I read this one straight through over the course of the last few months and am glad I did. The scope of poetry covered in this book is extremely broad, and while some of the poems are well knows, many (even from known authors) are not. The Table of Poems at the beginning and the introduction to each section offer the reader biographical information on each author (including connections to the others) and lays out many of the acrostics and plays on words that exist in the original and may not be easily evident to the English speaking audience. Each poem is presented in Hebrew and English. Excellent index in the back including both titles in English and first words in Hebrew. Recommended for anyone with an interest in poetry or in Jewish Studies. Great springboard to other works by poets included, good Bibliography.
