She can kill with a thought. Gifted with an explosive psychic talent, Geneva Ericksen can’t risk letting Rolf Jorgensen in her life. If she does, she might accidentally kill him. But when Rolf’s sister goes missing, Geneva and her extraordinary abilities may be his only hope to find her.
He’s hiding a deadly secret. Rolf‘s not about to let Geneva slip away from him, even if it means protecting her from his dark gift. As Rolf and Geneva trail his sister, they soon uncover a life-threatening plot: someone is attempting to profit from stealing and trapping their power in crystals.
To outsmart the enemy, it will take all their combined strength. But can they trust each other enough to survive?
CROSS WAVES by Amanda Uhl is the second book in the Mind Hackers paranormal romantic suspense series. Geneva Erickson and Rolf Jorgensen are strong and capable protagonists in this series set mostly in Cleveland, Ohio with forays into Chicago, Illinois and various locations in Arizona. Geneva has a psychic talent that is off the charts and capable of killing others. Rolfe is a psychic hacker with a deadly secret. Can these co-workers learn to work together when Rolf’s sister Julia goes missing? Can they even trust each other? Who is the kidnapper and how did he or she know that Julia was in Arizona?
Geneva and Rolfe are compelling characters and definitely individuals that you can root for. They felt three-dimensional and did distinct flaws that made them feel relatable. Their motivations seemed believable and were well-drawn. Despite their lack of depth, the secondary characters enhanced the story. The dynamic personalities meshed well within the context of the story line. The book’s premise brought a fresh perspective to the paranormal elements. The world-building was clear. The plot has lots of twists and turns, the stakes were high, and the action was fast-paced making this a page-turner. Themes included childhood tragedies, relationships, friendships, kidnapping, murder, family dynamics, love, secrets, lies and much more.
Overall, this was suspenseful and entertaining read with great characters, lots of action, and a powerful ending. If you enjoy well-written paranormal romantic suspense novels, then I recommend checking out the series. This was the first book that I have read by this author, but I am looking forward to reading more in this series.
Thanks to Backlit PR and Amanda Uhl provided a complimentary digital ARC of this novel via Net Galley and the opportunity to provide an honest review. Opinions are mine alone and are not biased in any way. Publication date was October 19, 2020.
Cross Waves by Amanda Uhl is the second book in the Mind Hacker series. I must say, the books just keep getting better.
Peter is in charge of the CMU unit, the US government’s Cognitive Mind Unit, responsible for guarding the minds of scientists and leaders across the world.
Geneva is the most powerful trainer. Trainers aid Hackers while entering the minds from a distance. Every hacker works with a trainer.
Geneva and Rolf are a perfect match, though they both fight working together. Her brothers have no use for him, but his dark reaches for her light.
Now, Rolf’s sister is missing. Geneva has an extraordinary tracking ability, able to read someone’s aura, and is a human lie detector. They will have to work together if they hope to find her. All Rolf’s senses scream danger, but he and Geneva continue on.
The legend of the crystals: some of which were stolen from Geneva’s murdered mother. Julia had a dream talent and dreamt of Geneva’s mother’s murder. She is also Geneva’s best friend and Rolf’s sister.
At times, I worry about the CMU. Are they legit? Do they have an ulterior motive, an agenda of their own? Of course, any secret, clandestine government organization can be corrupted.
I am only half way through and my emotions are getting ramped up. I can’t relax and enjoy the book. I’m too tense, eager to read on, faster, gotta know. I can’t figure out what’s going on. Who is doing what? Who’s good? Who’s bad?
Geneva’s brothers really tick me off…dismissing her. It’s a wonder they don’t get her killed. But, they will sacrifice their lives to keep her safe. Will it come to that? There are more characters that have a role to play, some good and some bad. You will need to read Cross Waves for yourself if you want to know it all. 🙂
But, I will tell you that I love a good villain and we do get to know his thoughts and feelings while he is doing all his badness. I was kept in the dark for a long time about who he was, but I had plenty of time to revel in his badness. A good bad guy makes the story so much more interesting for me.
WOW! I could only quit reading to do the necessities. I quit taking notes and ignored Mr Wonderful and everything else that was going on around me. If Paranormal Romantic Suspense is your cup of tea, this is a must read series.
I voluntarily reviewed a free copy of Cross Waves by Amanda Uhl.
A secret government agency, a brutal murder from the past, two psychically gifted agents and a desperate race to save the innocents of the world from certain death as good and evil collide head on in Amanda Uhl’s CROSS WAVES.
Someone has found the secret to harnessing energy in crystals that can be unleashed in a wave of violence around the world and agents Geneva Ericksen and Rolf Jorgensen must battle their own mutual attraction while keeping their own dark secrets from surfacing. Rolfs’ sister has gone missing and Geneva’s abilities may be the only thing that can save her. Is there a connection between the missing female and the deadly crystals?
Once again, Amanda Uhl has set the stage for intrigue, romance and razor-taut tension with two brilliant characters, a rapid-fire pace and the ultimate evil: the quest for power and wealth. Paranormal abilities, sheer grit and determination fuel this tale further, making for a non-stop reading experience that jumps off the pages from start to finish!
Do you like a world filled with special talents? Characters that make you believe they are real, flawed and yet, perfect for the job they must undertake? It’s all here in the second book of the Mind Hackers series, just waiting to be read!
I received a complimentary ARC edition from Amanda Uhl! This is my honest and voluntary review.

I’ve never read this author before, and I was eager to see if I had found a new author to watch. I started reading and I was immediately drawn into the story. While I’m not a huge fan of the protagonists hiding things from each other, it didn’t bother me too much in this story. I liked both of them, and I really liked the plot of the story. I didn’t need to have read the first book, but now I really want to. Add to that, I’m so anxious to read the next one with Nonna making me want to! Who’s Nonna? Read the book and find out. Highly recommend! I was provided a complimentary copy which I voluntarily reviewed.
When Rolf Jorgensen's sister Julia goes missing he has to partner up with Geneva Ericksen, who's the best tracker and can follow people's energy fields. Rolf's been avoiding her and Geneva thinks he hates her. But Rolf has a dark secret and he'll do anything to keep her safe. When their search for Julia turns into something more sinister Rolf doesn't know how long before his secret is out...
I didn't fully approve of the first book in the series, Mind Waves, but that was mainly because I didn't like the MC David's stalkerish behaviour. With new main characters, but still in the fascinating mind reading world, I really appriciated this book more.
Rolf is protective and trying to keep Geneva at a distance for her own safety. It takes a while before Rolf's dark secret is revealed, but then it's easy to understand why he thinks he has to renounce his feelings for her. Geneva is actually quite tough, but she's been having problems with her powers lately and her self-confidence has taken a dive. It made me frustrated to begin with, but I like her overall attitude for the most part, and how she stands up for Rolf when no one else does.
It's suspenseful to follow Rolf, Geneva and the others when they try to find out who's behind it all, and why. The further I get in the story the harder it is to put down. The short chapters also makes it easy to think "just one more chapter". Now I really look forward to reading the next book in the series! The problem is that it's not written yet...
* I received a free copy of the book from BookSirens and I'm giving my honest review. *
Cross Waves by Amanda Uhl, book two in her Mind Hackers series offers the reader a tale of suspense with a romance within. A secret government agency consists of agents with psychological gifts that allow them to find secrets and alter dimensions within the world. Someone has figured out the secret to harnessing energy inside crystal. This energy can be unleashed in a wave of violence around the world. Agents Geneva Ericksen and Rolf Jorgensen are searching for Rolf’s missing sister, Julia; as Geneva’s abilities may be the only thing that can save her. During the mission to find Julia, they not only discover these strange, synthetic crystals, but encounter numerous obstacles and attacks on them. At the same time, Geneva and Rolf find themselves batting their own mutual attraction while keeping their own dark secrets from surfacing. Geneva and Rolf's chemistry off the charts and the clashing of their abilities could make it dangerous. They are willing to take the chance in order to have a future together. Now they need to figure out how to stay together long enough to find Julia, discover who is behind the attacks on Geneva and locate the stolen crystals.
Ms. Uhl wrote a story that not only built tension between her characters but also the plot as it develops. I was invested in these two from the beginning and enjoyed their development individually as well as a couple. The supporting cast was equally intriguing, adding layers to the story. The suspense factor kept me on the edge of my seat, right up until the end. I highly recommend Cross Waves to other readers and look forward to the next book in this series.
I voluntarily reviewed a complimentary copy of this book.
A cruel murder in cold blood from the past collides with the present in Cross Waves, Mind Hackers Series Book 2. Cross Waves is a psychic romance and like the first book in the series features the U.S. government’s secret Cognitive Mind Unit, the CMU. The characters and the plot stand alone from the first book in the series.
The headquarter of the CMU is in Cleveland, and I enjoyed reading about the sights and sounds of a city that is almost home for me. The story also takes us to Chicago and Arizona. If you look at the dramatic cover of the book you will see the two main characters, Geneva and Rolf. They are both talents in the CMU. Each of their unique psychic abilities enables them to work well together to guard the nation’s cognitive assets, but these same skills threaten the mysterious and powerful connection they have. Can their love and passion connect when their minds won’t allow it? Will Rolf’s dark energy overtake him and kill Geneva?
When two other agents, Julia and Percy are plunged into grave danger, Geneva and Rolf must use their abilities to save them. A fascinating part of the story involves “crystals fabricated to absorb extreme amounts of energy”, which can then kill innocent people all over the world. Who are the good guys and who are evil? This desperate battle to find the source of the crystals also requires the unusual psychic skills of Rolf’s Nonna, which is a fantastic part of the story.
Author Amanda Uhl uses lovely language to vividly and clearly describe the characters’ psychic talents; she makes a complex topic understandable and fascinating. The descriptions are woven into the story so that they increase the thrills and drama. “Words were meaningless. Plenty of people said one thing and meant another. Auras, on the other hand, never lied.” Geneva can see many colors- Julia’s is buttercup yellow, her brother is teal blue, the head of the CMU is amber.
Fast paced, with many amazing characters, this book will have you holding your breathe while you rush to read the next chapter. You will also be breathless from the passion of Geneva and Rolf. I would have liked to have seen more about the personal lives of Geneva and Rolf, but perhaps that’s because I enjoyed them and cared about them so much.
I received an advance review copy from the author. This is my honest review.
Geneva Ericksen is a powerful psychic, so much so, she can kill without touching. She can't risk falling in love or being close to anyone because she just might kill them unintentionally. When her best friend and Rolf's sister go missing, she's tasked with helping Rolf find her. Rolf, the man who despises her and who she still has feelings for. Or does he? His smoldering gazes tell her one thing while his cold words tell her another. She can't be distracted by Rolf, she must find his sister before it's too late. But there's a sinister plot to abduct Geneva and Rolf, transfer their explosive and deadly powers to the crystals before killing. Can Geneva and Rolf combine their strengths and connection to defeat their enemy or will their mistrust of each other only bring pain and death?
Cross Waves is a thrilling paranormal romantic suspense I couldn't put down. From the beginning, I connected with both Geneva and Rolf. It appeared to be an enemies to lovers romance at first but then it turned into something much more intense. Rolf is a hero among heroes. He's conflicted on so many levels, it was fun to watch him squirm. The plot moves at a fast pace with plenty of twists and turns to keep you wondering who the enemy is. I didn't figure out who it was until it was revealed. The romance, though, is what makes this such a wonderful story. There's a lot of obstacles for this couple to overcome but when they do, wow! It's explosive, to say the least. Amanda Uhl is an outstanding writer and her stories are irresistible. I whipped through the pages and stayed up late reading. Yes, it was that good. If you're looking for a paranormal romantic thriller you'll lose sleep over, pick up Cross Waves. Highly recommend!

Cross Waves Mind Hackers Series, Book 2 By: Amanda Uhl Narrated by: Amanda Uhl
Looking for an exciting, mind bending, romantic thriller? Look no further! Amanda Uhl's second book in her Mind Hackers series is just what you are looking for. It does stand alone, but I would definitely listen to book 1 too, as it has a lot of background. We have Rolf, a psychic hacker with a dark secret that needs to stay secret. His sister is missing, and he needs the help of Geneva. Geneva has a special capability that between the two, they will hopefully be able to save his sister. But what is uncovered is so much worse than anticipated. A plot to steal their powers for evil. Can they stop it or will they become a statistic in the plan? Thrilling from beginning to end, I loved the energy this book has. It's romantic thread between Geneva and Rolf is a slow burn, and well worth their wait as the story builds the anticipation along with the suspense! It enjoyed this one and can't wait for the next story.! Nonna is going to be fantastic...what a pistol she is!
Amanda Uhl narrates her own book with a powerful performance. She is talented, with an array of voices and her acting ability is spot on. Able to tell the story as intended, I think the book truly comes alive.
I received a copy of this book but had not previously read Book1. I don't feel as if I missed anything. i was able to pick up the premise and background fairly easily and jump right into the picture. This is a paranormal mystery/romance that drags you into Geneva and Rolf's psychic world. Both stronger than many of their kind, working for the govern-ment, they find themselves thrown together - not wanting to work side by side - but secretly craving the other. There is a connection between these two that is like yin and yang. But they both hold secrets and both need to have their heads knocked together sometimes to really see what is in front of them...within their grasp. This is a fast-paced rollercoaster ride of secrets, duplicity, danger, acceptance and love. The characters are well developed - though I had some issues with Geneva. She starts off like this strong fearsome individual, but sees to get a little whiny and damsel-in-distress in parts. Overall, the story was engaging and suspenseful. It held the reader enthralled in anticipation of the outcome and delivered. Nicely done.
I received a copy and am voluntarily leaving a review
I enjoyed the narration of Amanda Uhl , who bought out all the pace, action, heat and brings the characters to life.
The Cognitive Mind Unit, guard the minds of scientists and leaders across the world.
Geneva is a powerful trainer. Trainers aid Hackers while entering the minds from a distance. Geneva and Rolf fight working together.
Rolf’s sister is missing. Geneva has tracking ability, able to read someone’s aura, and can tell if some one lying . They will have to work together if they hope to find her.
We have a lots of twists and turns, the action was fast-paced , we have kidnapping, murder, love, secrets, lies and heat.
An intriguing paranormal story with mystery, suspense, action, and danger. Geneva and Rolf's special gifts aren't only dangerous in their own right, but cause danger to stalk them, and these two discover they're stronger together against the enemy, and wage a fight to gain their HEA. This new to me author has built an interesting world I'm itching to dive deeper into.
Fast paced action, lots of drama, suspense, and mystery, secrets and intriguing twists make this story a page turner. A paranormal romantic suspense whose characters have deadly pschic abilities with the need to learn how to completely control. Very interesting.
Cast as a paranormal romantic suspense, “Cross Waves” is the second in the Mind Hackers Series by Amanda Uhl. “Cross Waves” bursts into this genre’s scene with steamy characters, badass powers, and a seriously twisted plot to hurt the ones Geneva and Rolf love.
This is the paranormal romantic suspense novel your life has been missing. Author Amanda Uhl creates such a realistic fantasy world that immediately draws readers in, so well in fact that it is easy to forget the paranormal aspects of this suspenseful and dramatic manhunt. Using “energy” and color to describe feelings and characters, Uhl creates depth and sensory engagement to her story.
The main players within “Cross Waves” are the hunky, boding Rolf with deadly secrets of his own and his reluctant partner Geneva, a “tracker” with capabilities so powerful few dare to team up with her. But, they both have a history with one another the provides the foundation for a tug of war of the heart strings. Together Rolf and Geneva must work to save Rolf’s sister and Geneva’s best friend, Julia and stop the sinister kidnappers from harnessing their supernatural powers for evil.
This book begins with an aura color chart. This chart is a “cheat sheet” into the unique color aura of each person. For instance, Julia is a violet color, thus as Geneva works to track Julia she seeks waves of violet. Additionally, this chart outlines trait colors we encounter throughout this read. Colors such as dull red which portray worry, purple which indicates passion and gray which forbodes lying. Uhl does a great job of weaving in hints of what the colors mean throughout the book, however I still found myself referring back to this chart periodically, leading me to best enjoy this as a physical copy with easy access to flipping back and forth from chart to page.
“Cross Waves” does not lack for action, chasing down kidnappers and seeping lust. However, some of the escape scenes were not fully developed, lacking the detail needed to fully understand how the characters manipulated their escape. Additionally, while this book firmly held as a standalone, I ached for more details and background on the dark versus light concepts of power and premises within. Regardless though, this book is sure to have readers falling more in love with the paranormal, and how could they not, given Rolf’s dark, brooding charms.
While the genre of paranormal romantic suspense may be a mouthful to say aloud, it brings the best of so many worlds together. The sweltering lush of dreamy main characters, action packed thrills and disarming supernatural powers that are not entirely unrealistic. Uhl combines the best of all these genres in “Cross Waves” to create a seriously riveting story of passion, suspense, and intrigue.
This is the first book by this author that I have read. It has all the elements of romance, science fiction and fantasy with exciting action. I thoroughly enjoyed this entertaining story and can't wait to read the next one. I received an e-book from NetGalley in return for an unbiased review.
This author really knows how to build tension between the characters but also the plot itself. As the story progresses the tension builds up and my heart was pounding in anticipation. I read it in one sitting. That's how good this book really is. There were moments I thought they wouldn't be able to make it and solve the mystery. I am glad to say that not only did they solve the mystery but there is a HEA. This for me has to be one of the best romance I have read in a long while. I can't wait for the third book in the series.

“An exciting story that kept me in suspense from the start and thrilled me with its many surprises.” — Genre Minx Book Review
Four years after the first book was released, I was excited to finally see where Amanda Uhl would take the Mind Hackers series! This book follows a new couple, so it's not necessary to read the first book, but it's good to start with it just so you understand where this second book is picking up. There was a lot of drama and mystery, which really intrigued me as I seem to be on a mystery romance kick these days. Every time I get my hands on a mystery, I am obsessed, and the same goes for crime television - Investigation Discovery, anyone? This was unique with its paranormal element and the idea that the government would use people's psychic abilities for both honorable and nefarious purposes. It will definitely keep you on the edge of your seat.
Ever since they were children, Rolf Jorgensen and Geneva Ericksen have been connected, even though their childhood ended in a terrible separation that had led to great animosity. Geneva is the last person Rolf wants to work with on a case, and vice versa, but she is the most powerful female trainer in the CMU (Cognitive Mind Unit) and his best chance at locating his missing sister. Geneva knows Rolf is a powerful hacker, and as a friend of his sister's, she wants to help him, if only things weren't so tense between them. Her power has become more and more powerful since the day her mother was murdered twenty years ago, and recently her superiors have been worried she's becoming a danger to all. Working with Rolf gives her purpose, but as things become more dangerous, she wonders who she should worry about - herself or Rolf. Because Rolf has been hiding a terrible secret, one that would mean dire consequences if it ever became known.
I liked the relationship between Rolf and Geneva, especially as we were given glimpses into their history together. Geneva was heartbroken over Rolf's rejection of her years earlier, and Rolf was struggling to keep his emotions hidden. He felt he wasn't good for her, and while reading the book, I wondered if he was right. As the mystery unfolded and things became more complex, I realized that the true enemy was someone they would never have thought to consider, and that ultimately united them once more. It was easy to see how they complemented each other and how much they truly needed one another when things went south. It was hard watching them work through things, but once they did, it was a great partnership and a great second chance romance.
Hopefully another book will come soon in this series, but even if it doesn't, the wait was worth it. I really enjoyed the read and hope you do too.
**I received a free copy from the author and this is my honest review.**
This was a fun book to listen to. Amanda Uhl is very creative and put much thought into this story. The tension between the two main characters was ever present as they navigate through dangerous situations and discover their feelings for each other. The book really started picking up near the end as plot was made more clear and the resolutions began to unfold.
Geneva finds herself working with a guy she’s always been attracted to, but who behaves as though he hates her, on a job, looking for a missing agent. As she uses her gift (the ability to see auras and track them) to hunt for her, Geneva starts to encounter issues with her powers. Is there something wrong with her, or is the enemy interfering? Their situation continues to get worse as the enemy seems to be staying a few steps ahead of then the whole way.
The plot is great. I gave the story 4 stars because the story is too hard to follow. As I listen to the battles and encounters, I had too much trouble understanding what was actually happening. So, I settled for waiting to see what the resolution was. There were several times where new convenient powers were revealed for the first time when needed, like walking through walls and bringing someone back from death. This took away from the flow of the story.
The reader (The Author), did ok reading the book. There was a chapter near the end where she recorded herself running out of breath while reading. Also, as she spoke for all the characters, they all seemed equally emotionless. They all seemed to sound alike in tone. Some voices were higher or lower in pitch, but they all seemed to have the same frank, matter of fact attitude. I would love to hear this book read by a professional voice actor.
The language was ok. There were only a few bad words. There was quite a bit of touchy-feely romance and there was a slightly descriptive sex scene that I would have preferred not to experience.
In conclusion, I love the story, but the characters need to be better people (role models), the battles need to be explained more carefully, the rules (how the gifts work and who has them) need to be settled near the beginning of the story, and the reader needs to make it sound more real.
This is book 2 in the Mind Hackers series. Geneva Ericksen and Rolf Jorgensen have a history, Geneva had crushed on Rolf as a teenager and he had rebuffed her. Now as adults they work for the same organization and are paired for a mission to find Rolf’s sister who also works for the Cognitive Mind Unit, a secret governmental unit that employs people with various psychic talents to protect and defend the United States. Apparently psychic talents are inherited as Geneva’s two brothers and father work for this organization as does Rolf and his sister.
Rolf’s sister and her work partner were abducted while on a mission. Rolf is paired with Geneva to find them. Geneva is highly talented at finding people and Rolf is a hacker. As they pursue their mission, all the old issues between them come out for resolution, the primary one being a secret and disreputable psychic talent of Rolf’s that would likely cause disruption and even death to close partners and innocent bystanders.
In this book we learn more about the many different psychic talents employed by the CMU, talents that make individuals very powerful forces for good or harm to others. Though the disappearance of the first two agents is solved fairly quickly, they are both missing three days of memory. The reason why they were abducted becomes revealed as an attempt to get Geneva’s psychic talent, as well as Rolf’s, to be used against their will by parties working for their own enrichment. These are formidable enemies, as they have a means to drain the psychic powers of others and charge them in crystals for later use by anyone, psychic or not. One enemy is purported to have no psychic power, but she has hidden her ability to trap the psychic power of another. Her collaborator keeps his identity secret almost until the end.
This story is better written than the first in the series. Locations are better described, placing the reader in the scene most of the time.
I received an advance review copy for free, and I am leaving this review voluntarily.
This is a review of the audiobook version read by the author.
I was excited to listen to the second book following Mind Waves, which I had the pleasure to listen to a couple years ago. The premise of mind reading is not something used too often in romance novel and it is still very refreshing to read.
Crossing Waves, while being a sequel, can be read as a standalone. You might miss some of the world building and background, however.
I was a little uncertain about the main character Geneva at first but she grew on me as the book went on. She is stubborn to a fault but she has her priorities at the right place. On the other hand I liked Rolf during the whole book. Dark and brooding at first but slowing opens up.. I enjoyed the banter between Geneva and Rolf and the slow burn of awaiting the inevitable confession of feeling while not knowing who would make the first move.
There a some funny moment where Geneva is trying to exude hates for Rolf but is finding it difficult while Rolf is also struggling to do the same.
The book is narrated by the author and I think she did a great job. I could tell when Geneva was taking and when Rolf was taking. I hope the author continue narrating her book.
I feel this book is different from the first book. Both are enjoyable and while I feel the story was more developed here, I slightly prefer the first volume due to the main character not knowing about mind reader at first. Having said that I still really enjoyed this book and would recommend it.
I am looking forward to the next book in the series, especially with that teasing prologue!!
I was provided a free audiobook by the author in exchange for a fair and truthful review. All opinion are my own.
"If you were going to kill me, you would have done it already."
Geneva and Rolf, their psychic abilities could kill, themselves? Others? Each other? But that didn't matter as they reluctantly join forces to try to find Rolf's sister who also works as part of a team that worked for the government's Cognitive Mind Unit: a group that both supported and overused their agents, to everyone's detriment.
How can you be a supportive partner when you can literally read a person's mind; know their very soul, and be so smitten with them as a human you have know since almost childhood and because of that know what a loose cannon rages under the surface?
Can Rolf and Geneva save Julia? Will the secrets blocked by their families override their abilities or allow them to flourish? Can anyone find peace when psychic manipulation might kill? Check in with Amana Uhl's second book in the saga and find the answers in a maze of questions you might have difficulty funding the exit to. I can't give this book a strong 5/5 but I will give it a 4.5 out of five: a strong recommendation.
[disclaimer: I received this book as a gift from the author and chose to read and review it]
Thrilling, intriguing paranormal romance in the mind hackers realm I found myself talking to the characters like I was in the book with them. Well, they were communicating telepathically. Why not? Right? I was yelling for Rolf to go help Geneva or vice versa. This was a thrilling paranormal romance of supposed enemies. Both Geneva and Rolf are very gifted beyond what their average kind are. Rolf has a big secret that makes him feel the need to keep her far away from him. Will they ever be able to let the other know their true feelings? With their new assignment together, Geneva being his Trainer and Rolf being the Hacker, we’re in for a unique ride with intrigue, abduction, escape and lots of paranormal shenanigans! After having read MIND WAVES, I knew I needed to read CROSS WAVES. I’m hoping the next book will be about Caleb and Julia (please, please, please). And I definitely want to know more about Nonna. If you like non-shifter paranormal romance, please consider this book. It was truly thrilling. I stopped everything to finish it this evening. I volunteered to review an ARC of this book through BookSirens and it gets 5+ stars.
Cross Waves is book 2 in Amanda Uhl's mind hacker series. Since it is the only one i've read so far, all I can say about the series is that book two is awesome and totally enjoyable as a stand-alone story. It is a wonderful read for a day when you need a mental escape. I found myself identifying with Geneva-- maybe too much! The author addresses the impact of childhood trauma throughout life, as well as such topics as remarkably gifted individuals who still focus on their weaknesses or flaws, just like most of the rest of us. There are still other characters that could have stepped right out of the headlines -- such as doctors that take unethical liberties with their patients, seemingly without a qualm regarding the harm they are doing. Yes, there are both heroes and villains, and sometimes it's difficult to tell them apart. Most of all, Cross Waves is about the power of love and the strength that comes from knowing someone believes in you and will always be in your corner. I received an advance review copy for free, and I am leaving this honest review voluntarily.

This book was a great read that went from one crisis to the next, not letting up until the end. Lots of drama, danger and action with a HEA ending. In other words, the perfect book. While the book centers around the same organization as Mind Waves, and some of the characters appear in both books, this one is a very different storyline so there is zero feeling like you've read it all before.
I wasn't sure how I would go with this one, as Geneva come across as a little cold in the last book, but she became very capable of feelings in this one. And Rolf was a great character.
I mentioned in my review of Mind Waves that the writing style wasn't the best. This one was a lot better.
While the book finishes nicely, it does set things up for a third book and I will gladly read it when it comes available.

Cross Waves, by Amanda Uhl, is the second book in the Mind Hackers Series. This paranormal romance centers around Geneva and Rolf, who are part of the Cognitive Mind Unit which includes people with all kinds of mental gifts. The duo is reluctant to work together for several reasons. But their cooperation is imperative if Rolf's sister is to be found and rescued. There is lots of action and intrigue to keep a reader's attention with the colors related to emotions, auras, and psychic energies that are sometimes unstable and create chaos. It was interesting to watch Geneva and Rolf's relationship change and mature throughout the book. Readers who enjoy paranormal intrigue will not want to miss Cross Waves. I listened to a complimentary copy of the audiobook that was adroitly narrated by the author, making for an enjoyable listening experience. I was not required to write a review, and the opinions are my own.
