Will Lucille be able to save her cozy neighborhood of Harriet's Cove or will everything go up in flames?
Surely, Lucille has a humongous task on her hand. Her success or failure to convince the powers that be to grant the seemingly bizarre request of her "unwelcome guests" will directly affect the life of every resident of her beloved Harriet's Cove. And as daunting a task as it is, she believes the said request is not unreasonable, but actually well deserved. Yet, how does one elderly, blind woman accomplish such a mission when the forces out there are clearly against her, placing her mercilessly between the proverbial rock and a hard place?
Tanya R. Taylor is the author of both fiction and non-fiction literature, including two #1 bestsellers on Amazon - 'Cornelius' and the 'INFESTATION: A Small Town Nightmare' series. She writes in various genres including: Paranormal romance, science fiction, mystery and suspense.
Lucille is such a wonderful and feisty character. Tanya R Taylor tells her stories well. Still the end was unexpected. So sorry that we’ve lost one of the “family” so to speak. I’m looking forward to finding out how this is resolved. If you like cozy mysteries with wonderful characters, this series is for you. I highly recommend the complete series.
Taylor has written another cute mystery!! The real mystery is how she manages to put a very thought provoking message with the story.
Note: This review contains a soapbox at end that author knew I was going to write but not content!!!
Lucy with her unique visionhas a another message from the Indians. She has a short time frame to comply with their wishes or her community goes up in flames. (Title of Book so not giving away much here.)
The mystery is will she get it done and his. What will it take? Will she get it done in time?
You will note that I said INDIANS. I started correct this but the realized that Native American would only apply to the USA. This book will be read across the world. I approve the author's use of NATIVE INDIAN. I personally do not know what is the proper language to use in other countries, since every country has it's people who were there before the settlers came. This is a perfect compromise for the story
Easy to read mystery. Note that it does start right where the previous book left off. You can read as a standalone but go back and get caught up.
SOAPBOX: Note read book in October 2020. Cultural unrest and political election chaos, society unrest and WORLD PANDEMIC!! Giving background for those reading this years later for reference point.
As stated above, the author uses the term Indian. Here in the USA, the Native Indians have been treated horribly and no one sat or does anything. They were the first. They were given blankets with small pox, massacred, taken from their prosperous lands and move to land that is useless. Even their culture was taken from them : look at the disrespect in regards to how lied to about how their blood was used against their beliefs. They currently live on reservations with very substandard housing, no jobs and no medical care!!! NO ONE GIVES A DAMN ABOUT THEM!!! So why are we not helping them!!! They are not creating havoc with their protests!!
A current movement thinks they have it bad. They have access to housing, jobs and medical care. The Indians do not!!!!!
Look at history and what happened with the Jewish population . History repeating itself. What about other. Cultures around the World.
Social unrest with all the protests. I have problems with it now. The movement has given itself a bad name because it allows looters. It has opportunity to give videos to those trying to do their JOB. Looters are not just giving your message a bad name but doing damage to everyone. The business that they damage have to pay for that stuff, so when they open again prices will rise to cover cost. Due to Covid Pandemic, people are out of work and have little money. So who can afford the increase in prices? It hurts not only the business, but people in the area, and society. More importantly it hurts your love ones most of all. all this because it is creating an economic depression. They may not be happy with the people doing their JOB, but what are they actually doing to make it better. As an elder black man( 80+ years old) said to me: Martin Luther King protested, did it PEACEFULLY, and accomplished things!!
Here is a thought: in stead of say I g that something is wrong and want change give some thought and give a p!An that goes from A to Z: what is wrong and how to make changes to achieve end goal. Also next time see looters , etc, be part of the Good help your message and make changes!!!!
ALL LIFE MATTERS!!!!! ALL LIFE MATTERS!!!!! ALL LIFE MATTERS!!!!!
Next time interacting with someone, close your eyes and SEE the person. The only difference between people is the amount of melonin in the skin. We all bleed red blood!!!! (Unless you are a 'Purple People Eater ' like me.)
This is my honest and freely given review. I did receive an BETA /ARC book.
I apologize for the lateness of this but I needed to give the soapbox time to be reasonable tone.
Blind Flames - Book 5 Lucille Pfiffer Mystery Series” by Tanya R. Taylor is a tale of one Lucille Pfiffer a highly motivated & determined elderly, blind woman...who along with her precious canine Nilla...undergo an almost impossible task ...to quell the anger of “unsettled spirits” ...protect her own home and the rest of her beloved Harriet's Cove from destruction.. .taking on the cities’ Mayor and the rest of City Hall in the process. The spirits in question’s request is a simple one ...however decades of corruption and greed...complicate the endeavor. Can Lucille successfully fight City Hall to save the day...making everyone content.... especially on such a tight deadline?!? Read and see. Much enjoyed and Highly Recommended. I voluntarily reviewed an Advanced Copies of each individual book.
I enjoyed reading Blind Flames by Tanya R. Taylor. It is part of a series about Lucille Pfiffer, who is blind but she has "inner vision" that allows her to "see". She sees ghosts and tries to help them in their afterlife. This episode deals with the former inhabitants of the town of Harriet's Cove, whose land was taken from them and they were massacred. These American Indians are seeking an apology from the town's mayor and it is Lucille's task to have him apologize and erect a statue in their honor. All this must happen or the Indian Ghosts will burn the town and all the houses in it. Can Lucille convince the Mayor to apologize?
This is a different twist on a cozy mystery. It has ghosts, murder, suspense and wonderful characters. I received an advance reader copy of this book and I always review every book that I read. I recommend this one and the entire series.
"I thought we were family. Family don’t keep secrets from one another.”
This time without Merlene as her sidekick, Lucille Velma Abigail Pfiffer is aware that time is running out for the residents of Harriett's Cove if the powers that be can't be persuaded to apologize for the past and move forward with a spirit of harmony.
At times it seems that she knows everyone in town, and what she knows she knows someone who might. Will the results bring closure? Or seed more trouble?
This serial novel with more twists and turns than a mintour' s maze, grabs you and just won't let go. I can hardly wait to see what's going to happen! Highly recommended 5/5
[Disclaimer: I received this book from the author and voluntarily read and reviewed it]
Merlene is still recovering from her kidnapping but that does not stop Lucille Pfiffer from trying to save her beloved community from the anger of the Native American ghosts. She only has one week to meet their demands and the mayor is not cooperating at all. Without Merlene, Lucille will have to rely on help from Nilla and her other friends.
This is the fifth book in the very enjoyable Lucille Pfeiffer Series. Lucille is a feisty lady and her interactions with the other residents of Harriet’s Cove always keep her stories on my TBR list. I received an advance copy of the book but my review is honest and voluntary.
The author continues to provide the reader with a captivating, page-turning, and edge-on-your-seat narrative. Some cherished and hunting characters are back. No nonsense Lucille Pfiffer wants the Mayor to make a public apology and erect a monument honoring the earliest inhabitants who were enslaved and whose land was stolen. When a shocking event occurs, the plot begins to move in a different direction, exposing more secrets and lies, and retribution, building up to an ending, which I never saw coming.
As usual the author brings the prognostic, Lucille Pfeiffer, to life. A fiesty old lady that is ahum "blind" (she isn't really blind but pretends to be). In this story she helps save her neighbors and her own home from fire. Was she successful or did everyone's homes get burned down by the "ghost" of American Indians? Read this latest installment of Lucille Pfeiffer and her friends. Can't wait for the next book.
I was lucky to have an advanced copy of this book (It's really hard to wait for them to come out). Lucille manages to save the neighborhood and placate the Indian ghosts which had threatened them with total destruction by fire. The indian ghosts had a very specific cost to stopping their plans and the mayor is adament he will never conceed to their wishes.
Lucille and Nilla are back fighting against injustice. Lucille has been told that the spirits of Native Indians, who are haunting her home, are going to burn her home, and those of her neighbours, unless an apology for the theft of their land, and a monument were in place by Friday. Lucille and her friends find themselves racing against time. Great characters.
Lucille needs a lot of help from her friends and neighbors to save their neighborhood. Getting the mayor to help needed some arm twisting or maybe a little bit of something else. Then there's the murder. More mystery fun and now we will need book 6 to get closure.
Lucille Pfiffer as a gift, and after seeing a vision of upset Native Americans and they give her a warning. After some of her neighbors verify the vision too, Lucille approaches the Mayor to satisfy the request and after he turns her down she connects with a friend who happens to know a secret. Another great story by Tanya R. Taylor!
Lucille solves the case with the help of her dog Vanilla and her friends. Lucille is blind. I thought the book was excellent. I look forward to reading more of the series. I received a free copy of this book.
Lucille had never realized that the Indians around Sir Clements are the next people she would get involved with. Because of her involvement she loses a good friend.
This is the first book I read in this series and must agree it is interesting. I found Lucille to be a very likable character. Even though she's blind yet she can still see is great.
Another entertaining story in this series, poor Anthony doesn't have much luck in the love department does he? Come on Tanya, give the guy a break 🙂 Looking forward to the next installment.
I love this series about this active older woman with her friends helping and supporting each other. This is always a cliff hanger to give a clue to the next book in the series.
Lucille Velma Abigail Pfiffer is being called on to save her home (and this time her neighbourhood too), in Tanya R. Taylor's latest novel in Book 5 of her endearing Lucille Pfiffer Mystery series, Blind Flames, after the terrifying vision of a devastating fire leaves her trembling.
Reluctance to worry her nearest and dearest, means Lucille must call on more unusual assistance to prevent a catastrophe of epic proportions. A petition to try and sway the mayor into backing Lucille's campaign is drawn up and duly signed by the majority - but Mayor Bradley still doesn't want to know - until she comes up with Plan D!
What will happen next? Who's the anonymous whistleblower? Has someone in Harriet's Cove taken revenge?
A thrilling whodunnit with supernatural overtones, starring Lucille Pfiffer as a Miss Marple-like sleuth, in a 'Murder She Wrote'-type scenario-with-a-twist, Queen of Supernatural Suspense Tanya R Taylor's amazing Blind Flames is not to be missed this Halloween.
Hop on your broomstick and pop on your cloak before flitting off to spirit away your spookily spell-binding copy today - you'll go 'batty' til you do!
My first read by this author, but certainly not my last. Well developed characters, fun plot to follow and an ending to die for! Very pleasant becoming acquainted with Lucille and Nilla. Looking forward to more.
