Olivia Hayes is a social media lifestyle guru with many followers. She is very successful, lives in gorgeous Annersley House in Cheshire and she seems to have it all. However, all is not what it seems as Olivia has a past tragedy which hangs over her and her Instagram perfect marriage to Josh in reality is strained. Nicky Wilson is a ghost writer, financially strapped, a bit of a fashion mess and in much need of a haircut and is hired to write Olivia’s autobiography. Nicky wants it to be a tell ...more

The reviews for this book are all over the place, which made me a bit weary. I’m glad I went with it!

Olivia is a wife and mother. She is also an influencer, someone whose made tons of money for sharing pictures of her life to her many adoring fans via Instagram. Nicky is a ghostwriter who is tasked with writing Olivia’s autobiography. She stays at Olivia’s house for a week so that she can interview her and get all she needs to shape the book. However, it seems that Olivia doesn’t want to talk a

Meh.

You Can Trust Me never really came together for me in a way which anchored me to the story. I didn't find the premise particularly well plotted, and the layout felt clunky.

Told from two points of view, the first half the book encompassed Nicky's story, while the second half belonged to Olivia. Nicky's section was frustrating. Why was this girl, this ghostwriter, pushing so hard to get a story from an influencer who obviously wasn't willing to go there? Things became more clear during O

EXCERPT: So that was the official word on the incident: a tragic accident.

And that's it. Almost. There is just one more mention, easy to miss, had I not, out of habit, set the dates as wide as possible for my search, from before the fire to the present day. You never want to overlook any detail.

And that's how I found it, the final link chaining the dead past to this house's living present. It is not a news story but a marriage announcement, dated eight years ago.

Mr J.C. Hayes and Miss O.E. Van

After reading Where the Missing Go by this author last year I was keen to read more. I had read such mixed reviews of You Can Trust Me but I really enjoyed it in the end. It is a twisty and frustrating read at times, with not just one but 2 unreliable narrators to figure out. Nothing is as it seems and it wasn't until towards the end when it started coming together that I appreciated the story for what it was. I do recommend this book, but can see why people have not liked it. I read it in an af ...more

There are two sides to every story. But who is telling the truth?

Nicky is a ghostwriter hired to write Olivia Hayes book. But the more Nicky pushes to learn the truth of who she is the more Olivia withdraws. Why is Olivia so secretive about her past? And why does Nicky seem to care so much? Who really are these women?

Overall a decent enough mystery although a bit disjointed. I honestly didnt care for the characters. None really possessed any amiable traits. I appreciated the many twists the book

As a former ghostwriter, I was predisposed to liking this book. There’s a lot to like here. I particularly liked the difference in the writing styles of the two narrators, the premise, and the good insider ghostwriter gossip. The book also has a good ending and things really pick up by the last third or so.

The first half of the book, told by the ghostwriter Nicky in her own voice, was interesting but moved a little slowly. We aren’t told a lot about the mystery and there are some jump scares but

This was a really fun and well written book with some shocking albeit far fetched twists

Right from the start I was really engaged in this book. It was super easy to read and I was hooked from the very start.

I really liked the concept of this book. I really love books about books or writing in one way or another

There were quite a few twists in this book which I definitely didn't see coming.

They were a bit far fetched and unrealistic. There was one particular scene which I definitely rolled my e

"No one is trying to stop it, though, and no one is coming to help. Someone is watching, though. And now it is time to go."

This book is in three parts. Part one is from the perspective of Nicky, a ghostwriter who works with celebrities, helping them get their past memories into their books. Which is where Olivia comes in.
Olivia is an influencer on Instagram, she shares just enough of her life to keep people interested but never shares anything personal.

I received this book as an ARC from #NetGalley

I struggled a lot. with this one. I wanted to like it, but found it to be very disjointed.

Part One, told from Nicky's perspective, was a very slow burn with what seemed to be a lot of clues but many of them ultimately went no where and only one (kind of sort of) hinted at the big twist.

Part Two, told from Olivia's perspective, was the complete opposite. It included a flurry of information all at once. With tons of exclamation points! All over the pl

I enjoyed Emma Rowley's first book - "Where the missing go" and was excited to read "You can trust me". Both kept me fully entertained and earned 4 stars.

You can trust me is about Nicky, a struggling ghost writer working on a writing a new book about social influencer Olivia. Nicky has been pretty successful as a writer because she digs deep and builds each story around some type of conflict. . Olivia is cold, poised and not giving up any old secrets. Nicky starts doing more research, a late ni

Nicky, a ghostwriter, tells the first half of this tale of secrets. Then Olivia, the woman whose life story she's been hired to write, tells the second half and that when things amp up. Nicky doesn't understand Olivia, a life style guru who wants everyone to see only perfection- they are very different in personality. She does realize, early on at her stay at Olivia's home, that there's something Olivia doesn't want her or anyone else to know. No spoilers from me but know that it's more than a f ...more

Who can you trust when you don’t trust the truth? This is an interesting domestic thriller which starts with a best friends suicide and then her guilt over not realizing her friends despair. So much grief leads Livy to suspect murder and not suicide and is driven to discover the truth which closely resembles the recent death of her sister - are they related?

The first half of You Can Trust Me, told in Nicky's voice, is more of a slow burn, claustrophobic and trickling like a shadow in the corner of the room. I really liked Olivia, and the way the story twisted in the middle was well-timed and brilliantly executed. The pace picks up and kept me up reading into the night. An utterly absorbing novel to escape into. ...more

After reading such mixed reviews with this book I'll admit I was slightly apprehensive of what it would deliver BUT I am so pleased I read it, I really enjoyed it!

Written from the POV's of 2 characters with the odd flip of timelines, it flawlessly flows between the two characters Olivia and Alex.

The twists and turns are fantastically written, just when I thought I had figured it out another bump in the road appeared to swerve me off in another direction.

2 unreliable narrators, a lifestyle influencer and the novel ghostwriter, a past and the new present, a facade and the real truth. Those were the core of this book by author Emma Rowley. The author made me doubt everyone while saying – You Can Trust Me. Could I?
