s ever seen. What a surprise to find out they have the same class at the University.

Cyrah who was born and raised in Iran is given a scholarship to travel abroad to Dale University in Canada to study English Literature. Although her father who is very traditional didn’t want her to go he relented.
Ryder (Rehan) Bajwa and Cyrah Maazardaani is a forbidden romance.
It's a culture romance two different people from different beliefs. It's a short sweet romamce with a twist I did not see coming!

I love the poems that they write for each other at the begin of their relationship. Loved learning about Cyrah life back in Iran and how she compares to her new life for two months it to Canada. Ryder have her the confidence to open up and the wisdom from her mother to find her flame. Which she did 💖

This was a wonderful read that kept me wanting to read. Why? Because I never knew what was coming next. I went into this thinking it was going to be a new adult, small-town university novel (because I never read Color Me Red, and I had no clue this was a series). Was I ever in for a surprise, a very nice surprise, I must add.

This very realistic novel is by Beena Khan, a very young author from Pakistan based in New York. Being a Pakistani it made me so happy that another fellow is making her name in the world of authors with such a great writing style and stories. I haven’t read her debut novel yet but I have seen great reviews on that and it’s in my TBR already. While reading “The Flame Must Burn” I was feeling so many emotions all at once. It has cute young romance, a pragmatic story, a lesson for parents or in fac ...more

Wow what a divine and heartfelt read! 😍 So beautifully written and it just made me smile throughout and abit of heartbreak in between! Love how insightful this was with different cultures mixed in, tells us how in other country it was like there compare to the settings in the beginning. Cyrah is from Iran and Ryder was born and raised in Canada but him and his parents are Pakistani. I never read diverse races mixed with romance but this was beautiful. The sweetness and oozing passion was just bu ...more

This is my first book of Beena’s that I have read. I really enjoyed the book. I feel this is a stand alone not a novella giving us sneak peek of what’s to come. Considering I haven’t read any of her other books, I was not lost at all. I had no idea what was to come, but am pleasantly surprised. We have two people from totally different cultures who meet in a small town where they attend collage. When Ryder sees Cyrah for the first time he is mesmerized. He knows he must get to know her. But Cyra ...more

Cyrah is from a very conservative and traditional middle eastern family. She goes on a foreign exchange program to this small beach town, where she meets Ryder. As their love blooms through letters Cyrah and Ryder must face the reality of traditions and duty in the middle eastern world.
This book is a twist on a forbidden romance with an added dash of culture and heroics. For a debut author I thought this book was very well executed. The writing s

I received a free ARC from Beena Khan for the promise of an honest review.

I will say that it took awhile for me to read this novella. I loved the story of Red. I was satisfied with her and Kabir's story. I had closure and this reopened the wounds of Red's life.

The novella is the telling of Red's parents and how they met. Ryder and Cyrah are from different cultures. Ryder, even though he is Pakistani, is very Westetnized. Cyrah is Iranian and from a small village. Cyrah is given a chance to stud

I absolutely loved this story! This is my first read from Beena Khan and definitely won’t be my last. I was so intrigued by Rehan and Cyrah’s story and love.
I wasn’t sure what to expect after the first chapter and thought the story would be a little cheesy but I was absolutely wrong! By the second chapter I was all in and intrigued. Not only did I get to learn about how different cultures deal with marriage and romance but I also got a bit of some action and suspense! I was captivated and on m

Thank you Beena for an advanced copy. You completely caught me off guard as I didn't know you were also working on a novella.

I read this book in one sit (excluding the times I was chasing my naughty kitten :)) I loved getting to know Red's background through her parents.

This time we're traveling 1991 Canada and Iran. Beena, as usual, is not falling short by delivering the cultural diversity and background. Cyrah is in Canada as an exchange student, when she meets with charming Ryder. These two

Cyrah is in for a shock when she comes to America. She is a bit over her head and decides hiding in plain sight would do the trick.

Ryder noticed the beautiful woman and his notes to her are too cute. For what we are supposed to see as a bad boy - he does a great job of being a gentleman. He's her hero, she just don't know the full scope of it yet.

These two might be supposed to world's apart but it was clear they meant to be and nothing is going to stop that. I received an ARC for an honest and v

I had the opportunity to receive a copy of this book from the author but all opinions are my own.

“The Flame Must Burn” is part of the Red Series (it follows Ryder and Cyrah in their youth) but it can be read on its own without missing anything.

This book is both a love story and a story of growth. Seeing Cyrah’s journey to emotional and physical freedom, seeing her demonstrate her strength and growth and fight for her right to make her own decisions, was one of the things that I loved the most i

I loved Cyrah's story in The Flame Must Burn. It is only about one hundred thirty pages long and can easily be read in an hour or so. I really enjoyed it and am giving it four and a half stars.

The book is a good small town romantic suspense read. The story has a good story line. The characters are good, and they have good chemistry.

I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.

This is a story about first love. Burning love. True love.

Don’t do anything to shame us. Good girls don’t smile at guys.

Cyrah is so much stronger than she thinks. Although she lives by her families beliefs and traditions, she insisted on taking a summer course in a different country where her promises to her father are challenged every day. When she meets the sweet and gentle, Ryder, her defenses are gradually worn down. He gives her confidence, he respects her as a woman, and he loves her. Love
