Looking for a single parent romance? THIS IS IT.
Main characters in their late thirties too. Mature in age and mind. SO REFRESHING!
Not only the romance was sweet, flirty and sexy but the family dynamics were GOLDEN.
Rhodes interaction with his son, Jake, pretty much stole the whole show. The family banter between Dee and her son Harvey was hilarious and Rhode's son, Jake, was without a doubt the real showstopper.
The hero of the book, Rhodes : What. A. Man. SIGH. LOVED HIM.
This book gave me all the feels and tingling anticipation feelings of those first dates, great chemistry and flirty comebacks between the hero and heroine made of Life Changer the perfect happy feels book.

I don’t know what to say about this book. For me it was just a sweet, sexy flirty romance. I loved Rhodes. He was just the sweetest ever. And you could see that he was totally infatuated with Dee.
And Dee she was like oh man how lucky am I, lol… It was funny at times and I loved their kids. They brought so much laughter and weird and amazing sweet moments to the story. And I mean could this book be any sweeter, even the freaking ex was a sweetie, and how often do you see that 😊 ♥
That’s all I can say. If you looking for a nice sweet single parent romance then this is definitely the book for you.

This story was a perfect read for me, for a couple of reasons
1) Our lovelies are characters who are closer to my age, rather than someone I could have given birth to, and
2) No OTT, stupid drama because ^^ they are adults and act like it!
I fell in love with Rhodes (swoon) and Dee from the get go, and they wormed their way into my heart as they were worming their way into each other's hearts.
This is a book that has left me smiling, days after finishing reading it. Life Changer just was.. sigh. I don't have words for how much I loved it
It is great seeing more of the Chicago first responders from previous books, and I am calling it now, and respectfully request that Ms Harvey gives us a Chicago First Responders: The Next Generation series, and these kids need their stories told!

I have been waiting not so patiently for Rhodes book and holy hell, his story was everything I didn't know I wanted but everything I hoped for in this single dad romance.
"Look, Dad. I know it's been awhile for you, but when a guy likes a girl and a girl likes a guy, you lock that girl down before someone else snaps her up."
Rhodes and Dee's story was nothing short of swoon-worthy perfection! It had me inhaling page after page of this fun, sweet, light read that I couldn't put down until the very end. The witty banter between father and son, co-workers, friends and family had me laughing and smiling throughout this entire book.
"The one who taught me how to love was taken from me far too soon, and the one who changed my entire life and taught me to love again is standing in front of me telling me she thinks she can't be enough, when all she's ever been is too much. I love you, Dee. I love you in a way I've never loved anyone before, and that's because of Lily not despite her. She's my history; you're my future."
If you're looking for a read that will sweep you off your feet while falling in love with these characters then you'll definitely want to read Rhodes and Dee's story!

I didn't enjoy Life Changer as much as Show Stopper because I had an issue with a piece of the storyline.
The relationship between Dee and Flynn was REALLY UNREALISTIC... To state that you still Care for each other maybe, but to say it the way they did, NOPE...
I also had a problem with the pet names. Sweet Cheeks made me cringe, and Honey just didn't flow off Dee's lips right.
And, I'm guessing authors from Australia don't write HEA's??? Both books no HEA? This story definitely should have had a Happily Ever After wedding of some kind.
Everything else, including the smidgen of drama, was great.

Great Story - Great Read

This is a beautiful love story between Dee and Rhodes. Dee is a single mother with a ten year old son Harvey and lives with her ex husband who is also her best friend. Rhodes is a widower who lost his wife Lilly six years ago from ovarian cancer and has a teenage son Jake. It's instant attraction when they meet. The author does a fantastic job bringing out all the feels in this emotional story and paints her scenes so vividly I felt I was there with them. She brings strong characters including all the secondary characters. I especially loved Jake and Harvey who is absolutely adorable. It's told in the dual POV so you can feel their thoughts and emotions coming through the pages as the relationship grows. I loved the dialogue between all the different characters and thought the ones Rhodes has with his wife were beautiful and showed his love for her. The story is brought to life with perfect detail and the story flows fluidly. I absolutely loved this book and highly recommend reading!!

After meeting Rhodes in Show Stopper, I couldn’t wait to get my hands on his book. There was just something about him that I was drawn to and I was eager to learn more about him. I really love the family dynamic that Harvey has created throughout and within all of her series. You can’t help but be pulled into these stories and this world because of these characters. I enjoyed Rhodes and Dee’s story. From the action packed meeting to the last page, I was all in. Their relationship felt real with plenty of excitement, sweetness, and even insecurities woven in. The kids brought another aspect to the story I really enjoyed. The characters themselves as well as the way they fit into the story added even more depth to Dee and Rhodes, the way in which their relationship progressed, and to the overall larger family dynamic. This crew keeps growing and I can’t get enough of it!! I can’t wait to see what Harvey delivers next.

Rhodes is a sweetheart and Dee was a sassy ball of fun. I loved Harvey and Jake, and I'd actually really like to read more about Jake in the future. The rest of the gang were there and were just as fun as before too.

I just want to say that I love single dad romances. Rhodes is a sexy firefighter and a single dad to his son, Jake. Jake and Rhodes have a wonderful relationship, especially since they lost Lily to cancer. You will love Jake and I bet he’ll have you laughing out loud like he did me. This entire book has some amazing characters with family, blood or not, as a strong center. Rhodes happens to be walking near Delish, Dee’s restaurant, when she gets mugged. Rhodes to the rescue. See if you fall for him even more, when you find out what he does after he catches the mugger. I also love the relationship that Dee has with her ex-husband and housemate, Flynn. I don’t think many divorced couples would put their child first like they do. Harvey is a lucky ten year old. I won’t leave any spoilers, but I will say you will be flipping the pages to see what happens with these fantastic characters. Grab your copy and get ready to swoon, laugh out loud, and fall in love. I’m looking forward to reading book three in this fantastic series.

“Grandad, stop,” Jake groans.
This book was so wholesome and beautiful. I sobbed my sensitive heart out but I also laughed just as much. BJ has this way with words and I swear they get better each book.
Jake and Rhodes have my heart. Dee and Harvey are perfect. All the relationships are perfect.
You need to read this book. It was amazing.

It will warm your heart to see two people come together who need that someone special to make their life complete.

Catching up with other favourite characters from BJ's previous books was another added joy to this read.
I cannot wait for more stories in this series and maybe, just maybe, some next generation stories. This was definitely a book that left me with a smile on his face.

Took ages for me to plough through this book. Just did not grab my interest or pull me into the story. Rhodes and Dee have many people in their family, and their friends circle yet the two never met. The pet names were a little too sweet, Dee pleasing everyone with lava cake had me thinking she needed some affirmation as a person. The f-bombs in the most, what I thought were, inappropriate places put me off enjoying the book. The plot was mundane, man meets female, confirms she is the one for him, a lot of sex, a little trauma here, woman feeling insecure, then it all fall into place and it's happy ever after.

What a truly beautiful love story. This was a no-nonsense, instant attraction tale that leaves you smiling big. For a very long time, I've read story after story that's drama-fueled and this story was a breath of fresh air. As it doesn't contain any of that.
Rhodes and Dee's story is unique, it was fun, steamy and at its heart was about family. Rhodes son Jake is a magical character and along with Dee's son Harvey, they stole the show and brightened this book. I really hope along the line we get Jake's book. He is a special young man that deserves it.
All of the characters including Dee's ex-husband Flynn and even Lily, Rhodes late wife made this book even more special. And the way they're both involved in this story is just magical.
This book is a total recommendation from me. The stories just keep getting better and better. Bring on the next book.
When you have lines like this from the male lead character’s son... “Mom was a rock star. What’s to say Dee won’t be the next headline act in the concert that is your life?”... you know you have hit pay dirt with this story. These characters are all fantastic and so easy to laugh with and about, the fun banter between them makes it hilarious. Axel, Jake, and Harvey are the young gentlemen coming up and these children are a crack up.
The dynamic between the lead characters, Dee and Rhodes, is sensational and so easygoing. It’s such a relaxing read and refreshing to be able to sit back and enjoy a story without the usual angst or heartbreaking emotional moments. Not to say these weren’t in their lives at times but it is a happy, wholesome stage, even with a small hiccup.
Poor Scotty, I feel the need to comment about his idiotic comments receiving so many head smacks! 😆 He certainly brings something special to these stories.
I totally recommend this story to everyone who enjoys a fun book that makes you laugh and escape into an amazing fictional world.

Life Changer is utterly delightful from start to finish. Much lighter in the angst department for BJ Harvey, the love story between Rhodes and Dee is easy-going and wonderful. The widower and the divorcee hit if off almost immediately and it was refreshing that they could be so honest with each other.
With no true bumps in their road, perhaps it IS the honesty that gives them a few hiccups along the way but it's nothing that might ever threaten their happy. There are numerous touching moments as Dee's exceptionally terrific ex-husband gives his former wife the boost she needs to test the dating waters again. Together with their adorable son Harvey, it's no wonder Dee often has tears in her eyes at how lucky a woman she is. A modern family dynamic, I loved all of their interactions.
Rhodes is more than a great guy. He is a true knight in shining armor as he saves Dee from her oft-times overworked self and manages to find the 2nd love of his life in the process. His 'moments' with his late wife, Lily, are tender (and made me tear up a bit) and give him the courage to make Dee his. His son Jake is a one of a kind and gives his old man some good-natured ribbing when need be and also is wise beyond his years when it comes to love and life. Jake is a scene-stealer from the get-go and I love his 'swagger' and heart.
Dee and Rhodes have the full support of family and friends, many we have already met in prior Harvey books and it's always a GREAT time when they are around. Even group texts with the girls had me laughing out loud as pregnancy and kids give them all a new reason to continue to be wild about their men.
Life Changer is the perfect palate cleanser, so to speak, from the heavier reads out there and it is guaranteed to make you both laugh and smile.

Delilah Duncan (maiden name Baker) is Faith's (Working Back, Cook Brothers Series #3) and Ezra's (Working For It, Cook Brothers Series #5) sister. She a divorced thirty-seven-year-old mom, food vlogger, restaurant owner who has a unique living arrangement with her best friend ex-husband.
We know Rhodes Anderson from Show Stopper (Chicago First Responders #1). He’s a widower with a sixteen-year-old son, Jake. He’s also a career firefighter who works with Marco Rossi.

The two main characters are strong, honest and funny, they connect right from the beginning. They are both mature in age and mind. I loved Rhodes. And you could see that he was totally infatuated with Dee.

And as always was a pleasure to meet up with wonderful characters from my favorite series of this talented author, the Cook Brothers Series. You can’t help but be pulled into these stories and this world because of these characters. This crew keeps growing and I can’t get enough of it.
I enjoyed Rhodes and Dee’s story. From the action packed meeting to the last page, I was all in. If you're looking for a read that will sweep you off your feet while falling in love with these characters then you'll definitely want to read Rhodes and Dee's story! <3
Delilah Duncan (maiden name Baker) is Faith's (Working Back, Cook Brothers Series #3) and Ezra's (Working For It, Cook Brothers Series #5) sister. She a divorced thirty-seven-year-old mom, food vlogger, restaurant owner who has a unique living arrangement with her best friend ex-husband.

BJ Harvey writes one (er two) hell of a single parent! Harvey brings all the sweet, sexy and swoon with Life Changer.
I already knew I loved Rhodes and (especially) his son Jake from earlier books but man, oh man, I fell even harder in this book. Rhodes is a wonderful man raising his amazing 16 year old son by himself after his wife passes away. They are the perfect sarcastic team, seriously their banter and interactions are the best! Jake wants to see his dad happy again and decides to take matters into his own hands, orchestrating a blind date with a food vlogger they both love to follow.

This is the thing when you pick up a BJ Harvey book, you know you are in store for a lovely and emotional story. Each and every time. This book was no different. If anything this book has taken it too another level.
Even though this story was primarily for about Rhodes and Dee, all the other characters in this story were just amazing. I seriously loved Flynn and Jake. The relationship they each had with Flynn and Dee was really pretty special. Different set up that was for sure but still special. It was so cool when Flynn met Rhodes for the first time. I loved the moment at the end with Flynn and Dee. That was pretty special and I loved it.
Jake and Rhodes had a lovely relationship and again, all during the book it was just nice to see the families and friends come together and be there for each other. Rhodes couldn't be more perfect if you tried really. Swooooonnnn material thats for sure.
Rhodes and Dee were amazing from the get go. Sparks flying and just lovely to read their journey through this book. I loved how Rhodes explained Lily and and he often had that inner monologue which was again lovely. Lets face it, their sexy time was HOT AF!!
Its so nice to see these second chance love stories. It gives you the warm and fuzzies and this book certainly did it for me.
I take my hat off to BJ Harvey for creating such a beautiful story but then, I don't expect anything different now :-)

When you have lines like this from the male lead character’s son... “Mom was a rock star. What’s to say Dee won’t be the next headline act in the concert that is your life?”... you know you have hit pay dirt with this story. These characters are all fantastic and so easy to laugh with and about, the fun banter between them makes it hilarious. Axel, Jake and Harvey are the young gentleman coming up and these children are a crack up.
The dynamic between the lead characters, Dee and Rhodes, is sensational and so easy going. It’s such a relaxed read and refreshing to be able to sit back and enjoy a story without the usual angst or heartbreaking emotional moments. Not to say these weren’t in their lives at times but it is a happy, wholesome stage, even with a small hiccup.
Poor Scotty, I feel the need to comment about his idiotic comments receiving so many head smacks! 😆 He certainly brings something special to these stories.
I totally recommend this story for everyone who enjoys a fun book that makes you laugh and escape into an amazing fictional world.

This title is a heartwarming, at times emotional single parent romance.
Rhodes is a sexy, sweet, kind, and caring widower with a sixteen-year-old son who also happens to be a firefighter. As endearing as Rhodes is, it’s his son Jake who you can’t help but love who whilst similar to his father in many ways is also a complete smart ass, and has way more knowledge of the world, women and romance for his tender years.
Dee is a divorced single mother to a ten-year-old son Harvey. She’s sassy, fun and a chef, restaurant owner and video blogger who had an enviable relationship with her ex-husband who is also her best friend.
The relationship that Rhodes and Dee shares felt realistic with plenty of steamy and hot interactions, but also moments where their vulnerabilities shine through.
Their banter is witty, fun, flirty and has plenty of humorous one liners.
I loved that the characters from previous books written by BJ Harvey make cameo appearances throughout this title and I look forward to the next addition to the Chicago First Responders series.

I voluntarily reviewed a copy of this book (given by the author)...
3.75/4 stars but more closer to 4 stars
This book is about Rhodes (Marco’s best friend and fellow fire fighter) and Delilah aka Dee, Ezra’s sister. Rhodes is a a widow and a single father while Delilah is a divorced single mom who’s roommate is her ex-husband, Flynn.
This story was so sweet and heartbreakingly beautiful I actually teared up a few times. Rhodes and his son, Jake, have the best relationship and the way they honored Rhodes’ wife, Lilly, was just wonderful. However, the relationship between Dee, Flynn and their tween son Harvey was odd but also inspiring.
I will be honest, although I loved this book it did feel a little too perfect; I mean there really was no major conflict the couple had to overcome. Even the issue at the end seemed a little forced even though it had merit, it just seemed Dee’s reaction was a bit much.
Love the cameos from our favorite characters especially Marco and Renee.
Gio’s book is next and can’t wait to see what lies ahead for him.
Also I’m still wondering about the Scotty and Hayley, Renee’s sister, situation.

5 star Review Life Changer (Chicago First Responders #2) by B.J. Harvey
This is the second book in the latest series from B.J.Harvey and Life Changer was a fabulous read. This is Rhode and Dee’s story and it ticked all the boxes for me.
This was an entertaining read that drew me in and had me riveted from the first to the last chapter. I really liked Rhodes, he is totally swoon worthy and I fell hard and fast for him. Dee is a smart, independent, sassy woman who I found easy to relate too.
When they meet it is like fate has lent a hand, the connection between them is immediate and the chemistry between them is intene; you could feel it sizzling any time they were together.
Rhodes is a widower and Dee a single mum. I loved their kids, they really were a great addition to the story. It was also great to see some familiar characters pop up whilst reading.
This was a fun, light hearted read with characters that you cannot help but become invested in and I am excited to read more in this series. There is nothing that I did not enjoy about this book.

Totally loved this book from start to end!
I love BJ Harvey's books... and I love how they all intersect. Lol it was even mentioned in the book when someone said that it was almost incestuous.
This is Ezra's other sister, Dee, and Marco's best friend and co-worker, Rhodes, book. They are both single parents, but where Rhodes is a widow, Dee is still living platonically and best friends with her ex. Rhodes has been watching Dee's cooking vlogs for a while, and actually helps her out when she's mugged. Their attraction is instant. Then, their family/ friends set them up on a blind date... it was kismet!
I love their whole relationship...I love both of their kids - they are sooooo adorable. Their relationship seems so perfect, I nearly didn't think that they would have any trouble like there normally is in romance novels. But when Jake, Rhodes's son, has an accident, Dee starts to feel that she'll never measure up to his late wife.
I highly recommend this book, and I can't wait to read the rest of the books in this series!!

What a truly beautiful love story. This was a no nonsense, insta attraction tale that leaves you smiling big. For a very long time I've read story after story that's drama fueled and this story was a breath of fresh air. As it doesn't contain any of that.
Rhodes and Dee's story is unique, it was fun, steamy and at its heart was about family. Rhodes son Jake is a magical character and along with Dee's son Harvey they stole the show and brightened this book. I really hope along the line we get Jake's book. He is a special young man that deserves it.
All of the characters including Dee's ex husband Flynn and even Lily, Rhodes late wife made this book even more special. And the way they're both involved in this story is just magical.
This book is a total recommend from me. The stories just keep getting better amd better. Bring on the next book.

I loved this book! There are very few books that I've read recently that I've absolutely adored from the beginning and this was one of them. The characters were great and the chemistry was off the charts. I loved how Dee and her ex weren't at odds with each other and how none of the kids were bratty with attitude problems.
Sure, I was a little confused with the whole family tree of how everyone knew each other, but I thought that was part of the charm. It showed how close-knit they all were.
I think the only thing I could really comment on as something I wasn't in love with was the lack of drama. I'm not one for a ton of drama, but for so much of the book it seemed like things were going too well and I was waiting for some big chaotic event that would shatter everything I knew and...it didn't happen. So it was a bit of a letdown. But that's okay.
I'd love to recommend this to anyone who likes unconventional families and minimal drama.

This is a satisfying love story that brings out all the feelings for the reader. It felt very much focused on family, which the reader will quickly see. Dee is a single mom with a ten-year-old son, Harvey. They and her ex-husband, Flynn, who is still her best friend, live together in a comfortable arrangement. Firefighter Rhodes is a widower who has a teenage son, Jake. These kids are amazing, by the way! It's instant attraction when Dee and Rhodes meet. He was always very aware of her but didn’t know how to get started with her. When she is mugged, he comes to her rescue.
I was most impressed with the relationships among family and those who are considered family because they are loved. Pay attention to the dialog and interactions among the characters. It says so much about their relationships with each other. The best thing you can do for yourself is to read this book that just feels right. You’ll find yourself smiling so often that you may need to take a few breaks along the way just to rest your cheeks!

This is book 2 in the Chicago First Responders Series and it’s a wonderful read, it the perfect second book to a series I’m falling in love with. This is Rhode and Dee’s story and it’s a captivating, entertaining read that will also touch your heart.
