An interesting approach to 'reading a day' for an entire year. Each day there were short readings concerning famous, closeted, and everywhere in-between people who are part of the LGBTQ community over human history. The book is now a bit dated, published in 1982. So, many of the names lifted were from the 19th and early 20th century, and certainly several going back to times before Jesus. Many names came from the arts, stage, theater, and literature. Quite a few were, honestly, unknown names to me. Still, the book gave an eye-opening view of the fact that LGBTQ people have been part of human society since the beginning of time, and many have been major contributors to society. I think it would be a great project for an author to do an updated version of this work, incorporating names primarily from the 20th and 21 centuries, simply to illustrate the wonderful contributions of LGBTQ people in our own time.
