This was.. fine. Not my favorite from the author, but it could be due to the fact that nothing much happens here and this novella is mainly a set up for the new series, which leaves it tough to stand on its own. Still very excited to try out Indigo Ridge!

I thought this was a cute intro to the series and a really charming Christmas novella. It was a bit cheesy towards the end but overall I really liked it. I am excited for what’s to come.

The first of a new series that'll be set in Quincy Montana featuring the Edens. Daughter of a billionaire,bakery owner Cleo has had enough of her father's and stepmother's extravagant idea of a Christmas party and decides to spend Christmas her way.....by escaping to Quincy for three days by herself......only her father and her family's security specialist have other ideas.
Austin has wanted Cleo for years but his company is still new and depends on her father's business to survive, as such he's made it a habit of getting Cleo to dislike him but when she refuses to go home he decides to stay with her and the time together shows him that he'll risk anything to have her.

Meh! Absolutely meh! According to my kindle this book had 132 pages I think, and for about 80 pages these 2 "hated" each other! He couldn't be with her so he was an asshole for the majority of the book??!!!! Ummmmm what??? Then...... lol listen it's too early in the year...... They finally kiss and of course he realises that he's in love with her.....so the very reason that he pushed her away for so long goes flying out the window in the blink of an eye! Suddenly.....I mean SUDDENLY his firm, his employees and his kid brother aren't important enough to get him to give his woman up!!!! Ha you weren't saying that 3 pages ago buddy! She of course had a crush on him all along so she's ecstatic he's droped the assholery.
This didn't work for ME but there are a lot of positive reviews so to each their own.

There was a line I highlighted that implied to me he'd dated in the time he'd been "in love" with her but I also read a review that said he was celibate during those years so idk
To me it was also implied that she dated but it's confirmed that she didn't actually have sex.....since ya know she's had a crush on her bodyguard all along

by the time i read this, i have already read book 1-4. so for some reason, i thought this was going to be about the Eden parents lol. its actually a Christmas bodyguard romance novella between one of the guests in the Eloise Inn & her bodyguard.
the H & h had some good banter. it was fun seeing the H struggle to control his attraction towards the h while trying to maintain professionalism. meanwhile, the h thinks that the H hates her bcs hes always so rude/mean/indifferent to her. the tension was there. however, once they finally got together, it just didnt seem as interesting.
we are also introduced to the Edens. as a romance, this was cute; but as a prequel, it was unnecessary imo cuz the siblings personalities didnt really shine/captivate. like, i dont think this would automatically make you wanna jump into their books.
(read as an audiobook)

This was such a cute and cozy Christmas novella! I really enjoyed this bodyguard romance that took place in Quincy at the Inn the Eden family owns. The heroine sneaks away and wants to spend Christmas away, but her father is furious and sends his security after her. The bodyguard, though, has been in love with the heroine for awhile but has acted like he's hated her so that he could resist her and keep his job. The two have to share a room because she refuses to leave, and they end up admitting their feelings. I do wish we got even a flashback to the past to see their connection from before the book started. I just wanted a bit more time with them pining for one another because, without that, it felt just a bit insta-love. But the setting was perfect and I loved reading this novella!

A very cute Christmas bodyguard romance novella! I was sad that the ending was a bit rushed because I loved the couple but it’s always a great time being back in Quincy and seeing some familiar faces. 💛

This was my first Devney Perry book. It went be my last. I've been wanting to read this series, and since it's Christmas book season, this was a great way to start. Cleo and Austin were great characters. I would love more of them. Devney Perry's writing wasn't superb, but the writing was very relatable. It was an adjustment at first, but I quickly realized the writing was in a way that we often speak so the writing flowed easily in my head.
I hope Quincy Montana is a real place because I'd love to go.

Synopsis:
Escaping from the traditional extravagant holiday party her father throws every year, Cloe finds herself in Quincy, Montana looking forward to some peace and quiet. Unfortunately Cloe’s father is not happy she’s ditching the party and has sent the head of his security company to retrieve her and bring her back to California so she can attend the party.
Austin has masked his attraction to his client’s daughter by insulting her and keeping his distance. Cloe is convinced Austin can’t stand her so when he shows up in Montana the animosity and irritation shines through. However, buried under those surface emotions are the real feelings they’ve been hiding and Montana seems to be the perfect place to stop fighting their attraction.

Austin: age: 33, owner of Garrison Security
- has had a secret crush on Cloe for years
- His firefighter dad died when he was 3, so he’s been raised by his mom (who’s a nurse). He has a great relationship with her and is a sweet son. He even wears pizza socks...🥰 ”My eyes darted to his socks as he lifted his feet onto the bed. “Are those pizza socks?”
- “Yeah,” he muttered, flipping off the light on his side of the room. “My mom bought them for me.”
- Heart. Melt. He wore dorky socks because they were a gift from his mother.”
Cloe: age: 28, owner of Crumbs bakery
- She comes from money and is used to people using her to get to her tech mogul dad
- Her dad promised no more bodyguards but lied and has been secretly monitoring her for months. For years, I’d put up with the bodyguards lurking around every corner. I’d humored Dad’s safety demands. After what had happened to my mother, I understood his concerns.”
- “Dad had promised he wouldn’t have me followed. He’d promised. So much for honesty.“
I liked Cloe and Austin. They had some good “I really can’t stand you” banter and the sexual tension was obvious. It’s a short story, so there wasn’t a huge amount of depth and that was ok for me. I found it entertaining and a cute little holiday read with a nice HEA.

Не зовсім зрозуміла для чого було розпочинати серію про сімʼю Іденів з історії Клео, яка не має прямого відношення до цієї родини. Так, її буде згаданого в другій книзі, але все одно не розумію.
Дуже коротко, без детального розкриття персонажів. Новела про те, як через нерішучість двоє людей кохали один одного роками і не могли в цьому зізнатись, але одні вихідні в прекрасному Квісні кардинально змінили їхнє життя.
Як на мене краще було зробити окрему книгу не присвячену серії про Іденів

Austin & Cleo were freaking adorable and the little look we get into Quincy, Montana just makes me that much more excited for the first novel in the Edens series.
Deveny Perry's novellas always contain multitudes just as her stories do and this one was no different. The only complaint I have is that I wanted to much more of Cleo & Austin. Here's to hoping we will see them in Indigo Ridge!!

Cleo, babasının aşırı korumacı tavrından ve abartılı Noel kutlamalarından bunalmıştır. Hem biraz dinlenmek hemde ufak bir kaçış için Quincy, Eloise Inn'e gider. Babası ile yaşadığı tartışmalı telefondan sonra kapısında hiç beklemediği birini bulur. Hem sevdiği hemde nefret ettiği Austin Myles...
Austin'in güvenlik şirketi vardır ve Cleo'nun babasıda bu güvenlik işlerinden faydalanır. Kızının biran önce geri dönmesine eşlik etmesi için de Austin Quincy'e gider. Elveda sıcak Noel tatili ve merhaba bir mont bile almayı düşünmediği Montana kışı... Bir de Cleo meselesi vardır. İlk gördüğü andan beri hoşlandığı ama işleri profesyonel tutmak için nötr davrandığı Cleo...
Kısa bir hikaye için iyi yazılmış sahnelerdi. Uzun metrajlı da yazılabilirdi. Hemen okunan, çabuk akan bir kurgu. Çok da gerekli değil okunması ama çerezlik niyetine iyi gider.
Indigo Dağı'nda da benzer bir sahne vardı ve bu çok hoşuma gitti. Kadın karakterin çalışırken, erkek karakterin çocuklara bakması. 🙈 Bence bu çok sevimliydi 😁

0. Перечитую цю книгу більш ніж через рік і не розумію одного, як я могла так низько її оцінити?
Можливо через те, що на той момент мені нічого не було відомо про родину Іденів. Можливо ця історія однієї сім'ї була надто затягнутою, а мені хотілося більше любовної лінії про Клео і Остіна.
На цей раз я читала з великою посмішкою на вустах. От наші рідні знайомі герої, - тут тобі і Елоїза з рестораном, і вправний брат-кухар, Матео, і сестра з пекарнею. У другій книзі Нокс згадував Клео, а тут вони тільки знайомляться. Затишне маленьке містечко Квінсі, давним-давно засноване родиною Іденів.
🐑 Клео Гіллкрест, донька технологічного магната, вперше за довгий час бере відпустку у своїй кондитерській і втікає на Різдво до маленького містечка в Монтану. Але той самий батько-мільярдер посилає за нею свою людину, охоронця.
🐻 Остін - великий злобний тридцятирічний охоронець, який носить шкарпетки з принтами, які дарує йому його мама (so cuuute) і вже як чотири роки закоханий у доньку свого боса. Грубо з нею поводиться, що мені не дуже до вподоби, але якби не це, то де б ми і троп «від ненависті до кохання» зараз знаходилися?
💌 Дуже і дуже мило. Різдвяна атмосфера, маленькі крамнички з подарунками, сніг, вечори біля каміну, один номер на двох.
Все відбувалося швидко, як зазвичай це і відбувається в таких коротких новелах, але гармонійно. Однозначно сподобалося!
«Я взяв її руку і підніс кісточки пальців до губ, якраз, коли під'їхав автобус. Ми повернемося в Квінсі, у цьому я не сумнівався.

Gostei imenso. Fiquei com pena de ser tão curto. Gostava que a autora tivesse feito um livro deste casal. Soube a pouco e não consigo dar 4 porque foi tudo muito rápido.
Either way, a escrita da Devney Perry continua excelente.
